Prologue
It began with a single drop of blood. Whose blood it was is unknown to me. All I know is that crimson drop of life fell upon the ground and yet upon the lips of another. It seemed almost like a dream, that small drop of blood, for it signified the end of one life and the start of another. The end of a mortal life and the birth of a damned one
Chapter 1
It was the start of a new year and it seemed like any other long, annoying year full of people who lie, deceive and use others for their own gain. Those facts were the reason why Kasey didn’t want to go to school. She didn’t like dealing with all the gossiping, deception and sexual harassment, though no one ever “sexually harassed” her. She was what everyone called an “outcast”. She had long jet black hair, a very fair complexion, ice blue eyes and an attitude to match them. Her face was like a super model’s skinny and pretty and she was neither fat nor skinny. Her nails were usually painted black and wore baggy clothes to hide her figure so it was no surprise that no one talked to her; she wasn’t what the jocks called “pretty” out casted by even those who outcast themselves. She honestly didn’t care. She enjoyed the isolation the current society of young adults gave her; she could practically get away with whatever she wanted, not like she did anything that would cause her a lot of trouble. She walked among what she called the “herd of fake society” because the way she saw it was the only way I can get to my idiotic classes in this stupid hell they call a school. People ignored her existence about eighty percent of the time the other twenty percent was spent spreading rumors about how her being a witch or being some devil worshipper.
They all knew too little about her because they never wanted to be around her. Like some dormant instinct told them to avoid her like the plague. That was until a new girl moved to Kasey’s school. “Sorry I’m late this school is much bigger than my last” spoke the new girl to the teacher. The girl was short and skinny; her hair was short and as red as the flares off of the sun and eyes that were as brown as the earth. She wore a tight shirt that was pink with a small rabbit on the front and under the rabbit it said “Usagi” which meant rabbit in Japanese she also wore a pair of extremely tight jeans that were apparently custom made because she was small in height and waist size but she had an a** that wouldn’t fit other jeans with her height and waist size. The teacher pointed to a desk next to Kasey’s to tell her to sit down. Immediately Kasey groaned she didn’t want anyone by her especially this unknown girl whose name she didn’t even know. The unknown girl walked to her desk and held put her hand out and said, “Hi my name is Stephanie” she smiled. Kasey turned to her and glared “I don’t want any friends so don’t try.” Stephanie was a little bit in shock she had never been treated like this by anyone before not even by the nastiest of bullies.
Kasey turned away to a piece of paper on her desk. She looked at the blank paper and then started to draw a man she had seen in her dreams. He wasn’t human, he was a vampire and his name was Lucrid. He was a cold hearted hunter the biggest bad a** of them all or at least from all of the others she had seen. He had short black hair and eyes that burned red like fire except when he wanted to trick some human and when this happened his eyes were emerald . He was like a wolf homing in on a kill every time he hunted for prey. Other than this she knew absolutely nothing about him. “Who is that?” Stephanie asked. She seemed a bit nervous about looking at the drawing. Kasey quickly covered her drawing and then glared at Stephanie “This man is none of your business and neither are any of my drawings so back off!” she was pissed there was nothing to it. She liked to be left alone and this girl just wouldn’t leave her alone even after telling her subtly. So after the bell rang Kasey immediately gathered her stuff and left leaving the annoying “pest” behind. She looked around for any teachers by one of the many side exits. None were in sight so she left the school as means to escape the annoying pests. As she was walking from the large almost dilapidated school something caught her eye. Across the street under a large old oak tree was a man who looked like the vampire from her dreams. She watched him as he intently watched her. Kasey began to walk over to the street but soon a large truck drove in front of her view and as the truck got out of the way, the man was gone. She stood in surprise that the man was there one second and the next gone, as if he never existed. As she stood staring at the place where he once was slowly rain began to fall which snapped her out of her shocked state and she began on her walk home.
She was soaking wet when she got to her house. Her mother wasn’t there and wouldn’t be home till about nine at night, plus her mother didn’t care about her. Half the time her mother would run off with some man leaving her to clean and fend for herself. When Kasey needed any money her mother would tell her to get a job or steal it. If Kasey needed anything that’s what her “whore” of a mother would say. Kasey thought of how wonderful it would be when she could officially move out of the house. She would find someplace that was far away from people and in some nice secluded area. As she thought she began to walk to her room. It was dark except the light from a small lava lamp. She walked over to her bed and laid down upon it and closed her eyes, and then she drifted to the world within her mind.
