((Thanks, Kalis!))
Samirah glanced around her haven warily, not trusting the shadows-- for even the shadows could be spying on her. Ain didn't sense anything, and Sami knew she should trust her beloved cat on that much. However, at the same time... there had been too many strange dreams, too many inexplicable thoughts and visions running through her mind to not partake of the fruit of paranoia a bit.
Scribbling in her notebook, Sami's normally delicate, fine script quickly became tiny, barely legible letters in her haste to preserve her thoughts. "Ain, keep watch," she murmured to the cat for the fifth time in twenty minutes.
Perhaps it's wrong of me to keep things from Brendanus-- he is the Prince, after all, Samirah wrote, assailed by an image of the Magician card, torn in two and left out in the hard, unforgiving sun, but at the same time, I do not know if I have the strength-- or will-- to confront him with what I've lately learned. The visions come faster now, darker and filled with less hope and more disaster. The Tower is rising, rising far too quickly, and soon it will fall...
Blood tears rose in the Ravnos' eyes as she hastened to wipe them away-- it wouldn't do to let those drop on her book. It wouldn't do...

How long had passed? Sami couldn't be certain, didn't know what was happening to her. The cards frightened her, made her wonder what was going on... even Ain hissed the moment the deck slipped free of its worn leather case.
Shivering slightly, Samirah wondered why she felt as though there was a chill in the air, something that slipped past her clothes and skin to burrow deep into her veins and bones, freezing her from within. There was a time when she'd never felt better as a Kindred, when this cold, strange lifestyle had been more than enough for her. Yet at the same time... it seemed...
"Ain, wh--" Sami started before stopping and smiling slightly as Ain jumped into her arms. "...what's happening to me, my dear?" she asked softly, stroking her beloved cat. "Why is the Sight once gifted to me failing me?"
Mewling softly, Ain gazed up at Samirah with that single, vivid blue eye, almost explaining in the glance. "I know, Ain... I know," Sami sighed softly. "But at the same time... I can't help but wish... something would happen that I could predict, something would... be back to the way it was...."

It was getting worse. Sami knew she had to get out of her house soon-- else she'd go mad. Perhaps she'd already gone mad, and this was her punishment. To live in a city where insanity ran rampant...
"Ain," she called, pulling the hissing cat close, ignoring his swipes at her. "Ain, what's wrong with me?" she murmured gently, kissing the cat's blind eye. "Ain, nothing makes sense anymore... nothing..."
