Well it had seemed like a good day to the boys as they traveled together, though Inna had a bad habit of wanting to go look at just about everything, causing Page to chase after him. They had traveled far from home this day, and had planned on camping out that night somewhere on the plains. Though their trip was caught short as Inna caught sight of smoke in the distance.
"Page, look at that." Inna shouted pointing at the bellowing smoke that blackened the skies. "Think someone else is camping too?"
"I don't think that is a camp fire Inna." Page said with worry as he unfolded his wings and took to the skies.
He had been right, it wasn't a camp fire, it was worse, a wild fire. Swooping low he took hold of Inna by the waist and hoisted them back to the skies. It was there that Inna's eyes just about bulged out of their sockets and his jaw dropped at the sight of what was causing the fire.
"That's no camp fire Page, what is it?" he asked looking somewhat up at Page as he worked to keep them aloft.
"A wild fire." Page put simply. "Probably caused by lightening or something."
There was worry and dread within Page's voice as they went closer to the smoke choked space. Already Page was having a hard time breathing as the wind made the smoke blow toward them. Gliding toward the ground he let Inna drop harmlessly to the ground before he just about plowed into the parched ground himself. Wings folding back at rest he looked at teh blaze, this couldn't have been good.
"Inna, start clearing grass as fast as you can to expose the dirt." Page instructed as he too started pulling.
"Why? Will the dirt help?" he asked looking a little... Stupid.
Page didn't answer, but gave a stern glare that made the boy's skin prickle all over and he started helping, when a good patch was cleared, Page looked back at the fire and hoped that this was going to work.
"Now start throwing the dirt upon the fire. Hopefully with enough it will smother it." Page ordered as he too started digging at the ground with his hands and a rock, whatever he could find to break it up.

It appeared to be working as the fire shrunk back an inch or two, but it wasn't enough. Just plain dirt wasn't going to cut it. Something else had to be done, and fast. Still shoveling dirt in the direction of the fire, Page was still thinking, there had to be something else to add. Inna, working the best he could was already feeling the heat from the fire as his guardian was trying to shield him from the blaze itself. Pulling his water canteen from his pack, he emptied the water onto the dirt, it sank quickly into the parched land. It was an idea. mud. Though more had to be done or they would dig themselves a pretty good hole.
"Inna, I'm going after more water, try using this small amount of mud. It might work better then just dry dirt." Page instructed as his wings again unfolded themselves.
Nodding Inna set to work gathering what small amount of mud there was and tossed it toward the fire. He wished he had some sort of power, his element was water, but he was helpless against this blaze. Some protector he was. Sighing sadly to himself he tossed mud at the edges of the fire that licked at the parched grass.
Over head Page flew in a random direction away from the fire, a pail in his hands, one that he had brought a long for the purpose of putting out their camp fire at night. Dipping low he kept an eye out for a water source and hoped that he could get back before the fire spread any more then it had. Truly, Page was thinking that he had gone the wrong direction of water...

The fire hissed and retreated again as little Inna threw mud at it, coating anything that got into its way, he only wished that there was more and a way for him to stop the fire himself, without Page's help. Wiping a muddy hand over his forehead, a smear of mud spreading across it in the process he looked at the fire, hopeless.
"I wish Page would hurry, I'm running out of mud." Inna said tiredly as his arms felt like noodles.
"Until Page does return, lets keep trying to put out this fire." Tsunami advised, "It will gather more ground if we don't."
Inna knew she was right and busied himself with throwing more dirt at the fire, already the hole was growing bigger. Stopping again he busied himself with clearing more grass to get a more dirt. After this he would more then likely welcome a bath. He would need one, badly.
-----------------
Else where Page had found a slow river and had dipped the pail into it and rose back toward the skies. He could barely make out where he had come from, there had to be a closer water source then this. Looking at the river it sloped away from the blaze in both directions... How convenient, he thought as things seemed to be against them. Turning back toward the fire he set at a fast glide minding to not spill the water he had gathered.
"Hold on I'm coming." He muttered to himself as he went.
"Page, that mouse is of the water element, why doesn't he just summon water or something?" Cosmic asked as he hovered over Page's shoulder.
"He's a kid, I couldn't even summon a gust of wind when I was his age and I'm of the air element." Page pointed out as he went lower .
Coming back to where Inna stooped still throwing dirt at the flames, the ground already was started to look like one large sand pit. Hovering a moment he soon dumped the pail of water on the flames at the edge, trying to create a small barrier. before heading off to get another pail of water, deep down wishing that there was a closer place...
