Trilla: Wait for Trilla~ Don't go yet!
Eecheb: Ah--! Wait!
Micha: . . .
*It had been so long since the three had seen Thanatsos last, that they weren't just going to let him get away. No, they would follow him back to the tower, and along the way they would try-- talking a little more. It was something the children needed to learn to do anyways, there weren't too many people to converse with aside from family, it was all they really seemed to have. Until the outside world seemed a little less scary, the children wouldn't be talking to many people from there. Trilla had-- someone she seemed to talk to every once in a while, an invisible friend or something that had been around since the beginning. Micha was a little less anti-social now, though still only used sign, a draw back when trying to communicate with Than. Eecheb was probably the most talkative to Thanatos directly, as he seemed to be the first one Thanatos would usually find, perhaps because he needed the extra attention*
Trilla: Um- um... Can Thanatos come home more? Trilla misses you when you're gone a long time!
Eecheb: Ya, you're gone for too long. We don't see you. I want you to teach me how to be stronger and stuff.

Than hadn't been able to take more than a few steps before he stopped and turned back to his siblings, blinking. He certainly hadn't expected such a vocal response to him going to get cleaned up. Of course, Than probably didn't understand how long a time really passed between his visits. It wasn't something that normally occurred to him. "Okay, Okay, I'm not going without you." He chuckled a little nervously, starting to walk again only when he was sure that his siblings were at his sides. He took his time walking, knowing that he could easily outpace the trio with his longer legs. At first when he heard what Trilla had to say he thought that was just her way of saying she wanted to spend a little more time with him, which he would have said was just the way she was, but any topic where Trilla and Eecheb agreed was more serious. He doubted both would be saying the same thing if it was just wanting to spend a day with him or something of the sort. "Ah-- this is a little surprising, to tell you the truth," Than was almost unsure of what he should say, although he knew he had things he could and couldn't do. "I didn't know I was that important to have around often. There's not all that much for me to get done back at the tower." Than scratched at the back of his head, perhaps scraping away a few specs of dirt from his scuffle, and then he tilted his head back, walking down the street looking blindly toward the sky. "You know what, I don't even know why I avoid the tower so much. It's not like there's a big difference where I am from my standpoint. I guess it's just because I train alone these days; I don't take lessons from Uncle Sho or Slayer anymore, so I just go off and train on my own time. A pretty stupid reason to avoid home isn't it?" Turning his face back to the direction he was walking, Than smiled a little and took on a more light-hearted tone to address Eecheb. "What? Me? Teach you to be stronger? I don't really know what I could do to help you get stronger. You're already pretty tough on your own. Besides, your big brother isn't all that strong.... I wish I could say I was."

*Compaired to the children, Thanatos certainly was stronger, there was no doubt of this though he still claimed otherwise. For what reason did Thanatos train? To protect those he cared about? But at the cost of alienating those he cared about, was it really worth it? Eecheb wanted to train with Thanatos, was that so bad? He wanted to spend more time with Thanatos, as did all the children, after all Thanatos was their elder brother. He was, whether he liked it or not, a role model to the children. An' the children wanted to be around their only big brother. Even if he was only a year older, he had experiences they did not, he had lived outside of the citadel, saw many things, knew and conversed with many other people. Thanatos' experience was invaluble, even if he didn't see it for himself. A single outting when they were young wasn't enough for the children, and it was a rather mixed outting at that. If they knew what Thanatos had just come back from, the children would likely never let Thanatos leave again for fear he would be hurt or worse. They loved him, and he probably wasn't aware how much*
Eecheb: Why is it surprising? Ya, what she said! So there's not much to do at home, you can visit us can't you? You are strong!
Trilla: Thanatos is super important! Yes! So come home more often. (T3T)

Thanatos was having a difficult time understanding why he felt so nervous, if that was the right word. Maybe cornered was a better word, even though he wasn't actually in any danger right now. Really, it was probaby neither of those. It was because moments like this brought him back to the person he'd been before and when the kids were born. The small, weak, and insignificant Thanatos who just wanted everything to be peaceful, who had at one point loved Kaiori, who had cared deeply for everyone in the Black Company, and who was the last threat anyone faced. It was all altruistic, non-sensicle babble to him now. Yes, that Thanatos would have loved to hear what Trilla and Eecheb were saying now. That Thanatos would have gladly responded 'of course! I'll wait down in the cafeteria at breakfast every morning if you like!' Just imagining the cheerfulness of his character created a violent urge in the back of Than's mind which was suppressed no more than a moment later. "Heh, I really must be horrible at this big brother intuition thing. I'm here in the same place day after day and I still had no idea..." He could even feel the sadness on Trilla's face; she was just too expressive with her atmosphere. "I guess you're right, Eecheb. I shouldn't be surprised at all. I'm just really dumb for not understanding. It's true that I've missed you guys to. I remember all of you pretty much every day, but I've just let my training become too important and too much of a habit. But you guys win." Than inhaled deeply, and held his breath for a few seconds, before he breathed it all out. Then he straightened up and spoke clearly. "All right then, I'll make sure I take one day off a week to come back home...... you know what, just make it two days. I can take up the slack on other days."

