I wouldn't doubt the Neon. While they might not have as much aftermarket support as a Civic, they can be built to be just as fast biggrin

Mh. I really like older cars, but the Neon is something I would never want to buy old, even with low mileage. I've seen so many of those things break down, it makes me curious... although I hear electrical problems are the the biggest complaint. If you've gotta have a Neon, the one you have is probably the best.

I don't think I'd want to race in a Neon, personally (not a big fan of them, nor the SRT-4). It's a good little car with decent fuel efficiency, comfort, and handling, though. :3 Is it easy to work on, by chance?

I feel kind of out of place among the overwhelming amount of imports here. Oh well.
2003 Mach1 Mustang
For those of you that don't know, yes, they did make MACh1's in 2003, and 2004 as a special model, as a tribute to those of the 60's and 70's.
The engine is a Modular 281 Cubic Inch four valve aluminum V8. It was rated at 305 hp/ 320 lb/ft. of torque at the flywheel, although DYNO tests reveal that it is under rated, and on average makes around 270 hp, 290 lb/ft at the wheels. (Mind you wheel horsepower is always lower due to the parasitic loss of the rotating assembly inbetween) You generaly lose around 15% of power from the flywheel to the drive wheels, while as these numbers are closer to a 10% loss, wich makes quite a bit of difference, and theirfor is under rated.
The engine is simmilar to that of the 2003/04 Mustang Cobra's Supercharged Modular 281 Ci four valve cast iron V8, and because they were made in the same year, they are always compared. However it's actually closer related to that of the 1998 Cobra engine, with the aluminum block and pistons, while as the 03/04 Cobra have cast Iron components.
What this means is a lighter engine weight, but Aluminum has a much lower point of temperature that it begins to warp, and can't handle the same amount of power as the Cobra's Cast Iron block.
The MACh1 is like a step up from the GT, bridging the gap between the GT, and Cobra. They only produced around 16,000 of them in the two years that they were made. But MANY more in the sixties and seventies.

Some specs about my personal MACh1:
Color and Options: Dark shadow grey, Interior Upgrade including Retro Comfort weave seats, 6 disk CD changer, 6 way electric adjustable drivers side seat, 4 way manual adjustable passenger seat. Miscilanious brushed aluminum interior dress components; all added aftermarket. (sterio face plate, A/C Face plate and knobs, cruise controll plates, etc...)
Exterior visual modifications: Vynil striping kit (although they come stock with a hood stripe, I have added to that), Brushed Aluminum upper and lower grill component insert, blacked out tail lights, chrome gas door, American Eagle 5 Spoke stars, Hood pin kit. The shaker system is stock from factory, but looks bitchin' and had to be mentioned.
Modifications: CAI, Bassani longtube headers to O/R X pipe, 3.73 gear, 10.5 in' Mickey Thomson street E.T.'s on the back, steeda tri-axe shifter with B&M T-handle knob, diablo sport tune.
Numbers: 12.5 in the quarter at 109 mph on conservative tune, and pump gas.
Total money invested: $19,200. (Car itself $18,000)
Current DYNO numbers: Unknown

Seems odd, but there's no discrimination here, it's just that most of us can only afford something cheap. And an import/compact has that over the muscle.

Your car is awesome, sweet, badass, beastly, ect. biggrin

It's cool man, I know the feeling. I don't understand the bickering that goes on and on between the import and the muscle guys. I've owned both, and worked on both. Either can be made fast, some just come out faster than others, but that's true with any car. Like an Evo is faster than a GT Mustang. I must say though, I am jealous of the huge aftermarket that comes with an import though. Although it's alot easier to find parts for my mustang than previous cars. (I.E. Nova, Chevelle, Camaro, acouple others.) Only other car that I have owned that had a decent after market was a 300ZX. Loved that little car to, shame it got wrecked. (atleast it wasn't my fault though)

here's my junior dragster. the E.T. is usually about 8.90 in the 1/8 of a mile. the mph is about 72 or so. the paint job was done by my dad and my brother, who've never had a bunch of experience with painting. my brother masked off the flames on the nose. i got the wheels and chassis powdercoated purple. aint it pretty? whee User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings.
