It was all completely surreal. It was a dark, twisted dream with mysteries lurking around every corner. Through a looking glass one might think that Isabelle's life had taken a turn for the better. For currently she had taken residence within one of the wealthiest homes around. Not only this, but the families handsome son had finally noticed her after all of these years. No longer would she spend nights huddled by the small fire place trying to obtain any amount of warmth. no longer would she spend days on end with nothing to eat beyond bread and rice. No longer would she be stuck reading as opposed to watching television. It was a Cinderella story, but at what price?

Her father was a very accomplished man. Quirky, loving, and brilliant in many ways. His dream was to be a grand inventor But, he had been landed by working as some sort of messenger for one of the wealthiest families in town. Belle loved her father. The way he always had soot in his mustache. the way he tossed his hands in the air when releasing a hearty chuckle, the way he loved her unconditionally despite her odd ways and distaste for most of her fellow teenagers. With her father, Belle was accepted. There was nothing in the world that could fill the hole engraved in her heart now that he was gone. Gone forever.

The worst of it all was that he was murdered. This kind, elderly man was killed by an unknown person. There were really no motives, to traces of evidence. For a while, Belle was an actual suspect. But, they quickly released this idea upon meeting the girl. She was obviously lost without her father. She couldn't even find her voice. She had completely inverted. The normal smiling, vibrant girl had become a hollow shell. A pale, frail mute of a girl with little or nothing left to look forward to.

She had been worried about her living situations. without any distant relatives, she was sure to be sent to some group home or foster care. She couldn't at all imagine growing up with strangers. However, her father's closest acquaintances just happened to be the family that hired him many years ago. She accepted their generous offer to take her in. Repaying them now by becoming a sort of in-home maid. They had protested the first couple of days, but she was persistent. Even though she refused to speak, Belle could still find the strength to be stubborn if there was a cause for it.

It had been nearly three weeks now. Thankfully it was summer time, and so she didn't have to face the rest of the student population just yet. She mostly spent her days cleaning and tidying the house. She would of course pause for a meal or two, and every evening just before sunset she would read until nightfall. she had found a perfect spot. Beneath a large oak which had been growing to no end in the family's courtyard. You wouldn't catch the girl humming to herself, or singing as she sued to do quite often. For, a a sign of morning..she spent her days in complete silence.

Today was a day just like any other. The sun had peeked through the thin curtains of the spare bedroom inside which she resided. Her body felt tired, and weak, but she refused to sleep in regardless. her delicate form was draped beneath a thin creme' colored nightgown. Her endless locks of chestnut waves were pulled back into a semi-messy bun. She looked just the same as she would throughout the day. For Belle wasn't one to pamper herself with makeup and beautiful clothing. She wasn't homely in any sense either. She had a natural beauty, that many boys had taken a liking to. She had always been persistent in turning them away. They were the sort that were arrogant and cruel beneath their beautiful smiles. She had a habit of finding the good in a person, but some people were just..not meant for her.

A Soft, soundless sigh escaped her rose shaded lips. She pulled her body to a stance and immediately went to work on straightening out the blankets that she had tossed around throughout the night. The cleaning was endless in a place as large as this home, and she was quite thankful for this. It gave her something to occupy her mind with. A reason to say secluded, and useful all at once. Besides, she felt that it was the very least she could do to repay the family for their kindness.

Who Could Ever Love A Beast?
T A L E a s O L D a s T I M E

XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXThe morning light shined in from the bedroom balcony and onto Everett’s glowing body. His dark hair pushed in many directions from the many positions he put it in while sleeping. Everett’s body was partially covered, but only by a simple white sheet and his underwear. His relaxed face made no motion except for the opening of his stone cold eyes. What happened last night? Every memory of the night was burry and came to him in sudden flashes of clarity. It was all too confusing for him to understand. All Everett knew was he had fallen into that state again. Becoming a werewolf each time you get upset was beginning to sicken Everett. Being a hairy beast tearing up everything in sight wasn’t his idea of fun. Who could ever enjoy being a monster? Everett lifted his hands to his eyesight. They weren’t covered in hair, and he could taste blood in his mouth. So far, so good. Everett scanned the room to see if his room was damaged. A large sigh of relief escaped his lips as only his door was scratched.

XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXEverett slowly slid himself onto the bedside and stepped onto the floor with careless feet. Making his way over to the large walk in closet, Everett decided against going down stairs in just his underwear. He needed some clothing before he began his day. What kind of clothes didn’t matter so long as he didn’t look like an idiot, but slipping on a decent shirt and pair of jeans wouldn’t be enough for him. Only expensive clothes were allowed in this house. There were standards in such a mansion that needed to be met. Without high standards, they couldn’t possibly be rich to begin with. Another sigh was released, but this time it wasn’t out of relief. There, standing before him, was a large staircase with a broken vase and scraped wall. How was he possibly going to hide the fact that he was a werewolf from the world? Every time he got angry his body would start to go though changes, and he would lose control. Each time Everett would blame the wrecked house on things such as burglars. But because of their new alarm systems, people were finding that harder and harder to believe. Everett knelt to the ground and picked up the broken vase and red rose. He tossed the remains of the expensive pottery into the trash, and stared thoughtfully at the rose. It’s bright red petals were so captivating.

XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXSpotting the girl’s bedroom out of the corner of his eye, he glanced up to see her working busily on her bedding. Everett was terribly fond of her being in the house. If it weren’t for the death of her father, she wouldn’t even have to be here. It was nice to have someone around to clean, but he found she always kept to herself and never spoke with him. Everett smiled up at her even if she couldn’t see. He stepped into her bedroom with a hint of confidence, but wouldn't dare let her know. Good looks and money generally got him girls, but they were always turned off by his attitude. Perhaps this one could fall for him? Everett approached her while twirling the rose in his hand casually. He stared at it instead of her, but kept Bella in plain sight. ”Working already?” Everett wasn’t surprised by this at all, but was finding it difficult to say anything else. She was fairly attractive, in a natural way. That was a good quality that Everett longed to be around. ”Don't you sleep?” He said still distracted by the flower. The twirling came to a slow stop as he waited for her reply. Sure, Everett acted concerned now. But the girl was in for a big treat when she upset him.

Perfecting the creases in the blankets caused the bedding to appear as if it had never been used. She was more concerned about the pillows, that seemed to fall limp no matter how many times she had fluffed them out. in fact, she had been patting one of the two feather containing objects when a slight rustle could be heard in the very near distance. it was easy enough to develop a keener sense of hearing when she was always so silent. Always listening, hoping to hear that sweet rusty voice calling her name.

there was no calling of the name, and no limp in the footsteps that made their way to her bedroom. These footsteps were firm, even, confident. She knew exactly whom they belonged to. Some may think that Belle would have been embarrassed having only been clad in her nightgown. However, she wasn't exactly as shy as she led on to be. She didn't mind hints of her creamy porcelain showing here and there. Skin was beautiful, it was soft; it was real.

She Turned in a sort of twirling motion before he had even spoken. Everett was really a handsome boy. she often pictured him as a a statue. Something that could be admired from afar and yet far too priceless and fragile to ever run one's fingers across. He was pretty much off limits in her mind. After all, what could a guy with everything in the world see in a girl like herself? This didn't upset her so much, she never complained about having him around observe.

Her eyes sort of lit up at the sight of the rose. A soft, barely visible smile etched its way upon her tender lips. He seemed to be captivated by the flower, and she couldn't really blame him. Belle imagined the petals to feel like silk against her skin. She yearned to hold it in her hands and simply inhale its floral scent. This got her wandering why he had a rose in the first place. It wasn't exactly the norm for a guy to be carrying around a rose first thing in the morning without any reasons.

As she listened carefully to his questions, her eyebrows rose slightly. The corns of her mouth stretched a bit, causing her smile to become even more apparent. She of course didn't even think to open her mouth to speak. She simply held up one hand, closing all fingers into a fist excepting only her thumb and index finger, which she made into a slight pinching state. This was of course symbolizing her intended response 'A little..' If she had elaborated with speech..she might have to mention the nightmares that tormented her during the night..

