What has FIRST done for you?

For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology

Hello once again my fellow robotics enthusiasts. I just wanted to get you opinion on FIRST Robotics.

Personally, I love this organization. This will be my fourth year participating in the VCU FRC Regional competition, and I hope to continue on as a mentor when I get out of High School. This program has taught me so much, and am so excited that I have been able to make robots as part of a school function.

The program has also brought me closer with one of my best friends, and my other friends on the team. Team 1908 is one great big [generally] happy dysfuntctional family, and I love every one of those crazy bastards.

Like he said, this program has brought me closer to my friends, and it has also taught me a lot about robotics, especially programming, which I plan to have a career in later on in life. Until then, though, I'm looking forward to more sleepless nights looking for parts for the strange contraption our team wants to call a robot, and programming it for hours on end. Most of all, I look forward to the competition itself, as well as the crazy nights at the hotel (not like that, for those of you with dirty minds). All in all, it's an awesome experience, and I'm proud to say I'm part of FIRST, and FIRST will always be a part of me.

Heh i think ryu's last statement goes for almost all FIRST teams in one way or another. but yeah in short FIRST has finally given me a life i can do that'll help me in making my career an easy and fun objective. I can't tell you how many times i've needed FIRST knowledge in everyday life with people and everyday things. Thank you FIRST! exclaim

FIRST is the best thing that's ever happened to me. I had been in and out of a bunch of different groups, being someone I wasn't, because I wanted friends. When I found my team, 1714, I didn't have to change myself. I now have friends who care about me, and I'm more comfortable with who I am. I love my team to death, and I love feeling like I'm part of something.
