Is all that we see or seem... So as the title says this is a discussion on Religion. Let me know what Religion[[if any]] you follow and how is that going to affect your parenting. Will you raise your child by that religion or allow your child[[ren]] to follow their own path?
Also I was thinking of maybe making a list of who follows what on this post. That way if you want to talk to others whose Religion either interest you or you follow as well, you'll be able to. Let me know if it's a good idea.
P.S.: Please be tolerant of others and their Religion, so please no flaming!! ...but a dream within a dream?

Is all that we see or seem... Ok sooo...I'll be starting this off, then?
I was born and raised by a Christian grandmother and a VERY Atheist Father. I always believed in somehting but didn't like the Christian way, I guess? Personally to me [[not that I have anything against Christians]] I always felt that those who followed the Christian Go [[along with Jahweh{sp?}, Jehovah, etc.]] were slaves to that God. I don't know if that makes any sense but I always felt uncomfortable in a church. Anyways around my freshman year of HS I met one of my Dad's friend who was a Pagan and practiced many things such as witchcraft, magick, shamanism, etc. Since then I have been a Proud pagan and am COMPLETELY out of the closet [[and no...not in the gay sense although I am bi]]. Half of my family supports me while the other half still tries to convert me.
I will NOT be raising my daughter and future children to be Pagan. I will, of course, explain what my Religion is to them, but I will do the same with others. I find it important to allow someone to choose and follow their own path, and not necessarily their family's. I will, though, come up with some cute games and arts & crafts for her to do during my holidays because, come on. What child doesn't like celebrating just about any holiday? Especially if there's something fun to do?? We'll also be celebrtaing some christian and Catholic holidays due to the Christian half of my family and the Catholic side from my Husband's [[he's Agnostic though]]. Also when the time comes and my children choose a path of Religion [[if any..not everyone follows a Religion]] I will gladly support them to my fullest capability. I will drive to church, mosque, etc if neede and so on.
...but a dream within a dream?

I am agnostic. I was raised in a church of christ and grew up feeling odd about the whole thing... It always felt like I was just blindly following a stranger's belief system because I was told that was the only way. I believe there is something higher than us, but I also believe we cannot possibly know what he/she/it is. We just believe all our opinions to be true. I believe in being a good person, and loving people as people. I am very hippyish if you haven't already gathered as much. I am very open-minded and liberal.
I hope to raise my daughter to be as open-minded and free-thinking as possible. I am thinking about teaching her about all different religions and maybe taking her to different churches to educate her. She can adopt any religion as her own, or follow her own set of beliefs. As long as she knows to be a good person and follow her own heart.

Well, I was raised following the lutheran religion. My father's side of the family is lutheran, but my mother's side is catholic. When my mum married my father, she converted to lutheranism[?] because she had decided she didn't want to raise her children as catholic, because of the harsh way they can be raised.
Personally now, and my parents don't care, I've decided to convert to paganism. While I haven't met anyone Pagan yet, sadly, I'd love to meet someone who would help me convert and practice. >w< I still celebrate all the lutheran/catholic religions, christmas, easter, etc. I've thought about raising my children as pagans, but I think I've decided to let them choose what religion they want to be when they're older. I'll celebrate all the regular holidays with them, as well as some pagan religions, because as Moonshine said, what kid doesn't wanna celebrate every holiday possible? ^.^