Who Could Ever Love A Beast?
T A L E a s O L D a s T I M E

XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXIt was cute the way Bella’s night gown danced around when she turned to see him standing before her. Her small hand gestures reminded him of how quiet she was. Everett couldn’t even recall what her voice sounded like, though he imagined it sounded like that of an angel’s. A girl with such pure beauty couldn’t possibly go around with an unappealing voice. It would be most unsuitable for her. Everett smiled at her simple presence. He found himself looking down at her a bit too long. Everett shyly looked back down at the rose. His handsome fingers slipped up the prickly stem as he set it down on her nightstand. There wasn’t much furniture in her room. This was something Everett planned on changing. It was no way to treat a guest. Even if she wasn’t technically a guest, she was still a lady. One who just recently lost her father in a tragic accident. It was horrible to think that Everett was responsible for such a death. To be honest, he couldn’t help himself. When Everett gets in that werewolf, he can’t control who is around him and who gets killed. His temper absolutely disgusted him, and more than likely sickened everyone who witnessed it.

XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXEverett never saw what Bella was like before the death of her father, but he knew couldn’t have always been the silent type. It was starting to get to him. Each time he wanted to speak with her, to hear her voice reply to his own, she let him down with a simple hand gesture. Everett sighed thoughtfully and drew closer to her. His useless hand reached up to his head and he ran his fingers through his dark hair. It was still a little awry from sleeping. Everett glanced over at her with slightly squinted eyes. She was beautiful, but he wasn’t quiet sure how to express those feelings. Especially now that she lost the one person closest to her. The idea that she could use someone new to lean on passed his mind once or twice, but she never gave him an inch to flirt.

XXXXXXXXXXXXXXX”C’mon.” He said playfully, not really caring about the work that she had to do for the day. ”Can’t you say anything?” A tiny smirk appeared on his face as he thought she would have to speak now. If she didn’t, that would just be considered rude. Everett really felt like he had her now. His hands slipped back down to his side as he reached his hands into his pockets. The fabric was soft, almost too soft. So much, in fact, that it sent a tingle down his thigh. It was an awkward feeling to have while alone in a room with a lady in her nightgown. He forced the thoughts and temptations aside as he waited to hear her heavenly voice to be used in his presence.

He was a curious thing to watch. Belle found herself observing as his finger tips graced ever so gently across the rose before setting it down on her nightstand. She wasn't sure if he had the intentions of giving her the rose all along, but he had obviously left it for her nevertheless. It was a small gesture, but she found it to be painstakingly sweet. How badly her throat burned, yearning to release a few sweet words of thanks. She found herself bringing one hand to her color bone, her palm felt cold against the warmth of her upper chest. It was soothing, and kept the words from escaping her lips.

Her eyes danced between gazing towards him, and the rose. She was now imagining her finger tips tracing over his perfectly carved face, rather than the petals of the rose. Somehow she knew it would be just as delightful of a sensation, possibly more so. Though Bella was the extroverted sort of girl, she wasn't at all bold enough to act on mere fantasies. She barely knew the boy after all.

She could practically hear his breath escaping his lips once he managed to come a bit closer. In reaction, she drew further away. Only to finally give in and make her way towards the rose. Just as she imagined, the petals were silky and smooth. She sighed happily at the thought. She ahdn't forgotten of the boy who ad brought the small gift though. she couldn't possibly with him trying to force words out of her.

She felt utterly rude, not being able to thank him, and completely denying him of his request to hear her voice. Belle couldn't at all imagine why he was so keen to hear her speak. They had absolutely nothing in common to speak of any how. Regardless, she was glad of his concern. It was nice to know that someone was making a genuine effort to get to know her. It was quite the troublesome situation. She felt torn between her mind and her heart. This was never a fun battle to fight.

Belle soon enough found her daring intuition kicking in. She had gone nearly a month now in silence, moping about with nothing but books and cleaning to look forward to. She would be completely insane to let the opportunity of befriending this seeming prince charming slip away.

