Edward Cullen - the epitome of the perfect man?
Oh, yes - he is so sweet, and caring, and thoughtful, etc, etc, etc.
Hell no! He is an abusive, obsessive, control freak!

Sorry for the huge post...

buuuut, we must remember it is fiction. irl, if some guy was sneaking into my room by night and then watching me, i'd be creeped out and probably call the police and get a restraining order. but, in the books, bella is positively delighted that eddykins is in her room. and seeing as it's written from bella's point of view, who tends to overlooks things such as that on focus on how hot he is, and how much she loves him, then the reader also thinks like bella and falls in love with him too. and by that stage, who cares if he's a bit stalky?

The fact that it's from Bella's POV isn't really a great reason to overlook these things. That's why there's such a thing in literature as an unreliable narrator. (I link TV Tropes rather than Wikipedia because TV Tropes is more fun.)

About Edward and Bella's choice for Bella to be a 'vampire'...
Edward really didn't want Bella to be a 'vampire' right? He'd rather have her live to be some old lady. But he did it anyways, so, it was his choice, not hers?

But apparently, this reasoning falls completely out of the window because Bella has been whining for Edward her to turn her since day one.

But yeah, in the end, the decision was always entirely his to make. :/

As Countess Annabelle Moore said in the post quoted below, Carlisle offered to turn her. In theory, if Edward had stuck to his guns on this decision, Bella would have had the option to allow someone else to turn her instead.

Countess Annabelle Moore
>>Edward didn't want Bella to be a vampire.
Bella was very persistant.
Carlisle was actually going to turn her after graduation, but Bella really wanted Edward to do it so they made the "you marry me, I'll turn you" deal.
And then Bella was freaking out about being a new born and not wanting Edward so the sex deal was added.
But then once they figured out they could have sex, Bella was like, "Hm, a few years isn't so bad. Now that I can have sex with you, maybe I will go to college and wait to become a vampire."
But then she got knocked up.User Image

That makes no sense. If Bella had become a vampire and ended up only craving blood for a year... so what? She would be immortal, and would have all the time in the world to boink Edward. This hints to me that Meyer made this excuse up as a way to get them to have pre-vampire sex just to conceive Renesmee.

But yeah, vegetarian basically means the person does not eat meat or fish, rather that they eat fruits, veggies, and grains.

Drinking ANY sort of blood is NOT vegetarianism, unless it's plant blood, and since that doesn't exist, the Cullens are NOT vegetarian vampires.

You want a vegetarian vampire? Go read Bunnicula.

The "vegetarian" vampire thing might not have been intended to apply to the literal food choice the Cullens made, but the fact that (like some vegetarians) their diet is dictated by their morals.

I may not like Stephenie Meyer, but I'll give her the benefit of the doubt that she knows what vegetarian means. XD

Countess Annabelle Moore
>>He was infatuated.
He couldn't sleep.
He was able to do it without getting caught.User Image

Just because he could do it doesn't mean he should have. For someone so obsessed with trying to do what's right, Edward's morals sure are flexible.

Countess Annabelle Moore
>>I don't think that was Eddy's intention either neutral
Sure, it's kinda creepy. But it's also pretty innocent stalking.User Image

There's no such thing as "innocent" stalking. It's an invasion of one's right to privacy.

Countess Annabelle Moore
>>Well, yeah, I get it, but she lets him do it after she finds out.
And that's just him being overprotective because he's doesn't want to lose her.
She's a fragile human, you know.User Image

He doesn't own Bella, so until she gave him permission to follow her, he had no right to intrude on her privacy. She's not his possession to protect.

Vegetarianism is defined as "a diet that consists of fruit, grains, and nuts; excludes meats and fish". Considering they're eating deer, which is meat, they are not vegetarians.

And I don't give Meyer the benefit of the doubt on ANYTHING. She's proven me wrong too many times. stressed

We'll have to agree to disagree, then.

Of course they're not vegetarians. Edward said that was an inside joke between he and his family. Not to be taken literal.

this is off the topic you guys were currently discussing but i was just thinking, as earlier posted, edward isn't necessarily a stalker he just goes about things wrong. perhaps it's because he doesn't have really any experiance with girls. like rosealie said in... eclipse i think, edward NEVER took interest in ANY girls that he met in almost a hundred years. so maybe he acts so obsessive, posessive, overprotective, stalkerish, and abusive because he's never really been with a girl despite how he sees his family act with their significant others, he probably just doesn't know how to handle these new emotions.

but by all means he is NOT the perfect man. there are a many who are closer to that who are NOT fictional. and thats saying something. xd
