"Well sonna-" Lee started, then bit the inside of his cheek, cutting off the curse before it formed. Yeah, probably not the best idea in the world to go teaching Mastema's kids how to swear up a storm before he's even learned some rudimentary shielding skills...that would suck. Picking himself off the ground, using the shattered rubble he had been using as a back rest as a means to support his weakened body, Lee stubbornly refused to meet what ever caused such an ruckus while he was sitting on his tush - and why yes he did just refer to his a** as a tush.
"Soooo." He let the 'O' linger long and fade away softly, "Any idea what's playin' the thrum-a-dumb-dumb?" Lee asked, all ready knowing Micha wasn't going to answer so instead directed his question to the two more vocal siblings. Honestly he couldn't figure it for anything dangerous, after all Than was less likely to leave his kid brothers and sister with a strange, unknown, dangerous monster than he was with...leaving them with Tegral. Hum...well if Lee thought on it hard enough one could argue that he was still Tegral, despite his own proclamation that he no longer retained any accurate or immediate recollection of said memories, and that Than had indeed left his darling little siblings with Tegral. But that wasn't the case, no, of course not, he was Lee now! He was a content woodsman who only wanted to stake out a living growing crops! He was tired, beyond tired in fact, of fighting, so much so in fact that he was seriously considering taking one last trip to the underground bunker that Tegral had constructed and deleting any memory of how to fight from his active memory.
Well anywhores! Lee scooped up his broad point leaf spear, using it as a crutch and when he finally levered himself to a standing position leveled it down so it's edged point was hovering a half inch from the ground while the rest of it's long wooden shaft was laying against the length of his arm, shoulder, and back. His neck cracked as he turned and looked at Proto, the brow of his left eye arching up in question: The ******** is that and should we move the kids?

Micha:| . . .
*Lee was correct in guaging that Micha would tell him nothing. Instead the boy would choose to ignore him when Lee finally stood again. There was apparently nothing of interest about Lee to keep his attention. Micha would be a tuff nut to crack. Once the question was answered though, Eecheb and Trilla would respond. They were getting a littler better at interacting with strangers. It probably helped that Proto was there, so they'd have to have felt more comfortable that way. As the others spoke, Micha would begin to wander off in some distant direction without a word or a sound. Perhaps he liked being mysterious, but since he never spoke there was really few ways to tell*
Eecheb:| It's an eyeball! Trilla:| Yah! ......It is! ......It's big.
*Though the children didn't know what a 'thrum-a-dumb-dumb' was, there was only one thing Lee could have meant. Still-- an 'eye' was making all that noise? Lee had to pray not to meet that thing in a dark alley somewhere. Lee would notice however that as Micha retreated (should he have noticed Micha leaving at all) that the sound would slowly disappear off in the same direction as the boy. The 'danger' was apparently gone now*
Trilla:| H-hnn~
*Once Lee was back up on his feet, he might note two fewer children in his sight. Micha had already turned and left Lee in the rubble, but now Trilla was missing as well..... kinda. Lee was still scruffy looking, and kind of looked scarry in his current garb. Lee also had something painfull looking in his hand, and Trilla didn't like that either. The girl would be spotted eventually, she was hiding behind Proto and her cheeks were puffed out like a child who was getting ready to hold their breath until they passed out. Sure, Lee had a pretty flower in his bag but-- Trilla was still apprehensive about him. Only a sliver of the child's eye would be visible behind Proto's leg, and maybe a curl or two of hair, but little else*
Eecheb:| >__> | ? Trilla:| e___e;;
*Eecheb wasn't 'scared' of Lee, he had to be the big brother in Thanatos' place when he was gone. Still though, he was slightly confused as to why Trilla was hiding behind Proto. Lee wasn't that scary really. I mean-- he had a stick! A pointy stick!! Sticks were cool. Actually the more he thought about it, the more Eecheb wanted a pointy stick too. Did they have pointy sticks in the Citadel? Eecheb would have to investigate. The children awaited Lee's next movements*

