Centuries ago, in the midevil times, several kingdoms decided to unite themselves so that they would never be at war, and their sacrifice, was their eldest daughters. Every kingdom sent their eldest daughter to another kingdom to marry that kingdom's eldest prince.
They allowed their eldest daughters too meet with eachother, and spend an entire summer together in preparation so that they could give each other advice and, well, prepare.
This, was where the kingdoms were stupid. Every princess agreed that they didn't want to marry one of the princes. So, they all made a plan, at the end of the summer they would request to spend the night on the mountainside, just them, to give offerings to their gods.
When that time came, they were ready. They packed enough food, all of their jewelry (they didn't want to be poor!), and weapons of all sorts, giving the excuse that 'you never know what could happen'.
So, as soon as they reached the mountain, they didn't stop. On their horses who they placed peasant sadles and bridles on, they continued a treck over the mountains, each sending back a letter, only to be opened by their fathers, that said they didn't want to have the arranged marriage, and that all of these princesses were on the run, and never intended to come back.
Obviously the kings were furious, and sent out their guards to find them! Everyone has been on the look out for these princesses, but no one can find them.
Will the princesses be caught and brought back home? Or will they remain free, maybe finding peasants or some other man of stature to marry, and never worry about arranged marriages again?
The setting is two days after the kings were sent word....go!
