This man, looking the better portion of forty, stood with his chiseled form fully facing his opponent. He was roughly six feet and an inch tall, weighing near 170 pounds. His hair was a fading black, shot through with a variation of white and gray, and was just long enough to tease the back of his shoulders. Bright blue eyes, like a flash of lightning, were set beneath that. The gaze he offered almost seeming to look beyond, maybe even through, what lay before him. His wizened features matched perfectly his physic, stern and strong.

His attire was fairly simple, mostly oriental in style and set. He wore a simple bead necklace, looped twice around, each connecting piece looking like tiny spheres of blood. Hanging in the center, a circular pendant that resembled a small brass tiger with claws sunk deep into the sides of multifaceted ruby. A black undershirt, topped by a simple red vest acted as the only covering for his muscular chest and broad shoulders. His left arm was covered in off-white wrappings starting at his large knuckles and ending just below the bend of his elbow. The right arm bore similar bands, and both hands wore finely stitched black and gold gloves. Black shorts that ended three inches below his knees, and another pair of white wrappings starting at the base of his toes and ending half-way up his shins, completed his attire.

It was a strange thing indeed to notice the warrior, first...considering the glorious nature of the arena in which these combatants now stood. It was old world architecture, outfitted with what could best be described as artistic bandages...riveted steel and cold iron braces twisting like ancient sea monsters against the moss and colossal stones. And yet, you would always find your eyes pulled back to the monk. As if you sought the truth in him...

That was what he was...

Ancient, more so than massive block arches...

Sturdy, like the nails that held new steel together...

And Fierce In ways that the dying light from a fading sun could never compare.

But most of all, for all the words that described him...and all the ways that sight might build him...he said nothing.

As the sun came to set, and metal underneath her sandals whined with her centered stance. How long had she been still now? A trail of sweat trickled down the crease of her breasts, to the button of her belly, where it sizzled and clung there. There above the rope that strung together her weathered threads, now more than ever she felt her makeshift belt grind it's way into her hips to the cloth of her pants now sticky and stuck across her aching thighs. Down to her ankles that started to burn under the burden of her weight. When would the wind pick up? When would the sweet smell of spring whip against her neck, lifting her black mane against her back like flag at full mast. When would air chill the sweat against her small breasts, or tame the invisible fire that clung to her chapped lips. Where was she? Maine? The thought itself was baffling, why did she waste her her time with naive thoughts of blissful Springs. Hell. Maybe at this rate she'd enroll in High School, and prepare her excessive wardrobe for each day of the week and a chance to meet that special boy.

"Bullshit" she spat before her lips knew they were spittin'. Feeling her cheeks tighten, she forced her lips apart displaying a broad toothy smile. ""What are you waiting for, Pansy a**, an cordial invitation?" Her voice was hoarse, and her fingers chaffed, as they tightened, and clung to her burning ... rod. xD It stood around 6ft in height, and weighed around 15-20 lbs. Still her legs gave a wide stance, as she hunched forward in an attacking motion.

Amid the swirl of vast time, because that's where this old man had been for a rather long span, he remembered an almost endless stream of brash fighters.

They had quick tongues...

Quick tempers...

And more than a one had possessed a quicker blade than ever he'd warrant.

So, he wouldn't dare underestimate this child. Because she WAS lying, and he could practically taste the acrid nature of simplicity she exuded. He could imagine the flavor would taste like moisture dripping from gold statues in royal bath-houses. They're worth was in no way diminished by the heat, or the still dripping wetness...but to the naked observer, it would seem that these treasures were wasted. And as only the naked visited such places, this was often the case.

But she was not lessened by her 'obvious' temper, and she was most certainly not going to make the mistakes that a warrior of no background would make. Because even as she stood there, sweating in her simple attire and cursing the heat and himself, she steadied herself for the war that was coming.

He spoke, and the sound carried a kind of release...the first hot drops of rain pecking dessert sands that had gone thirsty for centuries untold. And yet, he said nothing that she wouldn't know...or at the very least feel as his muscles tensed with the slightest detectable force.

"By the way, I am called Arashi..."

How he got so far, so very quickly, wouldn't baffle the mind...because it was a very obvious conclusion.

He ran...

And yet, he wasn't pushing himself forward in the least. His speed had played out as he came within her critical reach, now he was just moving forward, his hands clenched into white-knuckle fists covered by his gloves that seemed to be working themselves into a shape that could accommodate the rocks that hung suspended at the end of his arms.