"An eyeball, huh?" Lee mused out loud. How indeed would an eyeball go about making any sort of noise? Maybe it was some kinda magic resonance or something? Hell he didn't know, he knew if a lot of energy was passed through a single point it had a tendency to 'hum'...what ever, probably one of Mastema's little pet things waiting to destroy the world. "Well anyways! I suppose it's about time to find your folks then, would hate to be late on my first day of school." Laughing to himself Lee flipped the spear end over end, twirling it with the familiarity of someone who handled the tool day after day for long periods of time, until it came to a gentle rest on his shoulder with the leaf blade pointing harmlessly into the air.
He didn't really need a guide, after all all he had to do was just walk towards the big pointy tower in the center and wham! No doubt Mas was up there on some kinda throne made of human bones or something surveying his domain...or something. Aw, hell, he didn't really care so long as Nana would teach him what he wanted to know. Whistling a little tune to himself he started towards the Keep, not quite sure if he should have the kids tag along or not. Well it wasn't as though they were in any sort of danger, if they were no doubt the Citadel's AI system would be on constant alert and Mastema's combat droids would be available at a moment's notice. Huh...funny Lee seemed to remember those things, little humanoid androids that stood as tall as a man versus an equal number of T-2 combat mechanoids. Yeah that s**t was funny still. Laughing in tune to his whistling he'd proceed to the Keep unless something else stopped in en route.

There was absolutely nothing here that surprised Proto. At all. The expressionless automaton could've been misinterpreted as bored if one forgot for a moment he probably didn't grasp the concept of boredom. Unknown as it was, the now designated 'Eyeball' creature didn't trigger any special response from Proto. He was equipped to obliterate or deter it if necessary. Micha had wandered off to do whatever he wished. However, this too did nothing to alert Proto; Thanatos's activities were even further shrouded in secrecy than Micha's, so it didn't occur to him to retrieve the boy. Still, it was Proto's job to keep an eye on Lee for now, and when Lee began to move, Proto did as well.
Proto briefly leaned to his side, prodding Trilla's puffed cheek with its finger softly, perhaps to get her attention, before he started walking. Raising its arm, Proto also waved a few times, indicating Eecheb to follow as well. Nana would probably be in a better mood either way if her kids were around, so Proto was seemingly doing Lee an unintended favor by having them follow. In the far distance, Proto could also sense the energy left by Than's travel and the energy he was exerting where ever he'd gone to. The tiniest of tremors in the ground only displayed briefly in Proto's sensors.
By now, Nana's tryst would be over and she was probably already nearing the bottom of the tower to greet her visitor. Mastema himself had already disappeared to some undisclosed location.

Trilla: Huh? Hnn~
*With Proto on the move, Trilla's cover was blown. The child had to quickly decide whether or not to continue clinging to the bot or hide behind her brother. Eecheb didn't have have anything else to do, so he'd go along. He was mildly interested in the stranger anyways. After Eecheb had passed, Trilla started using him as a makeshift wall, clinging behind his back*
Eecheb: Hmm? Okay. .....Hi?
Trilla: .____.
*The tremors would go largely unnoticed by the children, unless they became larger. If the tremors started affecting other objects around them however, they would certainly take more note of them. Meanwhile, Nana would be playing with her hair as she scaled down the tower. She didn't want it too out of place; not that her flushed cheeks would tell you what'd she'd been doing minutes before anyways*
Huu... heart
*Lee had not been given a "yes" or "no" answer as to wether or not he'd actually get to learn anything from Nana. He was taking a chance though, and that's what mattered. It was still going to take a few minutes for Lee, Proto and the children to arrive at the tower, so Nana would lighty slap her cheeks and ready herself for the man's arrival. His words would of course determine her answer*

