((Ok, since no one's posted in such a long time, I'm skipping forward a bit, to the current date (May 5th, two months and a day after Koto's pups were born. SInce Nirrae hasn't been here to birth her pups, I'll be taking their characters until she comes back. Okami, you can take control of Kuro whenever you want. As for Sadie, I'll say Eclipse is looking for her.))

The pups were just over two months old. They were almost weaned, already eating solid food, and allowed to roam the territory. They had grown so much already (although Noko was still a runt, the smallest out of all six pups born to the pack,) and their bodies were taking on a lanky, clumsy shape rather than the round puppy-shape they had been when they were first born. Koto was laying, nearly asleep, next to her mate inside the Green Cave, watching Nirrae's pups tumble and play in the soft grass inside the cave. "I really hope they're all right...Nirrae, and Reko." She mumbled. Shortly after the beta's pups were born, the two betas had disappeared, and Koto had to step in to take care of their pups as well now, suckling six pups instead of three on her small body.

"Hey, Kuro," Noko said softly, looking over the edge of the cliff near the rock face. There was a strange bridge made from stringy wood and chopped trees swinging across the ditch. It didn't look stable. "What do you suppose is across this thing?"

Kuro stepped up, bounding forward towards the rope-bridge at full speed. "I dunno, but I guess we'll find out!" He growled playfully.

Aihi followed him obediently, always wanting in on the fun. Her tail wagged as she ran, her tongue lolling out of her silver muzzle.

"Wait!" Noko barked nervously, staying back. The other two halted and turned to look at her. "It looks dangerous...I mean, I said I was curious, but...it looks human-made." Immediately the other two understood; they had been taught of the dangers of humans. Ever since an early age, when their ears first opened, their parents had been warning them against humans, making sure they knew that humans were terrible, cruel creatures. They had been taught well.

"We'll wait for the others, then." Kuro announced, nodding. He was referring to Nirrae's pups, but they were still at the den and had been eating. They had said they would catch up with them later.

Noko thought for a moment. "Well...indeed, then if one of us got hurt, there'd be more of us to go send for help..." She whined.

"Always thinking," Piped up Aihi, giving a barking laugh. "It's just fun with more of us."

Noko sighed. "Well, you're right, it would be fun, maybe..." She returned her crystal blue eyes to the canyon in front of her. She looked over the mountains and gave a clear, bell-like howl to the skies. The other two joined in, and after a moment, Kuro turned and led his sisters into the forest. Noko tripped over her gangly legs, always the clumsy one, and hurried after her siblings, giving one last glance to the mysterious realm beyond the bridge. She knew it was past their territory's lines. She could smell her father's scent marks there. And yet, like all pups, she was curious.

Eclipse snuffled along curiously by the river. He barked, then barked again, calling for his friend. He hadn't seen Sadie in a few days, and he was starting to miss her. Truth be told, he liked her a lot, and though he'd grown into quite a strong wolf, he lacked the slight bit of confidence to come out and tell her. He now let out a low howl, calling for her again. Where had she gone off to?

Koto was sleeping the summer heat away. To be fair, it really wasn't all that hot out, but she was not used to the temperatures of summer quite yet. Like most wolves, she preferred the cold. In her sleep, she rolled onto her back next to her mate; she was dreaming again, wondering subconsciously where the pups were playing together now.

Eclipse had been sent to watch over his "siblings" for the evening, and he was laying with Sadie in the shade of the forest, his tongue lolling out the side of his mouth as he watched the pups splash in the river. All six of them seemed to be having fun together, and he almost felt like joining in, yet Sadie seemed to be sleeping and he did not want to leave her side. If he was going to play, he wanted it to be with her.

Noko snapped at a minnow swimming quickly by, her gangly legs slipping and sliding clumsily in the shallow waters. The pups had grown considerably once again, and with summer ahead of them, they still had more growing to do. After a moment she lifted her head above the water again to catch her breath, and then she rolled onto her back in the water with her nose pointed to the sky. This time, she did not chase the fish, she watched them. They were quite interesting, really. They were small but swift, she observed, noticing that all creatures had advantages and disadvantages.

Aihi and Kuro were tumbling together with Feros, Razjah, and Kaltech. Kuro glanced over at his sister Noko for a moment, and he rolled his eyes. She was thinking again, wasn't she? Really, that curious young pup over there should act more like a pup, he thought. He wanted to call her over but he decided against it. With a growl, he bit Razjah's ear and tugged gently. He needed to win this tumble; best to start with the Alpha pup of the pack's Beta leader. "I'll get you all." He growled playfully.

Kaltech tumbled over his sister's back and caught Aihi's tail gently in his teeth. "Hey, what about Noko?" He barked. Aihi just shrugged and pounced Kaltech. He and her seemed to get along quite well; she supposed it was because they were both at the bottom of their litters.

Sadie may have appeared to be sleeping, but she was just resting her eyes. Her ears were still pointed in the direction of the pups. She listened to the splash around, yipping and growling playfully. It sounded fun. She cracked open an eye to glance over to Eclipse and smiled a bit. As the months passed she had noticed that the awkward young wolf she had met had grown into a fine wolf. She gazed at him a little while longer before stirring and raised her head with a yawn. "How are we doing?" she asked as she looked over to the pups.

Eclipse nipped Sadie lightly in the ear. "You're up then?" He asked casually, grinning at her before returning his eyes to the pups; as much as he wanted to fool around, he couldn't let the pups out of his sight for too long. His job was to watch them and keep them safe. And he would take his job seriously. He watched the tumbling pups for another moment in silence before speaking again. "You wanna join in?" He asked, his question directed at Sadie.

Sadie looked at the pups and back to Eclipse. "Sure," She said jumping up quickly with a playful bark.

With a quick movement and a bark in response to Sadie's, Eclipse leapt off his feet. His tail began fanning the air fast enough to blow leaves around in the underbrush. The young wolf skittered after his friend towards the river, chasing her as they joined the pups. He tumbled into the pile of puppies with a skidding halt in the water; they did not seem to mind, and took his mistake (Eclipse had tried to make it seem on-purpose to avoid embarrassment) as an invitation to play. Even Noko joined in now, abandoning her deep trance of thoughts for once. She leapt up and tugged her "brother" Eclipse's tail before letting go and skittering around the group flittingly.

Sadie laughed as they splashed around in the water. Dancing around the pups she gently yet playfully tugged Eclipses ear as Noko grabbed his tail. She jump away and gave a playful yip again, rear end high in the air with her tail wagging.

Careful not to trod on any of the pups that constantly tumbled underfoot, Eclipse turned and jumped towards Sadie, noticing that she looked quite cute in her playful position. With a bound and a leap, he pounced on her back, splashing her into the river easily by sheer weight difference. Grabbing her tail in his jaws, he growled playfully: "'M bigger 'dan you."
