I started viola in 5th grade because that's the first year orchestra is offered in my school district. The first song I ever learned was Mary had a Little Lamb. I still have it memorized. The next thing we learned was Twinkle Twinkle, but I never mastered it. I don't know if I can play it perfectly even now. I can play harder music, but that song hates me.

I first started playing when I was in 5th grade, and I can't remember the first song I played, but it was really easy.

I started playing viola in 6th grade in orchestra and we started with the D major scale.

I started in 6th grade =) That was.... like 7 years ago XD I don't remember what my first song was... unless maybe it was Twinkle Twinkle Little Star? That or whatever the first song in the first Suzuki book is. I like looking back some of my old music now again to see how far I've come, and because its a lot of fun!

I started in fourth grade and have no clue what my first song was but I was really crappy at palying. It took me a few years to learn to read notes...I had to write them in all the time... gonk (for triplets we use strawberry or a three sylabble word....sorry off topic).

Fifth grade. I was a violinist for the first month, almost a cellist, but then I realized how sweet a viola could be, and I switched over to that.
My first song was... Ugh. I know what it was, I just cannot seem to remember.
All I know is that when I came home the first day we started learning that song, I brought my instrument up to the top of my hill that is my front lawn with my mother, and she taught me how to play that song by ear. Ah... The days where I was actually good... Heh.