Lee walked in silence for the most part, save the faint crunch of rubble under his leather boots. He was coming to find he enjoyed long, silent, treks...picking a direction and just disappearing for a month or so, no worries except his food and shelter and even those were minimal. They, those long walks, gave him plenty of chances to think long and hard on various subjects rattling around his skull. Today's topic, of course, his up coming meeting with Nana. A block away from the tower itself Lee slowed to a halt, shifting the loaded down rucksack off his shoulders. Letting it slide off his arms and onto the ground, laying his spear beside it. He unstrapped the heavy fur cloak he was currently wearing, rolling it around his arm and laying it atop the spear's point. Next to follow was the hatchet he wore secured to his hip, as well as the boot knife tucked against the calf of his right leg. Really there wasn't a whole big reason for this, he was after all in Mastema's domain here, but still...after how many years Tegral and KB had been gunning - quite literally in most cases - to kill Nana and her children? Better to leave anything pointy behind. On that note he removed the belt containing his herbs and various bits of survival gear.
Well there wasn't much he could do about his scruffy beard, personally he kinda liked it after the overly formal naval doctrine he'd been a part of for so long, and despite the fact his clothing were obviously well traveled in they were well cared for. He himself was clean, if a little dusty from plopping himself on the ground and hiking through the forest for the past two months. Given the circumstances he was about as presentable as he was gonna get, he turned and glanced back at his little paddy-wagon of followers. He seriously doubted the machine would let the kids go poking through his stuff, obviously since some of the mixtures in the tinctures could be poisonous if mishandled, not to mention the spear, knife, and axe, but still. Stuffing the bulk of his gear in a small crevice he nudged a rather impressive hunk of rubble in front of it, doubting either child had the physical strength to move the slab of rock. "There." He intoned to himself, dusting his hands against themselves before resuming the final stretch of the journey to the tower.

*Trilla would remain behind Eecheb still hiding from the scruffy looking Lee, while Eecheb would watch Lee strip his mantel and weapons. The rock slab would be a challenge to Trilla yes, but Eecheb was another story. He'd be able to move that slab and get to Lee's things.... not that Proto was likely to let him. If he was able too though, that spear would be held over his head in victory along with a shout of glory. The boy's tail would sway back and forth in thought, marking down where this-- stuff was. Then again, Micha had poked through it already, and did he really want to go near that? ...maybe not*
Eecheb: ...? | What's he doing?
*Eecheb didn't quite understand why Lee was stripping down. He didn't see the rhyme or reason to it; just why was Lee doing that? Now he looked a lot scrawnier. Sure he still had big muscles and all, but without the big mantel he just looked... different. Yes... Lee's feel, was different. Not as menacing or scary, not that you'd know looking at Trilla. As the group began to near the tower's base, Eecheb would take off like a shot, zipping past Proto, leaving Trilla and Lee in the dust, and zooming up the stairs and past the doors into-- dirt? The boy at one point or another had brought small piles of the stuff up near the doors. The reasoning behind this was unknown, but it had to make sense in his mind at least*
Trilla: | . . .
Eecheb: FIRST!!
*The boy had made a race of it, without bothering to tell anyone else. This way he was the only winner; and now he was also dirty. Just like a boy to be covered in dirt at his age. If not for the 'abnormalities' of wings and other non-human appendages, you'd never look at the children twice as being anything other than just that; children*

Lee smirked at the young boy's antics, wondering at how in the nine bloody hells someone could actually be this carefree in the Black Company. Then he glanced up at the hundred story tower and saw the blurry shift of the Citadel's barrier and rolled his eyes. Yeah, that's how innocent could be protected, trap it in a bubble and surround said bubble with as many guns and bombs as humanly possible without blowing up the planet. Shaking his head he closed his eyes and stopped in front of the tower's door. Maybe one day he'd have a kid of his own, teach them to live from the forests like he was doing now, maybe he'd let them grow up like Nana was letting her children.
Maybe.
"Right." He mumbled to himself as he opened his eyes folding his arms across his chest, leaning his shoulder against the corner of a nearby building, the chrome material covering the vast expanse of the city encompassing Mastema's domain bleeding a chill through the long sleeve of his tunic. He still wasn't entirely sure how he was going to go about to learn the lesson he had set himself up to learn. Sighing he scratched at the beard on his cheek, not for the first time wondering if he should have shaved before showing up.
"All right Mr. First Place!" He called over to Eecheb as he finally shook himself out of his inner monologue and crossed the last block seperating him from the tower, "You wanna go do me a favor? I need to talk to your mother, can you take your sister and go find Nana for me?" He would have asked Trilla if only so she had an excuse to flee big scary mountain man that was Lee, but she'd probably go into shock if he looked at her too long, let alone try to talk to her. Eecheb was at least semi-interested in him and could potentially be useful in tracking down their mother and keeping his sister from dying of fright.

