And for my first q.... for the past several days I have been having severe abdominal/vaginal pains. When I went to the clinic for my checkup yesterday I was in severe pain; I could not stand alone, it hurt to much to pee in the cup, and then I passed out and hit my head on the wall. It was some DRAMA in the ob/gyn. Doc examined and said my cervix looked fine, that it's just Braxton-Hicks. Well it's PAINFUL as HELL and my concern is that incompetent cervix runs in my family-when my mom was 6 mos pregnant with me she almost lost me because of it. For right now that looks ok, but I was wondering if anyone else had experienced this at all. Pain is mostly in my uterus and cervix, a heavy pressure and sometimes cramping... plus the wondrous back pain that's oh-so-typical in the 2nd trimester. Any clues? Thanks.

hey sweetie!, well like i mentioned in the comment on your page, i had some pain myself..and also had breakthrough bleeding..which is apparently considered normal but i don't see how...anyway, i wish i could tell you i know the answer, but all i know to ask is are you getting enough iron? enough rest? are you on your feet a lot? (i worked at a daycare the last 2 1/2 months of my pregnancy and the doc said that could be causing some of the pain) also, if you're feeling it lower, sometimes the baby is positioned really weird and they like to forget that you've got stuff in there yourself ..lol.. that's what ethan did a lot, sometimes he would even get underneath my ribs and i couldn't move!...i know that's not the answer you're looking for, but unfortuntely we just have to go with what the doctor tells us (BUT we also have our mommy instincts, and if worse comes to worse i'd get a second opinion maybe)

oh dear. that doesn't sound good. with mac i had an episode where i went to stand up and had horrible pain in my pelvic area. had to sit right back down. couldn't walk. i bawled till hubby got home and ran me to the hospital. course by then it went away and they tortured me to find out what was going on. only thing i can think is to tell them what your mom's history is and put your foot down that you do not think it is just braxton hicks. braxton hicks don't make it hurt to use the bathroom. you have to be mean and make them figure out what is wrong. hate how dr's treat you like you are just a hormonal pregnant lady and don't know anything.

anyway. i let the dr tell me my swelling was normal. turned out i had toxemia and they had to induce. didn't find it till 3 days till due date. mac's placenta was tiny. they carried it away in one of those throw up bins. we were lucky she was ok. now if i know something isn't right i'm rather pushy.

i'm not sure. been awhile. mine started with mac , i think around 3 weeks before she was due.

i was having them earlier with dakoda. i want to say it was 4-5 weeks before he was born.

it differs for everyone...there isn't really a 'starting point' for braxton hicks...i never had them except for one time at work, but that was it...so not everyone gets them...they are just 'practice contractions' but if you don't get them, don't worry

i have a friend who is 15 weeks and was having some braxton hicks. if you are having them a good thing to do is rest for a few minutes and drink some water.

I've been in the hospital 3 days in a row! The ER sucks man. Anyway, I've had yet another new symptom... acute chest pain in my right side. It only hurts when I breathe. They checked for clots in my legs, (dunno how that will tell them if there are any in my lung) and I was clear, so they decided it's the baby pushing up and I'll be better in 13 weeks. HA. Meanwhile, it hurts to breathe. Argh! Anyone else having/had this problem??

i never hurt unless baby pushed agains my ribs but i was always short of breath. i had to start sleeping on the couch at an angle to be able to breath when i slept.
