The orca male stood outside the den, proud but full of sorrow. He had not fully recooperated from the loss of his mate and queen. The one he truly loved with all of his heart and soul. His steel blue eyes seemed to grow colder with each growing day. No female seemed to satisfy that part of him. Laeyna was only his queen...she could never be Shairi. They had mated twice, one willing the other not as much. Fullfilling his fathers debt. His tail curled around his leg, his pride numbers were dwindling. Most were his childeren and grand children. They were once great...now, he could only hope for that same greatness. He moved back to lay down and lay his weary head on his paws to look out in the distance.

Adrastos rolled around his own misfortune while Laeyna was griping about he was no longer the leader he was after his beloved Shairi left. But who could blame him. He gave up other females for her and what did she do? She left him, usually the other females he had stayed with him. Aside from Bri who was just a friend and found her calling elsewhere and Knarnia whom had run off with his son from Briseis. Talk about a cougar, but he was still prowling around looking for any possible way to bounce back if it were possible. His cool eyes moved to the borders and his legs followed…
It had been a long, cold road for the sun conure femme. She moved and had a cub trailing her, she looked most like her the other cub looked too much like her father for her want to keep it. Now that she thought about it, she didn’t want this one either. She stopped and a low rumble erupted from her warning the cub. Raina’s eyes seemed to bulge, “Momma?” Kila turned around and snarled at her, when the cub moved forward to her she swatted it rejecting the cub. She took off at a speed the kit couldn’t follow and left the kit to fend for itself in this eat or be eaten world. She had…better things to do then take care of an unwanted cub.
Raina retained a nasty gash going across her eye. It started to swell as well as bleed onto the savanna floor. She whimpered as she looked around to see where she was going with her good eye. The blood was bound to attract predators and she could easily become prey being so young. She knew where she needed to go, she needed to find her brother Tabansi wherever he was.
The lion chuffed as he walked his borders, warning for any male to try him. He was getting aggravated for no apparent reason and wanted a fight. He had a lot of anxiety he wanted to just get out. He wouldn’t take it out on his own offspring. His steel eyes searched and searched before finding a cheetah close to his border and with sheer happiness chased it off.
Kila watched from a nearby rock the male. She knew who it was, it was Adrastos. He was a nice lion…but she was loathing males all together. It wasn’t soon before Adrastos had picked up the scent of the female. All female, no male scents going with it. But he couldn’t figure it out who it was until he saw the golden femme. Kila slinked down from the rocks and behind it in the shade ignoring the orca colored male. Addy couldn’t help but follow and get snarled at. “Tequila what’s wrong with you, you used to be so sweet,” he smiled softly. The female’s tail flicked behind her not amused, “Lions change,” Addy had a feeling he knew what this was about but he wouldn’t ever mention it. She was too fragile of a lioness emotionally. He got on his belly to the ground, a submissive move to the female. He rolled over looking at her upside down, the adult looked somewhat silly but he was trying to cheer her up. The female glared at him and rested her head upon her paws.
“Where’s Raina?” he inquired. Kila looked at him dumbly, “Whose Raina?” she asked with pure curiosity. Addy’s thoughts went to an horror like state. The poor cub. He wondered what happened to her. Hopefully, she was still alive. “No one…” he said softly. The once strong willed, head strong and once Queen was now delusional and perhaps a cub killer. How lovely. He sighed softly to himself watching the female for a few moments deciding what to say. “How’ve you been?” Smooth move he thought to himself. He continued to keep his eyes on her as he flipped over to have an adult conversation.
“Not much, same old same old I suppose,” the femme didn’t smile nor looked at him. She only gazed into the distance as if she were in some dreamlike state or in some other world other than the one they were living. His heart went out to her, or whatever he had left of it. His eyes narrowed thinking of Shairi, he didn’t need her anyways. Kila was right here and it was just peachy. “Impressive,” he responded with an charming grin. Kila didn’t get it so she just rolled her eyes and got to her feet to leave.
“Please don’t go Kila,” he ran back to her rubbing against her side and nosing her cheek. She rumbled but didn’t lash out. The touch of him…the want and the need that was installed deep inside her chest. And then…she could feel it the wetness from her eyes draining making her cheeks redder from the water washing the savanna dirt from her face. She buried herself in that thick white mane, it smelled like the ocean. So freeing…it was what she needed for so long. A strong male in her life. Not like Tic Tac he was so pathetic she wanted to slap herself silly for even being with him. He was hardly her type, but Adrastos…he had many kids, many flings and no mate. She could care less, he was hers for the moment and she would hold on to that dearly. She was desperate for someone to protect and to hold her. For now he was doing a better job then that wretched Benoni could ever do. But he seemed to be a long, lost nightmare she had forgotten. That distinguished face turned to a grey blur to a darkened silhouette to a nothingness. The facts of being a queen were gone, she no longer had to look out for anyone but herself and she enjoyed it. She enjoyed not watching anyone. She shouldn’t have to care for anyone else, why should she? They had done nothing for her except b***h and complain. Screw them all. They could kiss her golden a**. She’d love to give all of them a good fight and the things she had committed in the past few months she’d probably enjoy it. She could take them, most if not all females and a handful of males. They had a leg up just for being bigger, but she would claw her way through them if she had too. And she would. She marked him with her scent and let her tail trail down his side like she so often did with her ex mate. The tears had gone and the lust was pouring from every part of her body.
The King had no idea to what was happening, he was confused and almost excited at the same time. He never thought he would get this kind of reaction from Tequila. She seemed to loving, to devoted and loyal. This just wasn’t like her but he followed her movements and nuzzled her softly. “Kila are you sure you want this?” he asked gruffly, trying to constrain every inch of his body. “Don’t call me Kila, anything but Kila…it’s all in the past,” she nipped his ears. Addy thought about it for a moment and smirked, “How about Kiki?” He smirked thinking it was somewhat entertaining yet cute at the same time. Her brow rose at him as she slinked next to him. “Sure, I s’pose that works…” She nuzzled him once more.
…several hours later…
The femme sat by the obsidian male with sheer happiness in some ways and others it may be just a façade. Addy rested his head upon Kila’s, “Do you wish to go back to my lands with me? I swear no harm to come of you,” he looked down at earnestly. No female he had been with would he refuse protection. She shook her head, “There is a den near here, if you wish to find me I will be there…I need some time for myself. If I plan on leaving soon…I’ll tell you.” She purred and rubbed against him one last time before leaving…and that’s when the rocky relationship between king and rogue began.
