I have such a broad case of broadband synesthesia. For me, every noise, every change in tone, every second of every song has a visual.
It's such a trip to be honest, although I never knew it was before last year.
I was in psych101 and my teacher was explaining synesthesia for the first time (I had no clue what it was back then) and used an example that when one hears a sound, they associate a color or shape with it.
The class was quiet for lecture, as usual, and I just said "duh..." and my teacher was like "excuse me?" It was funny. I was like "of course sounds have shape!!" and everyone in the class was like "YOU HAVE IT! YOU HAVE IT!" and told me that they actually do *not* see music. I feel sorry for them! Haha...
Before I discovered what synesthesia was, I thought that the visuals were PART OF the sound. It's hard for me to seperate which part of it I am hearing and which I'm seeing, because-to me-the visuals are part of the noise I hear.
Every sound, tune, static, etc... has a texture and shape (the shapes change or move or vibrate as the sound... uhm... moves?? or as the sound changes or the music prgresses.) and a shade.
I say shade not color because the colors are the only thing that change.
Sometimes I hear a guitar and it is very thick, misty, and it's zigzagging in bars. It's also neon. Depending on my mood, the name of the song (yes, I have grapheme), the mood of the song, and a number of other variables... the neon sound might be neon orange or neon magenta or neon blue. The color may change but it will never become an earthtone or a primary color. It will always be neon.
