Proffesor Deej Ah! Good of you to come. Welcome. My name is David Alexander, but everyone calls me Proffesor Deej. I am Gaia's Resident Pokémon Researcher, and you my friend... Well you are going to help me in my quest. Behold! This is one of my subjects of research. This is a Pokemon!

You see, Pokémon are fantastic creatures that not too long ago appeared in this region. I have been researching them since... well as long as I can remember! What is so great about them you ask? That knowledge is something you will have to learn on your own to fully apreciate their charm. You see, many have already discovered the greatness of Pokémon and I am sure you can join their ranks.
Pokémon are unlike many creatures. A certain factor in their molecules allows for their bodies to experience a reduction of mass if exposed to a certain compound that... Oh Dear... There I go again with big words. I'm sure I bored you with those. In plain English, You can capture Pokémon and domesticate them with the use of a certain device. But we will talk about that later. There are many people that already have taken a Pokémon companion. Some breed them, others raise them as pets, others battle them. How you chose to build your relationship with yours, is entirely up to you.
Oh my! Look at the time! I still have much to discuss with you. Here, put this on!... ... ... ...

Proffesor Deej The item I have just given you is a highly sophisticated peice of technology. I call it the Gaia Pokégear 3000. GP3K for short. The GP3K is essential for your journey. You see, this beauty is your library of knowledge to the Pokémon world. Any and all Pokémon you see will be recorded in it's database and transfered directly to our servers here in my lab. Nifty little thing, huh?
The GP3K can also provide you with the time, date, act as a radio wave receiver and many other things. Meaning it's a watch, calendar and a radio altogether! As for the other things, well there are people out there in Gaia that have created other applications that may allow the GP3K to work in other wonderful ways.
But Proffesor, this sounds expensive, how can I pay for it? Nonesense. If you are going to work for me I gotta provide you with the tools that will allow you to perform as needed. Now don't look at me like that! When I say work I mean researching Pokémon. And to do that, you will need to journey across Gaia and who knows, possibly the world. Meaning, while I sit here and compile all the data you send me, you are out there on one big vacation. And you thought you were conned when I said work. I do all the work while you go to the beach, or hike a mountain... Ungrateful brat!
Anyways... It is time for you to choose a partner. Of course you didn't think I would send you off just yet. Did you? Come. Follow me!

Proffesor Deej I'm glad you are keeping up, kiddo. It is difficult to find good help now a days. Stop messing around with the GP3K! You'll have more than enough time to play with it later. Anyways. Here is another gift from me to you. This is called a Pokéball!
Although it may not seem like much, this little device allows you to capture any Pokémon out there in the world. Now here... Have this one. Out here in this field there are plenty of Pokémon I have brought together to allow you to choose a partner. Since you only got one Pokéball from me, you will only be able to choose one Pokémon out of the bunch. Meaning... Choose wisely. Go on! Jump to it! The faster you get your first Pokémon, the faster I can give you the last bit of information and the faster I can send you out to do your "job".

Proffesor Deej Alright! All Done? Let's see who you chose... ... ... Interesting choice. I can see you and your new Pokémon will weave a great story together. You would do good in giving your Pokémon a name. Not necesary, but it would be a good thing to do for it. Well? How was your first experience capturing a wild Pokémon? Excilarating, no? Word to the wise, so listen well. Keep in mind not all wild Pokémon will be captured that easily. Many might put a fight and break the Pokéball. That's where your new partner can help you. If you are able to weaken the wild Pokémon, it will be easier to capture. Not only that but you may find more powerfull Pokéballs out there. The good news is that you can keep up to six Pokémon with you. Meaning, better strategies in battles, different breeding technics and innumeral training technics. Don't think that once you have six, you won't be able to capture more. No... To the contrary, you can capture as many as you want. You see... Your GP3K will link each capture with a storage account. Any capture over six will be automatically transfered to the storage where you wll be able to manage, replace and move all the Pokémon you capture. Am I boring you yet? Hahahaha!
Here... One last thing before I send you off...

Proffesor Deej I promise this is the last thing. The world is not a very friendly place. You will find that there are things out there that will not be friendly towards you. Wether you use your Pokémon as pets or battle comanions, you would do well to remain strong. A strong partner will be able to help you out of tight spots. What I mean by this is... Watch yourself out there. Don't try any senseless heroics, and if you do... Make sure I don't find out.
I told you how the GP3K can be a multitasker and hold multiple programs to help you, right? Well, one of those programs will be a messanger system. Anytime I need to contact you, I will send you a message through the GP3K. Keep an eye out on the messages. There should already be one in there. I sent you a lot of details about your journey. Make sure to give it a look. Who knows... Reading over it might earn you some experience or a nice new application for your GP3K. Of course... Only if you can answer a couple of questions about the message subject. Hahahahaha!
Alright! Now get out of here! Go find as much as you can about Pokémon. Oh... And... Good Luck, Kid!