*When Than finally said he was going to take a day or two off a week to be with them, the children's reaction was an ecstatic one to say the least. Now they could start building deeper bonds with their brother, talk to him, let him find out how they're doing, what they're learning. It was really a win/win situation for both sides. Now hopefully nothing would happen to change that. The occasional fight sure, but as long as they had their older brother in good health, they would be happy. The next step would be learning more of the outside world from Than, and also learning the names and faces of people outside too, including those that would try to harm them. Surly Zio had a few faces on file, after all the attacks on the Citadel over the years, and other visitors who had come by. For now though, Thanatos could probably settle with Eecheb and Trilla latching to him after their ecstatic start*

"Hey, whoa!" Than's surprise was again somewhat stupid. It wasn't like there was any other possible action that would follow the excitement, especially not with his siblings. "You guys might be growing up, but you're still just as excitable." He sighed contently, knowing Micha wasn't far behind either of them. It was refreshing to see them so enthusiastic. "All right, not so tight now; I can't walk if you keep hanging onto me so much." He started walking again, patting Eecheb's head with his right and and Trilla's with his left. He was less tense now than he had been a minute ago when the children first asked, but he was still figuring in the back of his mind how he was going to keep up with the training he'd been doing so obsessively and still make good on his word.

*The children would lighten up a little, allowing Than to move about more freely as he wished. But after Than had his shower and got cleaned up, then what? It was getting a bit later on in the day, if Nana caught them, they'd likely be scooted on to bed after a light super and hugs. With Than's assurance they would be able to see him at least once a week, they could be satisfied with the day ending like that. As Thanatos, Trilla and Eecheb went on ahead, Micha would fall behind for a minute or two, the boy was looking to the south and would stare for several seconds before moving on again. If Thanatos and the others went out of sight, the boy would still be fine, he could see the central tower*
Trilla: whee heart
Eecheb: Are you going to have a shower?

Micha wouldn't find himself falling that far behind. Than was attentive enough to know that the boy had stopped and refused to leave him behind. Than turned around when Micha had stopped for a few seconds and called out to him. "Oi, Micha! Come on, buddy, we're waiting on you. We either move together or we don't move at all, ya?" He smiled back toward the boy, even though he couldn't see, and only resumed walking once Micha had caught up. Sure he didn't display the same ecstatic bursts of his brother and sister, but Than was no less going to keep him involved than his siblings.
"Yeah I don't really think I have any choice but to take a shower right now, bro. I'm pretty sure these pants are ready to be laid to rest for good too. I need a new get up anyway. It's not exactly gonna look good if I walk around with dirt for a shirt." He chuckled again, once more patting Eecheb before making a joke hopefully the boy could appreciate. "The dirt just gets in the way of my muscles, after all." Soon enough, he was walking up the flight of stairs to the entrance of the tower, all three of his siblings just a few feet from him. "Huh, that's strange. Proto doesn't seem to be here right now."

Micha: . . .
*After the few seconds had passed, Micha moved along until he was at Thanatos' heels and looking straight up at him; they could now proceed. At word of dirst covering muscles, Eecheb would look down at his own attire, which was also more than a little dirty. He would often get scholded for coming back all covered in dirt, and now was likely to be no different. The boy had to go back to the old department store with Nana several times since the initial visit, just to keep refreshing his quickly worn out wardrobe. By comparison, Micha and Trilla had revisited the store maybe a third of the times Eecheb had since their first outting to it. Though right now, Trilla had a few grass stains on her current attire; Micha seemed to be the only clean one of the lot, save for a few specs of dirt in his hair from when Than patted him, but clean other than that*
Eecheb: >.> | We can go to the building with lots of clothes in it then. I got some pants there.
*Meanwhile, Nana was taking a short break from supervising the bathroom renovations, and had headed down the tower. She had noticed the time, and inquired to Zio of the children's wareabouts. Learing they were already on their way back to the tower, she left to go greet them. A few seconds after Thanatos mentioned Proto being absent, Nana would open the doors to the tower instead*