She'd feel the sweat tip at her chin now, as her smile broadened even more. Her lips cracked a bit, at this rate, she'd surely bust her own lip. She felt her muscles about the burst, she wasn't listening to him, not really. It was too hot. Somewhere inside her she felt something growl within her. Shake her, and shutter down her back like rocks down a well. She was hungry. Damn hungry, and this idling wasn't doing s**t to curb it. Snapping her eyes into focus, she moved before thinking, her left foot sliding back, while her right arm tensed, and drew upward, and across her chest. Not right across her chest, for her left hand met it and slid upward against her shaft of her weapon. Now with one hand a quarter from the middle of her weapon she might be to outside of his fists. As he was coming to her, her movement would allow her to be to his left, and outside? In this her body snapped, and her hips led the way for her body to turn, turn into his, at this point, as his body neared, no was it already there, her blade would be aligned with the crook of his neck, in a downward succession.

"Who the hell asked you your name!?!"

Flawless...

He turned, pivoted on his left heel as foot felt sand, facing her again as he pushed himself down under her blow and inward. He brought his left shoulder to bare against the haft of her weapon, right hand catching it near his chin to hold it in place as he slid further up the handle.

Creating a new fulcrum...

His left arm wrapped it in an opposing grip, making certain that she wouldn't be pulling it away, either. Engaged as he was, Arashi pushed back with his every honed muscle working like the machine he had MADE it.

He literally drove the opposite end of the spear down toward the ground, forcing her to either attempt to fight for control, or relinquish the weapon entirely. But it really didn't matter, because he'd never intended to disarm her...he just wanted to make certain that when he kicked her in the face, she wouldn't be trying to stab him.

And that's just what happened, he violently exerted the force of an upward leap down onto the pole as he let the lengthy blade slide off to his left, most likely down onto the ground, as he spun into the air and rolled over the haft. His right foot didn't extend, as it wouldn't have nearly the same effect or strength as the left would when it came around and snapped her in the chin with a full rotation of momentum and sheer weight of muscle.

Throughout the first part of the strike, he kept his left hand firmly wrapped around the handle...just in case he needed to get back to the ground before his attack had succeeded...because if it did...

He would be able to land at his leisure.

Without hesitation on his strength, and his hand pushing the end of her weapon downward, instead of dropping, or fighting for control she let him push it down, letting the momentum spring him up, where she let her legs also relinquish control. In this she slide her hand upwards, mind you this wouldn't even take a moment. she didn't need to think to pull this one off. Letting her back hit the ground and her right hand pull the right end of her Yokomitsu upwards, his full rotation would severe his leg from his body. Or it could have plunged into his awaiting gut. His eyes would follow his rotation not lead it, and the angle her weapon would be level where her head was.

Unexpected, and effective. The world had not failed to impress him, no matter where he went and whom he encountered.

But she had placed herself on the ground, and she had put her weapon next to her...one that happened to have an agile monk swinging around it like some sort of pole dancer.

Which is why he kept his hand with the weapon, and why he never wasted his time going into a spin...she'd reacted before the critical point, because she had to...but now it was his time to do the same.

His right hand lashed out, catching hold again in a reversed hand over hand as he spun around the haft that had originally been rising up to harm him...now, she'd put herself at the business end of that blade much as had been her intentions for him...

Opposites they were, one lying prone...the other flying high like a banner...a very heavy banner.

He ended his spin by landing on both feet and turning his left hand over and around the grip to swing her Yokomitsu hard over his left shoulder...a move that would send the opposite blade cleaving deep into, a most likely through, the girl. The other blade, the one that was even now engaged in moving its self in a circle over and harmlessly under his shoulder.

It was simply too late, the weapon was angled level with her own head, and there would be no way to push herself into a roll that quickly...he almost hoped that she had a miracle in the making, because he didn't like killing her like this.

He had made the mistake of thinking she'd just let him handle her weapon as he pleased. As his hands occupied themselves with this turn, she saw an opening and took it. Her leg snapping to attention, she hoisted herself up her sheath just a bit. You see he was spinning after all, his body couldn't guard against any oncoming attacks. As his rounded to a stop, his back would be facing her oncoming kick. Since he had no leverage to speak of, no way of seeing her kick, since in fact his back would be to her, this kick might in fact launch him from her weapon rather efficiently across the arena. Mind you, this would be before his feet ever touched the ground. If this all came full circle, her arms would have hoisted her up completely, her Yokomitsu at her left side, she let it drop lightly across her chest to her awaiting right hand.
