I'm just curious, since so many members don't post here. What was it about John Cena that caught your attention, and made you a fan of his?
For me, it has to be that first night on SmackDown, June 27, 2002, when he made his televised debut against Kurt Angle. I could tell from that very first night, despite the fact that he lost, that he was very good, and that he would be a mega-star in the WWE given time. And look at him now: he's a three-time, current WWE Champion.
Let's see what some of you guys' answers are. smile

I never watched a match of his until I watched one show of RAW, and what a coincidence, he just came there. whee Awesomeeeeeee. Chain Gang Is The Click!

I got to see him tag with my cousin, Rodney once, and I remember seeing him before but, my cousin said. "Keep an eye on this guy. He's good people. And good things happen to good people." After meeting him once when I was younger, I agreed. Ever since then I have been a fan of his.

Well, I stopped watching wrestling at one point then one night I was over at a friend's house and she was watching a match with Cena and then I started watching wrestling again and thought Cena was pretty good especially when he did the FU, then I realized how good looking he was too. So, ya that's how I got to love him. Chain Gang For Life!

This is my thread xD
Ok. So first off, I used to hate John Cena...I was one of the ones that was all "LOLZ HE'S A 5 MOVE MONKEE. GURR HE SUXXX. GO HHH N KINNEDEE"
Then, I went to Royal Rumble 2007...My God, was that a mindshattering night. In his match with Umaga I went from despising the man to being his biggest fan. Cena really knows how to put on a show. Immediately after the Royal Rumble I skipped an essay and watched Cena promos and matches and realized that he was pretty damn good.
Cena/Umaga is my favorite match of all time. Better than Joe/Punk, better than anything else the WWE has put on. It was reeally good in my eyes. I can still watch it on Youtube...
Lately, I've noticed a steady decline in WWE programming. Ever since Cena went down, it sucks. Most of us watch just for Jericho and he isn't even advertised for showing up...
In short, Cena/Umaga changed my mind. Cena is a damned good worker and deserves all the awards he gets.

That's wonderful. I think in a way, no matter how many fans hate him, he did keep RAW entertaining, and they did need him.
Thanks for posting. biggrin

Okay, I watched Johns debute match a few minuits ago. It had been a while since I sat and really watched it purely as a wrestling fan. And for those that doubt his ability or just don't like him but, claim that as an excuse. I really don't understand that. Watching that match again, now that I'm alot older and now that I have been to so many shows, watched so many on t.v and even briefly stepped into the ring myself, I can honestly say that that night. I think we all saw something very special in him. I mean to involve the crowd like that. He wasn't shaky on the mic and he just had a great presence. He was and still is a natural born performer. And I don't care what anyone says. He is very talented. Why all of that talent hasn't been used since he really blew up is beyond me. But the fact is, in that match on that night in Chicago, John held his own against Kurt Angle in so many ways, including as a wrestler. And wether each individual person who reads this is ready to admit it, this industry really needs him and without him there is a void there. So, anyways. For anyone who hasn't seen it. Please take a look at it, not as a hater, not as a Cena fan, but, just as a wrestling fan. I watched it on DVD but, I found a link online for you guys to check it out right here and right now.