For a long moment she bowed her head in though, her hands tugging nervously at the bottom of her nightgown. After sometime though, she looked up. Her soft ocean eyes met his and she allowed her bare feet to silently move across the floor. In a moment's time she was standing right before him. if she were any closer they would certainly be touching. She rose effortlessly to the tips of her toes and brought her soft, gentle lips to the tender of his neck, just below his ear. At first she wasn't sure if she could even find her voice. in fact, she was worried that it would have become rough and distasteful by this point. To her own surprise however, her words were just as silky as the rose petals that she had just touched. Her feminine chords could only be compared to the melody of a harp. Her words were barely more audible than a whisper, but that was the main reason she had gotten so close in the first place
"Thank you for the flower Everett"

Who Could Ever Love A Beast?
T A L E a s O L D a s T I M E

XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXAfter her leaning in so close, Everett was picking up on signals he knew she wasn’t meaning to be sending out. It was all too confusing in the fact that she was close to him instead of the other way around. For a month now he had been chasing her around. All of that work for a simple smile or nod. Her lips dropped open to speak. They were so full and not even close to being nervous. Everett thought of meeting hers with his own, but it would be completely inappropriate. A staggered breath escaped his lips as he waited for her to say something. He expected it to be some kind of compliment or secret due to her behavior. ”Thank you for the flower, Everett.” The very first time her voice transferred into his brain, Everett was heart stuck. This was the angel’s instrument he was waiting to hear. Quiet and soothing. It sent a soaring sensation through his body, only intensifying his sudden urge to kiss her. But he wouldn’t.

XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXA lust for her was beginning to grow. Everett thought it to be sinful, but telling himself not to only made the matter worse. The second time her voice ran through his mind, Everett paid attention to her words. ”Thank you for the flower, Everett.” He glanced at the flower forgetting he had ever even brought it in. Remembering he set it down on the table, he figured out how she could assume it was for her. It was better for her to think she got a flower than to tell her he really just broke the vase after transforming into a werewolf. The third time Bella’s voice played to him, he determined the purpose of her tone. ”Thank you for the flower, Everett.” She was so quiet then. It explained the reasons for her to be so close, but why the need to be quiet? The intrigue didn’t help him either.

XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXOnce he was done absorbing her voice and memorizing it’s beauty, Everett decided it was about time he replied. ”You’re welcome.” He said with a calm strength. His voice purred deeply as it bounced off her and back to him again. Everett’s head drew close hers, and then away in an instant. After stepping away, Everett cleared his throat in order to keep himself from doing anything else with her. His voice increased it's volume. ”Will you be coming down for breakfast this morning?” This time Everett wasn’t expecting to hear her respond. It would be nice nonetheless, but he assumed the thank you was a rare moment. One that he would cherish.

"... Everett."

His reaction was timeless. Her big observing eyes studied him profoundly for a long moment. He seemed to be battling within himself, hooked on the tenderness of her voice for quite sometime. Eventually, he withdrew..coughing nervously as if he literally couldn't bare to be so close to her a moment longer. But, this action wasn't out of disgust..she could tell by the flushed look upon his face. Belle was rather pleased with herself. Somehow she had managed to make him feel this way, and with only a few simple words. it was truly miraculous.

She had to forcefully bite down on her lip to keep a sort of smug grin from forming. she didn't want to seem arrogant, or too assertive. her slender arms crossed upon her chest and she turned away fora moment, intending to walk to the far side of the room. Her actions paused quickly enough, he had decided to speak. An apparent invitation for breakfast. she wasn't at all very hungry, but she had already decided that it was nice having Everett around. Instead of distracting her mind with constant cleaning, she could distract herself with something far more interesting..a certain boy. In response, she simply nodded her head, motioning for him to get out of the room so she could change into something more acceptable.

Once he had cleared the room, she shut the door ever so gently behind him. it wasn't just her voice that had lost it's sound. Almost all of Belle's actions were graceful and more importantly, silent. It wasn't very much of a process from there on. All the girl managed to do was allow her hair to fall free from its bun, and brush it's entire length until the waves were soft and smooth. Beyond that, she allowed her night gown to fall to the floor beside her neatly made bed. It was soon enough replaced with a soft white summer dress, less silky in material. Her feet slipped into a pair of silver sandals and she took the extra time to stop and spray a bit of lilac scented perfume onto the nape of her neck before exiting the room.

It was a good hing she hadn't cleaned, or she would have wandered just a bit further down the hall and seen the broken vase and tattered wall. If that were the case, she would have become particularity suspicious. Belle was rather inquisitive, and she wasn't one to believe excuses either. Still, chances were she'd never pin point the true secret of the boy whom she was quickly becoming fond of.

