I got this question off the Scott Westerfeld blog. But I'm totally curious. Shay goes from good to bad to good to bad to good? Do we all see Shay as a good honest friend who really is awesome or as crazy-can't-save-a-life type-I-don't-like-her? So anyhoo, please post.

Um, it's "Shay" first of all. And I think she went from bad to good, but not that good. She helps Tally-wa in the end of the series and all, but all of Tally-wa's problems have occured because of Shay. Sure, Tally would have become a bubblehead if she hadn't met Shay-la, but really what wrong would that have been? I know, people shouldn't be controlled by society, and I'm completely against the society pressure and all, but I see nothing wrong with the Ugly/Pretty society.
But that's not what this is about. Shay was awful towards Tally- David had chosen Tally over Shay, and Shay couldn't get over it. Shay turned Tally from pretty to special without tally's consent, and it was Shay's fault Tally turned Pretty in the first place. Shay=Evil "best friend."

I never liked shay, through the whole trilogy, I just couldn't stand her. She was good i guess in the beginning, but then she got almost whiney and then she left. I was sad when she came back into the book but whatever, that can't be helped. I personally don't think that she ever went back to the good side. She was just tricking tally most of the time anyway. You can hardly call people like that a friend.

i though shay was fine at first, but now i don't really care for her a lot.... i think she's not all good, still has some bad in her.... that was a crapy answer....i need to reread the series before i really answer this question fully.
