Does anyone know what Japanese women wore when theywere pregnant? I want to know because I play the sims and wanted to make an accurate outfit for my pregnant charachters to wear instead of the cheesy pre-made ones for my japanese village. Any suggestions are appreciated! 4laugh

Its is actually quite simple , a thinner obi is worn tied above the stomach and an extra tie is put on the inside so to keep it closed better. Or if your doing something such as riding you can wear Hakama.

So... just like a less tighly wrapped obi...?Thanks! razz

Mostly , the obi is also a bit higher up so as to be above the tummy.

The obi is that rope-belt thing, right?

I don't know so much about eastern clothes T.T

I learned how to dress women in a kimono and tie simple and fancy obi bows a few years ago. One woman was six months pregnant. I had no problem fastening the obi around her since the proper way to wear it starts right at the breasts. A fancy sash will also work and this can be worn high or low.
The kimono should always be of the proper size to fit the individual. Just like western clothes should be larger to accomodate the growing belly, a kimono should be able to wrap around the stomach and have the lines run perfectly verticle.
There are actual tools that are used to dress a woman in her kimono insuring that it's pulled as snug as it's supposed to be and the lines are all straight. It's amazing!
Did you know that there is an underkimono? It's generally white, made of lighter fabric, and has it's own sash to tie it closed. Your sim could wear that as her underclothes. Hope this answers your question!

To answer sennin , the obi is not the rope but the sash made of cloth.

Mmm, that sounds cool. Do you think you can post a picture of the maternity wear when you finish it? It sounds like something that would need a new mesh. *Is an avid simmer*

I have the kimonos! I didn't make them, but I found an awesome downlad for good "meshes"
Here is the link:
Pregnancy Morph
It has pregnancy morphs for all of the maxis outfits, and works with recolors, too!

That's so cool! You can make that by yourself?! I totally love the sims! I wish my laptop worked though, I miss my SIms! Do you have Sims 3? If so, what do you think of it?
