Bestmom Birdsong Bestmom ananda082001 I think I'm done with Blackjack for the night. Is anyone going to come back to the room before I go? naw I think it would be the death of my computer if i did ninja LOL same goes for mine! I think it must be something on Gaia's end don't you? yea I think so the fishing was freezing on me the other day and the word bump game likes to freeze too sweatdrop I might try fishing, later. Maybe that would be a little less frustrating if it froze. I'll put out "no freeze vibes" for the next time.. and see if that helps all of us.

Hubby was taking me to work this morning and we got stuck in a horrible traffic jam. The type where it takes you two hours to go three miles. We started to notice a funny smell, and then we saw smoke coming from the hood of our car. We pulled over and hubby popped the hood. The smoke was coming from the Coolant tank. It was smoking and bubbling and hissing. Hubby wasn't thinking and tried to take the cap off of the tank. Because of the pressure from the heat, it ended up basically exploding in his face. Luckily, he was wearing his glasses, so it didn't get in his eyes and the spray that hit his face wasn't very hot, so his face didn't get burned. But, his right hand and arm got burned really badly. 2nd degree burns on half of his hand and about a third of the way to his elbow. It blistered really badly. Due to the traffic and the car continually overheating, it took us almost three hours to get to a doctor's office. Then two more to get seen. The doctor gave him a tetanus shot, put Silvadeen (SP?) cream on the burns and wrapped up his arm. The doctor told him he needed to go back tomorrow to see how bad the burns were (Apparently it takes about 24 hours to be able to tell for sure) and that he'd be out of work for a minimum of two days, possibly up to a week. Where hubby works is really dusty and dirty and the doctor said burns get infected really easily. Hubby's not in a lot of pain, so that's good. Now I'm mostly concerned about how the finances will go if he's out for a whole week. confused

It may be possible for him to take paid leave. When I worked there I always chose option 3 on my vacation options.. so I could get extra sick and personal days.

He'll have to ask about if he can get any paid leave. Even a couple of days would help.

I take it your hubby has been fit as a fiddle so he hasn't had to use any sick days for y'all to fin dout about the plan smile I'm in TX but I think UPS should be the same everywhere... Sick days acrue starting fresh every year.. and generally employees get like 1-5 (i forgot how much exactly) hour sick option for every 30 hours worked.. something like that.. and he has been there 2 years so he should have a personal day or two as well ( I worked at the DFW hub out on the ramp with the airplanes for 5 years) If he hasn't taken any sick or personal leave at all in that 2 years I'm sure he has something. Best to call his part time supe. If he/she doesn't know the HR will for sure. If he's a teamster he can call them to find out also. Ummm another thing he needs to do for sure .. if he hasn't already ..is sign up at UPSers thats's a way employees can check sign up for 401 k plans (availiable after your first year).. and check up on many other thigns. i think there's a place there to check out what sick leave is available also. Ask the supes how to get set up on the site!
