For me it does I can't stand when there is noise in a next room.
There is a TV right by the wall of where my computer is, and it is close to the door. Every time these kids my mom picks up after school, come over to watch TV, they ALWAYS turn the damn thing up!! Even after I tell them to keep the volume low.
I keep my volume low, and I am able to hear it just fine, even when I am on my bed, feets away from the TV. I don't get why they NEED the TV up so loud!
Just hearing them talk also drives me nuts.
There is just something in me that snaps. I literally get up and turn the TV down, and walk back to my room angry and irritated.

It's possible they don't hear as well you; from what I've read and learned from other Aspies and people on the spectrum, our hearing tends to be better than that of neurotypicals. I know at 40 I can hear the "mosquito ring tone", and I'm told I shouldn't be able to do so. High tones, for me, are very annoying, but low tones I can feel in my teeth are downright painful.

I have the same issue. My roommate listens to a lot of loud music, with heavy bass. Now, I like the kind of music she turns up this way, and I don't mind the bass, but sometimes she plays it relatively early in the morning or at night, and I feel like I'm being shaken out of my bed by the reverberations.
Ugh, as far as the high-pitched tones, I'm told that I shouldn't be able to hear x-ray machines, but I had to get a dental x-ray the other day, and it was horrible. This thing was spinning around my head and emitting this squealing noise that was so high in tone I could barely hear it, but it hurt like hell.

It depends on the noise. Though nearly any noise is annoying if its repetitive enough... Some noises can be soothing. Others make me want to punch things, or at least go wherever the noise is coming from and do my best to get it to stop.
