okay first, these are the main types of censorship..
There's moral, military, political, Religious, and corporate censorship.
there have been alot of books being banned recently so this topic is for you to post you views on anything being censored.
recent examples of this would be the books and movies in the harry potter, and chronicles of narnia series.
they r banned from some schools and other places because theres 'black magic' in harry potter, and there's christianity in the chronicles of narnia.

Well,
no1s posting so I'll start.
I think that censorship should be abolished,
not the things being censored.

I only think that anything that portrays hate messages, any racist ideas, or tries to make people, inflict harm on others or their property should be censored.

The world would be so much better if everyone was born with a strong sense of morals. User Image

I mostly agree with you. They shouldn't ban something just because it's even remotely related to religion. But (What? Did you think that I woudn't say but?) it would start a lot of controversy because of it. I've read all of the Narnia books and it's not religious in any way. It only has this one thing in it that's barely related to religion in it. But because of that, it would start a controversy with the people that don't want their kids exposed to another religion. Their would be petitions everywhere...

As far as people being born with a strong sense of morals.
Well, there will always be that one person out there that will think otherwise. Eventually, they will convince people to see their side of the story and we're back to square one.

Wow, I think that's the least I've ever written on a topic before.

I hate how adults get children to follow a religion at young ages,
there are alot more people who are atheists lately because more people don't.
The parents should introduce children to religion and science at the same time that way they can choose their religion - or decide that they won't follow one
rather than spreading their own biased opinions on them.
-like I'm doing now.

and yes thats probably the shortest post youve made User Image

Alphearia
Imagine going through time and making all this war and opposition disappear from the very beginning. I wonder how that would have affected the Earth today?

^actually that was.

Did you read all 7 Narnia books? The Magician's Nephew is a direct allegory to Biblical Creation. Although, the books were written to be viewed in several ways. So, it really is your choice how of how to see the Narnia series.

The real question is, 'Who has the power of cencorship?'
I believe the American government should not have the power to abolish ANYTHING. I definitely DO NOT endorse books with hateful or evil messages, but by American law, the people should have that choice. As for Schools censoring Harry Potter and Narnia, while I have read both series myself, I also know that schools have that power. I do not think they should censor them, for:
1. Harry Potter is not evil. I have read the books several times each and have read about the books. I am so incredibly tired of people hating them without even reading them.
A word of wisdom...In order to fight something, you must understand that thing. Understand why you are fighting it.
People often scorn Harry Potter for its use of magic, but don't scorn other novels with magic. That is called hipocrisy.
2. The Narnia books should definitely NOT be censored.
arrow If they are being censored based on their use of Christianity, that violates the First Amendment for freedom of religion.
arrow In reading the Narnia books, definite signs of Christianity are present, but they do not make the books what they are. The Narnia books are children's fantasy literature. Anything else is just extra. You don't need to believe in Christianity to enjoy Narnia.
Since public shools are government funded, they should not censor literature. If you are attending a private school and have a complaint, they have every right to censorship, so go somewhere else if you disagree.

I agree.
-I personally hate magic, (basically for the ability to do anything without working for it.)-

the only reason that there is censorship is because some self ritious idiot feels a little uncomfortable these type of people should just get over themselvs and realize that the world isn't all made of magic and talking animals but he'll never accept this little speach from me seeing as how they've banned the books ive just mentioned hahaha
in the mighty words of thousands of hungry, high, and underaged rockers out there STICK IT TO THE MAN!!!