"I've got some clothes I can take for now. Maybe I'll find something useful later." Than had barely finished his sentence when he heard Nana's voice and looked up in the direction it came from, just in time to hear her realize how out of shape he was. "Ah, busted......... Not that bad, right?" Sure, Eecheb and Trilla had some dirt and grass, but that was nothing compared to Than. He had dirt and mud smears all over his arms, torso and pants. The pants themselves had another problem in that they were shredded and torn. They were probably a small wind storm away from total destruction below the knees. At least his shoes were in one piece. "Maybe just a little above average?"

o____o;
I think we better get the lot of you inside, fed, and cleaned up.
*It wouldn't be long before Nana had motioned everyone indoors, and looked them over from head to foot to see what had to be accomplished to get them back up to snuff. Laundry was in the near future, as well as a small meal and showers for all. No one, not even Thanatos would wriggle out of this one. Within an hour or so the children had, had their bite to eat and were washing up before bed. Where Thanatos choose to bed down for the night was his decision. Even if he was only 4, he had a much older body, and was a little more adult mentally, Nana wasn't going to ignore that fact at all. None the less, she'd mother him as much as he would allow her to, and if he so chose, perhaps they could spend the evening just talking, but that was only if he wanted to*

Sheparding was probably a good way to describe what Nana was doing to the four of them. After lining the meat up and inspecting the rot so to speak, Nana would load the chain gang onto the elevator and ship them off to get their new uniforms, and then it was off to the mess hall. At least the food was good, Thanatos thought. Most of the time they were eating Than was quiet, letting Trilla and Eecheb be the one's to converse with Nana. Either that or he was talking to Micha in his own silent language. After the meal, Than would be the one quickest to hop in a shower and the quickest to get out. He was in long enough to wash up but not long enough to make himself well groomed. He figured he'd be unfashionable soon enough anyway. Within the hour, Nana would probably be able to find that all the kids but Than were in their rooms. A cursory inquiry by any means would tell her Than was on the bottom floor again, in the lobby.
"Gah, I swear I need to find away to make this piece of junk sturdier." He was reclining in a kind of high chair, higher than the ones you'd find at a dining table, with his mechanical arm resting on a covered counter. His arm had its plating removed and its innards exposed. On the other side of the counter, Proto beeped back at Than's comment and continued tinkering with his arm using several hand tools he'd brought with him. At least it wasn't a major fix that required the entire arm structure be repaired. "Dammit, Proto, you know I was talking about my arm...."

*Once the children were through with their showers, the well groomed kind at that, Nana would see them off to bed. Each receiving those little motherly extras, all save for one, Thanatos. He was already downstairs with Proto working on something. The question now was whether or not she should intrude. If possible, Nana would want to give Thanatos his goodnight, face to face, rather than over Zio. All though at this point Nana wasn't entirely sure if Thanatos would think himself too old for such things now. The boy had changed a great deal afterall, her kind-hearted mothering might no longer have a place with him; Nana was unsure what she could and couldn't do now. Thanatos didn't exactly make it clear what bounderies there might be either if any, it was an akward stage*
Khnn....
*Deciding to take a chance after some though, Nana would begin heading down to where Thanatos was. If anything she could bid him a goodnight, and if she was allowed to get away with anything more, she would. It would be nice to see her friend Proto again as well, as always. Finally nearing the area Thanatos was supposed to be in, Nana would quietly inquire of his wearabouts, hoping he would hear her*

The initial response to Nana would be Proto's familiar beeping rather than Than, who followed up shortly after. "Yeah. I'm right here." Than didn't have a problem with Nana being present while Proto finished working on his left arm. "It's okay to come in. I wouldn't look directly at Proto while he works though; the light might not be good for your eyes." Proto's tools gave off intense light whenever he was making a solder or another electrical contact. Such light was obviously no problem for Thanatos, but it could still damage an unprotected eye. Than himself looked much cleaner now. He wore black dress pants like the others he'd had before they were shredded, but for now he was shirtless, probably because he didn't want to wear one and because it would get in the way of Proto's work. "Proto's just fixing up my arm. The wrist is busted."

Hello you two~ heart
*A warm greeting would be returned to both Thanatos and Proto, once Nana was told she could enter the area. Than's last statement would throw Nana off for a moment, until she realized Thantos was speaking of his mechanical arm, and not his real one. An obvious sigh of relief would be heard, though it may be lost on Than and Proto. Nana would inquire a little farther about how Than was feeling, while covering her eyes with a sleeve when ever Proto started working on the arm again*
You're-- alright otherwise?
*There was no doubt Nana felt concern for Thanatos, he was a member of the family afterall. After asking her question, Nana would take another step or two closer to the pair. Than was shirtless again, but this was more of a norm, and so didn't get too much of a reaction. Reaching out with her free hand, Nana would pat Than on the back reasuringly as most parents would; Nana's hands were soft as always. A moment or two later, another question would follow the first*
How did that happen?