*By now Nana had arrived at the lobby of the tower, and had perked up a bit upon seeing Eecheb running her way. Shortly after the perk had turned to light head shaking as the boy ran over to the small dirt pile he had acuminated. Standing back up, now the boy's hands were a mess and would need cleaning, one way or another. Eecheb's tail would wag back and forth triumphantly before he slapped his hands together, shaking off most of the large dirt chunks*
Eecheb: mrgreen | ... | >.> | She's right there!
*The boy would point back to the front doors, seemingly knowing where his mother was, and indeed he was right. Nana was no more than 30 feet from where Eecheb was, maybe 55 feet from Lee and the others. The sheen off of the buildings was probably reflecting back off of the doors, making Nana impossible to see. Eecheb only knew where his mother was, because he had learned how to detect auras a year or so before. Lee was probably quite visible to Nana at this point, and she was likely preparing as he was for this encounter. What should she say? What did he want to know? There were so many questions. The only way to know for sure though was to take the first step*
.___.
Don't trip...
*Psyching herself up, Nana would walk to the doors, open them, and greet Lee to the Citadel. It wasn't often that mortals saught an audience with anyone here, let along Nana. Most of the time, anyone paying a visit to the Citadel was looking for Mastema, so... this was kind of new for Nana too. If Lee was going to learn magic he might be staying in or around the Citadel, which would bring up other logistics that needed covering. But all of that would come in time. For now it was Lee's turn for re-introduction, and his request*
Hello, and welcome to the Citadel. sweatdrop

Lee smiled at the irony of the situation. Tegral had spent...how many years now hammering away at the Citadel trying to get inside to kill everyone? And here Lee was just walking up and being greeted by the Mistress of the Citadel herself, Nana. He couldn't help but chuckle lightly at the though, a deep rumbling affair in nature with his somewhat more rugged appearance. "Thanks, Eecheb, remind me next time I stop by and I'll pick you up a trophy for taking first place, all right?" He instructed the boy in regards to his self proclaimed race to the tower's entrance. Letting his chuckle die down and settle into a smile on his lips Lee strode in closer towards Nana so he wouldn't have to shout, though maintaining a good distance from either her children or herself. He remembered from Tegral how panicky and easily overwhelmed she could be, probably where Trilla got it from, and he wasn't in any hurry to try and tackling the defenders of the Citadel again...at least not without another full assault force at his back.
"Thank you, Nana." He inclined his head slightly in acknowledgement to the greetings and welcome. "Allow me to introduce myself, or well, rather, reintroduce myself if you will." Smiling at the lame pun Lee shrugged in a rather, 'yeah this is awkward as hell but I'm trying my best', manner. "My name is Leighton Mathews, but I find it best to just think of myself as Lee, so I suppose the whole Leighton thing was a waste. Any rate, my name is Lee."
Being a cyborg was so much easier, all he had to do was just point his gun and shoot. No need to be polite or kind, just a cold hearted killer. Or well a millicryllic hearted killer? Since, you know, Tegral didn't technically have a real beating heart instead he had a cybernetic replacement used to pump nutrients and what not into his mostly biological brain.

Eecheb: o.o | ?
*The boy wasn't really sure what a trophy was, there was no need for such things in the Citadel so they simply didn't have them. Actually there were a lot of things the kids probably wouldn't encounter until they left the Citadel. So many foreign concepts existed outside of their home, such as currency. What was it? Why was is? What was it for? Did they need it? What was it made of? So on and so on. If anything, the boy liked recognition for being first though. Trilla meanwhile had taken up her pose, in hiding behind Proto again*
Nnn. H-hello.
*There was a slight stutter from Nana in her reply to Lee's re-introduction. Leighton was quite a name, so Nana was content to stick with Lee. Back at the party when Nana had met Tegral, he had made mention that he wanted to learn magic from her. This man before her was also Tegral though- only now as flesh and bone, mortal, human. What he would learn, should Nana say 'yes' was for the most part up to her. That was something Lee would have to accept, as she was the teacher and he the student*
Well, Lee. You-- had a request of me?

