Arachnae read the missive once and then again. She understood the need for such games but had never had the patience for such games herself. Thus, hers was a minor house.
This Death goddess was new and could not be a "bright beacon of light that draws all eyes in the darkness" for death could never seek the good health of the living. Death and life would ever be enemies. She understood this even as she understood that life and death were a part of the same cycle of life. Still death always would seek life's end, seeing itself as the inevitability. Life would always see life. This often included life coming from death, life continuing because of death, or even death as another form of life but death would never be so generous in it's views of life. There was no life or goodness in her and could never be.
Having detained the kobold in order to reply she sent him back with this message:
"My Lord,
I think you see the problem for what it is. Life and death cannot/willnot peacefully co-exist. I was sent an undead messenger who delivered a message and warning to me. I think the author wanted my pledge of devotion to this New One. I told it I could not publicly commit to anyone or any diety. My private views are mine own. My apprehention grows with the undead's legions and her power.
Did you want the information about our sister city or not?
Arachnae"
