Finally, they were home. Or at least their Giaian home. With a great sigh of serenity the happy-go-lucky crossdresser skipped down the path towards the park. Bijin had greatly enjoyed his trip to Japan with Kinnera, despite the midnight wanderings. He had gotten to see his friend grow and hoped he would get bigger soon as well. But today was a day to relax in familiar surroundings.
Once in the park he set up a small picnic with little japanese bento boxes. He had learned to carry more than one incase he met a new friend during his meal. His clothing wasn't as girly as he usuall was, wearing a simple yukata with geta adorning his socked feet. He wore a flower pin his hair which made him look slightly more feminine but it was pretty to him. He wondered what sort of new fables were around since his trip. He hoped they were nice people.

Aekepi was curled up on one of the park benches, catching a few Z's. His apartment had been closed off for a while so they could make repairs, and he was sleeping in the park for lack of a better place. He looked okay for once. Not as pale as he usually was, and his flame was burning brightly. Despite being nearly asleep, he did catch something out of the corner of his eye - another one he hadn't really spent time with. Bijin, if his memory served. He swung himself off the bench, and meandered over, plopping himself on the grass, and looking over at the boy.
"Hey.... Long time no see."

Bijin blinked as he heard a familiar voice. It was one he hadn't heard in a long time. He looked up to see the coyote fable plopping down next to him. "Ohayo Aeke-san! It is nice to see you after so long! You are looking well. Would you like a bento box?" The child fable offered his friend the little box of food with a smile, always wanting to help out his friends.
"It has been a long time since we have spoken. Of course I was out of the country with Kinara-sempai for a good deal of it. I took him to Japan with me so we could research our fables. Have you had any luck with yours?" He looked to his friend, still as youthful as he had ever been. Bijin didn't seem to age much either. He still acted much like a child.

Bento box? He'd bite. But at least it was food. He nodded, and eagerly took the lunch from Bijin's hands, opening it, and starting in on one of the entrees. He grinned over at the fox, and licked his lips.
"This is delicious! Thank you! You have no IDEA how hungry I was. This really hits the spot."
He ate some more, then paused for conversation. Yes, he WAS hungry... But not hungry enough to be impolite.
"I... err... don't know what you mean by 'fables', Bijin." Aekepi said, tilting his head to one side. "But did you have a good time in Japan?"
Truth being, Aekepi hadn't had the pleasure to know yet that he was a child of Hamlin - That would come later.

"I have more if you like. You look a little thin to me." He giggled a bit then blinked as Aekepi said he didn't know what it meant to be a fable. Wasn't he a fable? "A fable is the story we are born from. Like Kin-sempai. He comes from the fable of The Chinese Zodaic. That's why he hates the rat so much and has cat features. I'm from a Japanese fable, but I don't know what it is yet."
He smiled as Aeke asked about Japan. "I had lots of fun! Okaa-san and I bought Kin-sempai a kimono then we went to the Sakura Tree Festival. We also went to a night time festival with fireworks and a big dragon!" He took a few bites of food and a sip of tea. "Then we got to explore other smaller places. To make Kin-sempai feel better about being a cat, I took him to a famous temple where cats are considered friends of the gods. Many people give thanks and gifts to the cat for prosperity or peace. He seemed to enjoy that."

Aekepi couldn't remember ever being told that he was born from a story. It was a bit of a shock. Most of what Bijin said after that went right over his head. He stared slack-jawed at the fox, the rest of the sandwich still in his hand, incredulous. All of the things that Bijin had said about Japan flew in one ear and out the other. Aeka was still taking in the fact that he was... well... what most would define as not real. Or impossible to exist. His fathers had, at the very least, told him time and time again that fiction was just that. Fiction. Make-believe. Stories. Pretend. And he WAS one? Feeling a little lightheaded now, he turned toward Bijin.
"Not to interrupt or anything but... I'm a... story? A story? Words on paper, or words of mouth? Pretend? Not real? How!? Why?!"