Nana was partially correct in her assumption that Lee was Tegral. True the two were of the same creation, one a thing of metal and plasma the other a being of flesh and blood, but the two were also wildly different. Not just in the physical sense, which was readily apparent as the Admiral had boasted a much more intimidating figure of brawn where as Lee was lean and muscular like the woodsman he had become. They also differed in the way they spoke, acted, and thought. They were the same, yet different now that Lee had time to build his own memories of the world around him and integrate his own emotional build to his body. "Yes Nana, you're right." He answered in reply to her statement of a request, "And at the same time wrong." Scratching the back of his head he shifted the weight from one foot to the other while looking up at the tower in an obvious subconscious action of deep thought.
"A while back I was hiking up over the mountains along the northern stretch of the Silver Moon planes I had full intentions of returning here to make good on my request to learn arcane arts from you." He paused, still scratching the back of his head, though now he lowered his eyes from the tower and back to Nana. "Well I don't really have a leg to stand on." Lowering his scratching hand he shrugged his shoulders, "Look, Nana, I'm sorry. Sorry for everything Tegral has done in the past, for all the hardships he and KB put your family through, the distress and the general stress that his boorish mannerisms no doubt caused you. I remember the device he gave you and reflecting back on it it was the wrong choice. Among those of the Black Company you're the only one who doesn't have some agenda, some ultimate scheme against anyone else. Tegral should have realized it sooner, but so much of his humanity had been replaced by machinery I doubt he could ever have seen it. You're probably the closest thing to purity to have ever come to the Black Company and he tried to sully it by giving you the means to end so much." Typically Lee wasn't really one for long winded speeches or fancy words, but Nana, nor her protective husband Mastema, were ever going to trust him so the best he could hope for was just to get it out and learn the lesson he came to learn, even if Nana wasn't aware she was teaching it.
"I said you were wrong in that I had a request, asking you to forgive me for his past transgressions would be too far of a stretch. Knowing Mastema the way he did I have a fair idea that the idea of being tutored is a long shot, so I'm not going to bother asking just yet. I have a few more things I need to figure out first before I can even begin to contemplate what it would take to harness something as unstructured as magic." Leaning up against a near by pillar, probably a long disused street lamp or something of that nature, Lee sighed again. "So I guess it's just a total sum of, I'm sorry and even if you can't forgive me for what was done before could you at least accept the apology?"

*Nana would watch Lee as he fidgetted about, and looked up the tower. She was both right and wrong? Then what was it that he wanted, if not magic lessons? She would continue listening, but became puzzled as he continued. His mortal memories of the past... they had changed as time had passed. The device in particular-- did he mean... the cellphones he offered to both Mastema and herself back at the party? It was either that or the device he had offered Nana that would take out 75% of his forces, in a murderous painful end. If it was the latter... it never made it to Nana's hands, she didn't have it. In fact it should still be with Rookin and Kah, they never heeded their master's words and never delivered the device in the first place*
...Device?
*As Lee continued on and began to apologise, Nana would close her eyes lightly and kept listening. Since Lee's attention was on Nana, this was Trilla's chance to escape the scary Lee. While he spoke, the child would slowly turn and make a mad dash down a side street to freedom. This of course didn't go unnoticed by Eecheb, who would follow at his own speed after Nana began talking again. As Lee finished, Nana would take a moment to let things sink in before responding. She would start by shaking her head lightly*
No.
*Raising her gaze again, she would look back into Lee's eyes. Nana's expression seemed a solemn one, yet not a sad one either; she would continue*
...No, because it was not you who made these past transgressions. You are a seperate entity, you have done us no wrong. There is nothing for you to say sorry for, or to apologise for, therefore I cannot accept your apology.
*Lee was Lee, not Tegral. If anyone, Nana would accept the apology only from Tegral... but he wasn't around anymore, only Lee remained*
It would be to me, as if I were to apologised for any wrong doing or transgression upon the region beset by my husband. No one would accept that apology. It would have to come from Mastema's lips himself. Whether or not they accepted would have to be based on his apology, not mine. An apology from me would be but-- worthless, empty words to anyone elses ears.
*It was a little ironic that Nana mentioned Mastema's wrong doings in the BC. Mostly because she wasn't aware of how things were before she got there. It wasn't until afterwards that Mastema's attention had shifted away from the BC and more towards herself... and from Nana's point of view, it was the Citadel always being attacked by the members of the Black Company, and the Citadel simply defending itself. She was unaware that those attacks were in retaliation for-- well... past wrong doings by Mastema to the BC. Up until this point, no one had really ever said anything to her about it. Then again, Nana's arrival to the region seemed a god-send perhaps. After she had arrived with Mastema to the Black Company, Mastema calmed and for the most part... stopped. He was more interested in being with her than going out and causing chaos. Still-- Nana's answer, was no*

