I think you know what I'm talking about sweatdrop Chivalry is going to be extinct at this rate. Just recently, I met a guy I finally trusted. He seemed so different from the rest, so nice and... chivalrous. Hah, how wrong of a perception that was. He came out near the top of a growing list of complete and total jerks.
So I ask, is there really a way to revive chivalry? Or is it destined to fade with the remaining few that know of it? Are women everywhere doomed to meet only cold and uncaring men, or worse yet, ones who fake gallantry and then attack when guards are lowered? Dramatic, yes. True? I hope not gonk

Unfortunately, many women of our society contribute to the disintegration. Men are definitely the core of the problem, but girls these days only too often behave in a manner, or encourage behavior, that guys are also too willing to respond to.
Also, no one is perfect. Even the most chivalrous person will make mistakes often enough. One must be sure to not mistake current behavior for normal behavior. I say this because I sometimes feel like certain people in my life have mistaken me for just another guy.

I agree that it's not just one side being the problem. If women want chivalry, then it's up to women to act in a respectable manner. And definitely, no one is perfect, so guys and girls both need to be cut some slack occasionally. Especially guys. As far as I know most aren't psychic blaugh so maybe if women said what they needed more often, instead of assuming or expecting the men to know, life would be easier for everyone.
I reread what I posted earlier, and I think I made it sound like I haven't known a single nice guy. That's not true, though. After all, one of my best friends is a guy, and he's one of the nicest people I've ever known. And all the guild members I've talked to have been very nice. I think a major problem that contributes to guys not caring about chivalry is that us girls never tell them we appreciate them! sweatdrop It's so easy to take someone for granted, especially if they are nice. I know I've done it before gonk And it's way too easy these days to write someone off before even giving them a chance.
Thank you for taking the time to reply to my topic. You made good points and made me rethink some of my own ideas. I hope the people lucky enough to have you in their lives value you, because to me you seem anything but "just another guy".
