It's scary how kids start to recognize brands at earlier and earlier age. Like McDonald's fries taste better from a McDonald's packing than from a packing of compiting brand or a blank packing. This is really scary. Why? Because the images created on an early age affect our choises as we grow up. Well that's enough about that. I'll go into my favourite restaurant to boycott. McDonald's. Why do I boycott McDonald's? Well: - The meat they use (especially in US) is grown at a field that used to be a rainforest. They just cut it down and destroyed a part of eaths lungs. Who knows what endangered species their actions are destroying. - They tell you that they recycle but the McD's isn't really as green as they say. - In Europe alone they use half a million chickens every week, all from windowless factory farms. - As the world's largest user of beef they are responsible for the slaughter of hundreds of thousands of cows per year. - They target their marketing to little children. Their tactics include Ronald McDonald, the happy clown, a friend of all children. They "sponsor" school events and learning programs = stamp their ads all over the material.
I'll continue this when I get back.

- Think about the ecological footprint of all that factory farming. The pesticides, artificial fertilizers etc... It's HUGE! Then you have to transport all the meat, vegetables and everything else around the country to the restaurants. Just think about the exhaust fumes and what it does to the ozone layer. - McDonald's worldwide employs over one and a half million workers, over half of them under 21yrs old. - They pay the minimun wage, the working conditions are just, well sh*tty. Usually you have no right to belong to an union of any kind. - The nutrition facts McD's gives are a lie. The amount of fat, especially saturated fat are shown smaller on the sheets you get with your tray, than what they are when the food is actually tested in laboratories. Real laboratories, not the ones who get payed bu McD's to show certain facts. - We all know that the crap they serve is linked to serious illnesses like diabetes, obisity, cancer and heart diseases.
After all this information, do you really want that Big Mac, and do you want fries with that? For more information check McSpotlight!

I have to agree with you on that one. McDonalds is leaving a serious mark on our environment. But I boycott McDonalds for a different reason. I boycott them because they're lying bastards.
About two years ago McDonalds released a statement saying that they didn't have any glucose in their fries and milkshakes, this was a lie. And I happen to have a friend who is very allergic to glucose, and she had been considering eating at McDonalds because they didn't have any gluose in their fries. If she had eaten their products she could have gotten really sick.
Not to mention that their boss is blaming video games for the obesity of children today. At least -some- video games are trying to include actives into their products. (Nintendo's Wii, Dance Dance Revolution, ect.) While McDonalds is doing what? Telling kids through -television ads- that they should get active and eat and mcdonalds. They could at least offer some healthy options. Sure they have the apple slices, covered in caramel. And the salad, with the salad dressing that has more calories than a big mac.
Uh.. yeah. That's my opinion :3

And if you go to your local McD's and ask them about those things, they're going to lie. Kind of understandable because they have so much dirt on their reputation and blood on their hands but TOTALLY not acceptable!

He destroyed my life...
I worked in McDonalds for two days. Then I quit. >_< You're right with what you say. I am in England, and they are still bad. Now I will destroy him.

See, and every fast food restaurant will slaughter animals, so that really isn't a point...
BUT the way that they treat the animals is an issue that needs to be addresed. If you live in CA, AZ, or NV, there is a fast food chain called In-N-Out that is as green as a fast food restaurant can get. They raise their cows very well and slaughter them humanely. ALL of the food that they serve there is fresh, never frozen.

I agree with everything you say, but would like to point out something in their defense (what little they've got)
Recently, they've really started pushing health.
Every commercial they show with the clown shows him running around, playing with kids. Sports, bike riding, etc. The clown's been really active. And the shows the clown's not in has shown kids active too. The girl on the bicycle, for example, who stopped for a "pit stop" at McDonalds after going nuts.
And in the commercials, they don't show soft drinks or junk food. They show the kids eating the white meat chicken, the white milk (not sugary chocolate gunk), and the apple dippers. If the parents don't get their kids the healthy options, it's their fault The parents can say no.
I know it's not much, and while I don't support everything McDonald's does, I do give them credit for the above changes.
