Element: Rift - Very much related to space and gate magics, rift allows users to create small dimensional holes to other realms.
Bound Item: A metallic ring usually kept on his collar, engraved with runes and symbols. This is used as a control device for his rifts, capable of expanding to contain or close a portal made by him. Although it's not required for him to use his powers, it is very useful in creating a single, stable, portal that doesn't collapse before he wants it to.

Description: Kyle usually wears loose jeans, with many, many pockets in them, boots that go to his ankles, form fitting shirts, a collar, and flexible gloves that lack the portion covering the fingertips. He also has a black and gray backpack.
He is muscular, about 5'11, light brown skin, purple eyes, and long, black hair that hangs over his face a bit in strands and is put into a braid that goes to his waist. He has a confident attitude, and is friendly.

Personality: Carefree, silly, and usually happy and positive even in light of hardships, he is a rather nice person. Though he can get frustrated or surprised, he rarely gets into an angry mood or panics. He takes a relaxed attitude towards learning and practicing that tends to make one wonder how he could have progressed as far as he has in such a dangerous and precise type of magic with such a careless attitude towards using it, although once could guess it stems from his confidence in his own abilities.

History: Kyle was formerly a student of another rift user, he was taught how to use this magic as his mentor was still increasing their own knowledge. Though he had been progressing at a decent rate for a rift mage, his learning was interrupted as his mentor was accidentally sucked into an experimental portal that they had made, and was sent off to who knows where. Both of them had known the risks of using this sort of magic, and it hadn't been the first time this had happened. However, this time was different, as his mentor didn't come back that day. Or the next day.
After a few weeks of waiting, Kyle figured it was time to move on. Following his mentor's instructions in such a case, he gathered up charts and books that were willed to him and set off, sealing up his former residence with a spell his mentor could unlock. Though the place that the mentor was sucked into was very dangerous, or so they had claimed, he was sure that his mentor was able to exit the portal elsewhere in the world, rather than having been torn apart by the conditions of the realm. In the meantime, as he had neither the knowledge, power, nor want to open a portal to the same realm his master was pulled into in an attempt to go after him, he was forced to look elsewhere for magical training. His journey brought him to the tower, where he has continued his studies.
