Darcy listen and watched Octavius. The reaper's child had such grace and skill. He took a deep breath and moved towards the field. It would be so much easier if he went by the water but he didn't think he would have the skill to keep his wings in tight enough. He worked on slowing down his legs moving as if he was really running. He kept his wings working slowly wanting to make sure he didn't stumble too bad.
It seemed that his pride kept him from falling on his face but he did stumble a bit on his landing and unfortunately he felt a sharp sting run up his right back leg as he tweaked it a bit. "Ouch...." he lifted it up to rest it a bit. "Well looks like I made it huh?" He made his way slowly and carefully over to the water's edge.

Reaching the shore, Octavius shook off and ran to Darcy to see how he did with his first landing. Upon seeing Darcy's rear leg held up he ran even faster worry and... fear? on his face. He skidded to a stop next to him, a shower of dust and grass flying. "Are you okay?!" He checked Darcy's leg with a tenderness rarely exhibited. "Lets find a place to rest, you look exhausted. There is a good spot not too far off." He nodded to a small grove of trees near the lake. "When we get there we can eat."

Darcy's cheeks could not hlep but burn with blush as he watched Octavius rush over to him and gently check the hurt leg, "I am find...I just sprang it a bit. But do I really look that bad?" He asked with a soft laugh. When the clearing was pointed out he made his way over to it before he carefully lay down. "Well it was very nice I am gald you convinced me to fly. It was really fun. Thank you Octavius." He gave a warm smile up at the son of death. He was embarassed but also he was very happy.

He followed Darcy and fussed around him a bit, making sure he had the best comfort available at the moment. He lay next to him with a sigh "I am so sorry you got hurt, you should have had a bit of training before you flew such a distance or tried to make a landing on hard ground." He looked down a bit ashamed at his lack of thought to the process as a whole. He glanced up out of the corner of his eye. "But you look great, not bad at all. I am glad that you say you enjoyed it."

Listening to the hooded male make such a fuss made Darcy smile. He leaned over and gave an exposed part of Octavius' muzzle a soft lick. "Don't worry about it. I am not hurt that bad. I should be able to walk again soon. I will hop around if i have to to see more of this beautiful place you brought me too..and I think now I know how not to land." he smiled and moved to pull free their lunches.
He placed the open packages down in front of them. "You know you were a very good teacher. And I am glad that I was not a complete fool in the air. I will work on my flight for the next time you wish to go on and outing with me." he shifted his weight a bit to make sure he did not lay on his leg just yet before he lowered his head to start eating. "So this is your family's secret spot huh?"

Octavius took one final look around before settling down to eat his lunch. "I am the only one who comes here... That I know of. I have never seen anyone else here and it is impossible for those who cannot fly to get here so that keeps out many. Others who fly by are not too keen on coming for a visit because my presence here lingers even after I leave making it seem somewhat gloomy and desolate. Luckily I do not have quite the influence my father does or everything would probably be dead." He looked around at the area around them. The animals had gone as far away as possible from his influence.
He then turned all of his attention to his food, he was hungry and the meat had stayed fresh in the wrapping. He kept himself from wolfing down the food in front of him, he didn't want to look piggish in front of Darcy after all. He looked up when he was about halfway through his meal and smiled at Darcy. "It's very good, I will have to thank your mother again the next time I see her."

Darcy shook his head, "There is no need to thank my mother. She will know you are thankful when you return without the food package." he lowered his head again to finish eating his pack carefully and gracefully wail he mulled over the other's first words.
He laughed softly, "I don't see why they would fear you but it is nice to have this place to ourselves." He laughed softly and looked at the hooded male. "Well don't mind me if I ever bring a date here....I don't think my mother would want to seem me as cuddly as she caught us together." He lowered his ears and his black cheeks heated up with remembrance. He had been so into the hooded male he could not have stopped even if he wished it.
"Well I will always enjoy being in your company even if it shall shorten my life." He flashed his friend a charming smile and shifted his body again his tail flicking the feathered tails spreading over the grass. "I find this place very comfortable...your air is very wonderful even if others fear you I am glad we met."

Octavius licked his lips and looked at Darcy thoughtfully "We are afraid of what we don't understand and don't wish to deal with. Love, death, commitment. It is all the same but it is all feared." He sighed melodramatically. "But time spent with you is quite enjoyable, I do hope my presence doesn't shorten your life too much. You're a good companion and I enjoy the time we have got to spend together so far." He smiled up at the sky, his hood shading his eyes.