In any case, she hadn't wandered down the hall at all. Instead she made her way down the long entanglement of stairs. Her finger tips brushed against the cool marble railing. Her old home ahdn't even had a second floor. The luxuries of this mansion still awed her, even after nearly a month's stay. Her feet seemed to float down the steps, and she made her way to the bottom soon enough. From there, she simply crossed through the sitting room and towards the dining room, where she expected Everett would be waiting.

Who Could Ever Love A Beast?
T A L E a s O L D a s T I M E

XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXThe steaming and high-pressured water rolled down Everett’s his bare skin creating a swirling pool of water in the bathtub beneath him. Gently shampoo bubbles floated down the drain. His full arms stretched up at rub his neck. This was exactly what he needed, a relaxing shower to get the day going. After getting cleaned up, Everett turned off the water and stepped into his tiled bathroom with a towel hugging his hips. It was merely held up in the center with his hands. Everett stepped over to the fogged up mirror, wiped away the moisture, and stared at his half naked body in the mirror. Bella would be meeting him for breakfast in a matter of minutes. He wanted to look good for her, although he wasn’t completely sure why.

XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXAfter drying off and doing the daily toothbrush routine, Everett slipped back on the clothes he put on this morning. He couldn’t possibly wonder off to his closet and pick an entirely new outfit. That would just let her know he was trying too hard to impress her. Everett would have to stay casual before he got dangerously hung up on her. Flipping his fingers through his no longer damp hair, Everett was trying to get it back to its original state. It wasn’t a difficult goal to achieve considering his hair was simply placed on his head. He never styled it or got interesting cuts. It was just there. It was a miracle he still looked good with it.

XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXEverett’s shirt clung to his chest and abs. He gently tugged at it so his features weren’t so dramatic while having breakfast. There were a lot of unwelcome butterflies inside Everett’s stomach, but at the same time he was glad to have a feeling other than rage. Having Bella around would be very therapeutic. Perhaps she could change him into a better man. Then he wouldn’t have to worry about waking up to a huge mess and spend a fortune on repairs. After making his final examinations in the mirror, Everett walked down to the breakfast table. Everything was already said and waiting for them to eat. Compliments to the chef. He thought smelling the air. Everett could already tell what was on the plates. Even before lifting the top.

XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXThe moment Bella walked into the room, a new smell arrived. Everett’s nostrils were filled with a wave of sweet lilacs. His eyes closed as he inhaled the enchanting aroma. Everett glanced up at her to see a glowing face. She wore a simple summer dress, but it made her look elegant all the same. Her natural beauty could make even the easiest of outfits look stunning. ”You look wonderful.” Everett said reassuringly. This was possibly the first comment he’d given out in several months. ”Sit?” He asked as more of a request. Everett tried not to focus too much on her glorious scent. He was becoming completely infatuated with her. Of course, being a werewolf with an incredible sense of smell didn't help.

Infatuation was a marvelous thing. It was the exact reason she had been so keen when it same to avoiding Everett. She was simply infatuated by him. By keeping a safe distance she had ensured that her heart would be safe. She would not have to worry about a silly crush on top of feeling broken hearted from the loss of her father. But, she had messed that all up. Just one sentence, one sentence changed everything. Her heart was already pounding at the mere sight of him.

Her soft eyes studied his figure curiously. He seemed to become even more handsome each time she laid eyes upon him. It was an almost inhuman beauty he possessed, one that she both awed and feared at the very same time. Somehow, she managed not to stare for to long. His words had caught her off guard, snapping her out of the pathetic trance that she had been sucked into.

"You look wonderful." The compliment struck her as sincere. She really couldn't help but give him a soft smile of thanks. Her cheeks growing hotter as she did so. She wished that she wouldn't act so foolish, but at least she didn't have to talk..she'd most likely really mess things up with that one.

Just as he suggested that she take a seat, her body made its way into a seated position at the table. Her eyes finally ore themselves away from him and she curiously studied the food before her. It was such an extravagant meal, at least compared to what she had grown up with. A tinge of guilt made its way through her. She somehow felt as if she was exploiting her father by accepting it. but, oh she was hungry..
