I'm just collecting information for a story, and I need several opinions. It's a romance, obviously.
So...what are several reasons why liking your best friend is not a good idea? Why falling in love with them isn't good?

A. They might not love you back so that provides a damn awkward solution. B. It might not be love at all, but your faulty imagination C. They see you in a non-romantic light, so they talk ALL THE TIME about their love life, which makes you jealous. D. They're dense and slow on the uptake, maybe even think you're joking when you confess.

Liking your best friend is one thing, but if anything happens, if they do like you back, sometimes it can be very easy to just slide into that closer relationship; the problem is to going back to being just friends if you decide to break it off. You know more about each other now, have more history, and there is no way to completely forget that.
The way I see it, the main problem is that there is every possibility you could lose your best friend---you could be gaining a loving partner, for the long term or otherwise, but that might fall through as well.
