It wasn't everyday that Jaina retreated from her rooms into the sunshine of the courtyard. She liked her rooms because they tended to hold everything she needed to tinker with anything.

On this sunny day, the persistent R2 droid Vi had insisted on going outdoors. Jaina didn't want to complain, she knew she needed to get out, the only times she retreated from her room was for lessons. Jaina was being anti-social, and that needed to change.

With a contented sigh, she flopped herself down and leaned on the far side of the fountain. "I hope you start to rust, Vi." She muttered before taking her multitool out and started to mess around with different components in the tool.

Jhordaan had decided that for his continued mental health, escaping from the confines of his small room was probably for the best. It was a nice day, at least, and he'd have been glad for it if there weren't so many people mucking about. Nice weather and all. He didn't really mind, as long as no one bothered him; it was when people started bothering him, and they seemed to do so with alarming frequency, that he started to be annoyed by the crowds.

His wanderings eventually took him to the courtyard, and his interest was caught by a plain looking girl leaning against the fountain. She looked busy with whatever she was fiddling with, and he couldn't help feeling curious. The droid that accompanied her was rather unique looking, as well. Who painted their droid purple?

Following a whim, he sat down on the lip of the fountain near her and, deciding not to approach her directly, nonchalantly began to juggle the silver orb he was still carrying around in his pocket. Contact juggling wasn't exactly usual, and generally caught the eye; and Jhordaan was feeling flashy.

Jaina was feeling very confident with her skills. Alanna had confirmed that the purple wires were extra. That would mean she could remove them, or cut them, or just mess with them, and nothing horrible should happen. In theory.

Jaina sensed the boy before she heard or saw him. He gave off a strong wave as he sat down from her. He sat a little too far to be interested in conversing with her. it made Jaina's heart fall. She was sure that she was approachable.

She shifted her sitting position so she could see him out of the corner of her eye. As she mindlessly dug inside Vi she noticed that the other youngling had an orb with him. And he was juggling it. He was quite good she had to admit.

"Nice juggling. I do think that that orb is rather familiar. Did your sponsor get it for you?" Jaina couldn't help but complement, he was alone. And who didn't need friends? Jaina sure did.

Jhordaan glanced over, smiling easily. It had been easier to get her attention than he'd expected, and it left him feeling rather smug. He wouldn't want to seem lonely or desperate by striking up a conversation himself; appearances must be kept, after all. So--mission accomplished.

"Thanks," he pocketed the orb, "And--no. It's from one of the lessons."

Jhordaan turned so he was facing her more fully and offered his hand, "I'm Jhordaan."

"Aaaah." She smirked. "I think I still have my orb somewhere too!"

She looked at his hand and then at her own. They were slightly dirty, she wiped them on her pants and shook his hand. "Jaina. So what do you like to do? As you can see I like to mess with the inner workings of things!" Jaina had burst her little bubble and was talking rather rapidly.

Jhordaan smiled again, bemused at the speed with which the girl talked--it was rather impressive, actually, and he wondered absently how long she could go on before she had to stop for air--and made sure to shake her hand firmly, "A pleasure to meet you, Jaina." And, surprisingly, it was.

He had never really had time for friends before, but he felt like it might be worth his while to attempt to kindle a relationship with Jaina; she seemed like the sort that was good to know, and Jhordaan felt--despite their short acquaintance--that they might get along rather well together. He felt, for the first time in a long while, willing to take the risk.

"I like juggling, and vid games, and I've always been interested in mechanics." He knew a bit, from ship life, but not nearly as much as he would have liked. Perhaps Jaina would be willing to remedy that.

She took his talking as a chance to breathe. She longed to get back inside Vi, but she did want to have a friend. Vi could always wait, it wasn't like the droid was going to get up and roll out of her life.

"Juggling," she inquired. "you'll have to show me what you mean." She thought about his interests and an idea sparked in her head.

"Hey Jhordaan You're interested in mechanics? Are you any good at those puzzle solving vid games? I've got a real puzzler that i could use help with." Jaina was super excited if this kid had a good mind maybe a new set of eyes would help her figure out this whole code thing with Vi and the wires. Besides didn't Alanna say there were some games that she could unlock?

She seemed like a rather cheerful person, and Jhordaan was glad for it; even with his shields, constant negatively had a way of wearing down on him. Besides that, Jhordaan found her excitement rather--endearing.

"A bit, yes." Though he much preferred the type of vid game that ended in pixelated death (of his opponents), Jhordaan did occasionally enjoy more thought-provoking challenges. He didn't think he was half-bad, either. (Perhaps that was the reason he got bored with them so quickly?)

"Why don't you show me what you have?" He slid over, so he could see better.
