It's kinda scary to know that you could get banned for something you didn't even know about.

I know. After hearing this I wont accept gold from some one unless I know who it is. crying
And a lot of people depend on donations to help with their quests. And what about contests? Can those be trusted? Or even, god forbid, charities. I think this policy has the potential to really mess up a lot of users.

People like KC and Sryne that live in the exchange! All they have to do is sell to the wrong person and get banned!
Yep. I just made thread in the Q&A forum, trying to find out for sure if its true. If it is...its very disturbing.

Birdsong, what is Ranma?

I have missed work for a couple of days because I am dissy (lol). I know I'm always dissy! But this was like I move my head and feel like I've been drinking dissy.
Ew, dizzy's no fun. Are you feeling better?

I'm a little better now, I still get dizzy if I move to fast! I'm suppose to go to work this evening, so I think I'm gonna try.
I hope you feel alright at work. Don't push yourself too hard.

So far I've had two replies confirming that its true. And I have a poll and I have eight "yes" answers. So its looking like it really is true. Here's the most interesting, and disturbing, response I've gotten.

XX^__^XX
Yes... this is an example that ive seen:
Person A get botted gold and donates to person B. Person B donates to charity C, which donates to people D, E, F, and G. Person A - G get banned, no questions asked.

That one really bothers me. It means that littereally no one is safe to receive gold from. Not even friends and charities.

I can kind of understand the reasoning behind banning the reciever of 'fenced' botted gold , though. If I were a smart exploiter I would have seperate accounts..perhaps even on different machines so they couldnt rip my IP address to find out who I am. Then, just mail myself my ill-botten gains.

It's sort of like 'gold laundering' to 'clean up' the botted gold.
I can understand that too, but it kinda seems like they don't even bother to investigate the issue. They see that user X recieved botted gold, therefore they must be banned. Which means there's the potential for a lot of innocent people to permamnently lose their accounts and everything they worked hard for just for accepting a donation, or even a payment for a service they've provided. I actually found one artist in the Minishops, who stopped doing comissions, because she was scared of being payed with botted gold.

I know the reasoning behind the policy. I just think there has to be better way.

NO, I absolutely agree with you. and to answer ttig - even if you know the person you still run a risk. It's just a BIT safer, that's all.

I found your thread and was reading. WOW I can't believe that they wouldn't investigate though and try to find out! I mean KC donate alot of money for his letters as do I. So he probaly sold one to the wrong person.

Well I guess I won't be entering in any more contests!
PostPosted: Sun Jul 23, 2006 10:00 am

Quite possible. We don't know what really happened yet, but since the charge was botting, the most logical conclusion is that he somehow recieved botted gold from someone. I'm scanning the petitions right now to see if there is one for this issue. If not....I may make my own. The more I think about the policy and its repercussions, the more it really bothers me.

I'm sorry for your dizziness sad

Here is some info on Ranma 1/2 It's been around forever and I've been a fan for about 10 years biggrin

It's a Japanese anime comedy where a son and his father went to a secret training grounds filled with pools (Jesenkyo) in China. Each of these pools has it's wn unique curse. Well, the father and son fell into these -cursed pools-.. the result beign that when immersed in cold water the father becomes a panda and the son becomes ..erm.. a daughter...

Splashing with hot water turns them back to normal.

It's very fun biggrin

I don't think so...

The anime series lasted seven seasons along with like 5-6 movies. oohh FYI, Rumiko Takahasi, the creator and writer, is the same woman that created Inuyasha. Another incredibly-incredibly popular anime.