Tegral hadn't been in contact with either Rookin or Kah since the single explosive demonstration of his fortitude of breaking contact when he was still in a combat chassis, Lee had never physically met either of them. So the fact that Nana never actually physically acquired the kill switch was lost on him, after all the Admiral had been accustomed to having his orders followed without fail. Drawing a deep breath Lee started scratching the back of his head again, sighing heavily. "Man, I'm trying Nana. This is hard for me, I don't know how to completely erase him without destroying me. I am him and he is me, after all. I have Tegral's memories, I know everything he did and in a way it burdens my own soul even knowing half the horrors he was going to unleash upon your family." Lee shook his head as though trying to banish the images of war. There was a lot Nana and Mastema never got to see Tegral employ against them. Biological weapons, viruses that would do horrible things not to either of the adults but the children simply as an aggravation factor. He had plans left over for the prototype weapons he'd developed for Kaiori, weapons that would literally turn the happy couple into the means to destroy one another. Too much, there was just too much.
"I'm sure this is an annoyance for you," Lee finally said, his scratching stopping, "And you don't have any reasons to help me, and for that I am sorry, me, Lee, for dumping this on your head." Folding his arms over his chest he rocked from foot to foot, forcing himself to stop scratching the back of the head least he give the impression he's unwashed or has fleas or something. "I'm just kinda at a loss here. I do want to learn how to control this power I have now, and do so in a manner that isn't a provocation towards violence again, but first I need to figure out how I can be Lee with Tegral still in my head. I was hoping if I could see you, talk to you, and apologize that I'd be able to figure out the next step." Grumbling he turned his head and looked for a minute like he was gonna spit, glanced at Nana and thought better of it. "Buuuut, I'm back to square one now aren't I?" His smirk was a shade warmer than the heart of winter.

Trilla wouldn't get down more than a few blocks before being swept up smoothly in mid stride. "Whoa, someone's in a hurry. What's got my niece so worked up?" Sho beamed, holding Trilla in his arms. Being tuned in on his senses, it was easy for him to pick up Trilla running, and could tell Eecheb wasn't far behind, by his slower, heavier footsteps. Now he just had to tune in a little more to figure out where the sneaky one was.
Proto hadn't minded Trilla's need to use him as a shield, saluting Nana when she appeared, as was the routine. There wasn't much else to use the robot for anyway. Still, it didn't seem necessary for Trilla to take off now after nothing had happened up to that point. It seemed even less expected that Eecheb would take off after her, since most of the time he was more likely to ditch his sister than go after her. But those were only fleeting considerations. The topic of Lee and Nana's conversation was also strange, but it was one Proto had seen recurring often, though lacking a satisfying explanation. He wasn't sure whether he could erase Tegral without destroying himself? Then don't erase him. They were both one and the same? Then there was no problem; pick a designation and be consistent. These confusions over identity were little more than self-made dilemmas, and trivial ones at that.
