Some people decided to read 52 books in one year. They did great, even exceeded their challenges. For me, that's at least a hundred books behind my yearly reading potential.

So, I've given myself a difficult goal. 100 books in one year. Novels nourish me better than meals.

So here, I'm going to document my progress.

EDIT: After January's progress, this has been scaled back from 300 to 100. If I speed up, the goal may increase.

One more, just in case.

I just finished Leftovers, and let me tell you, that book is amazing. Wiess' books take you into some ugly places, and make you feel what these girls are going through, and it isn't pretty. You can assume the characters are being teenage dramatists, or you can take what happens as presented, but either way, her characters are always fighting for their lives, to survive the situations they find themselves in.

This is also the first repeat author of the year. Surprised?

I highly recommend anything by Laura Wiess.

Just finished An Abundance of Katherines. There was a high quantity of math in the book, but I kept reading to the end for a very clever voice.

I'm glad I finally picked up a John Green book. As a friend of Maureen Johnson's, he holds his own well.

I believe reading multiple books at the same time is greatly slowing down my process.

I made the mistake of starting I Wanna Be Your Joey Ramone before finishing Pretty Monsters.

Plus my dear, dear spouse is insisting I pick up a 900 page omnibus.

Well, I've gotten farther than I thought I would this month. Seven books.

I don't really want to rush the next two, though.

Pretty Monsters was amazing. I'm glad I didn't rush that one, slowly appreciating the stories was the way to go.
