Love to Paint

PostPosted: Sun Jul 24, 2011 7:37 am

I myself am planning on getting some painting done today. I was just thinking about your painting and wondering how it was going. Its cool you gave us an update. I can't wait to see it!!!

Not sure how to ask because i don't know what its called where you live. But... Whats your major? or What will your degree be in? Are you looking forward to getting baqck to classes?
PostPosted: Mon Jul 25, 2011 6:49 am

Well, here's another update! I slept in a little too long this morning so I didn't get as much done today as I had hoped...though having said that, I asked mum if she'd wake me up extra early tomorrow so I can do some solid painting.
My degree will be a Bachelor of Science. I don't have to do a major until my third/fourth year, and right now, I have no idea what I want to specify in. My course allows me to do whatever I like in the science field. I can choose all my subjects, and sculpt my timetable to whatever I wish. It's very awesome.
Bump.

Love to Paint

PostPosted: Tue Jul 26, 2011 4:56 pm

I didn't paint either, but I did today! And as soon as I am done here I will be painting some more. I got a lot of good work done in a short amount of time. I think I may finish a painting today. I have three in my series finished. I have no idea how many will be in the series when its done. I am thinking about 13, maybe more. The first one finished, I think will be the best! Its about my girlfriend. Its one of my best paintings ever. All that emotion just poured out onto the canvas.

Am still looking forward to your painting. Did you get work done?

How you do college sounds great. I was an art major and the degree does me no good. There are no jobs for artists here. I am working at a Jo Ann's, Which is a fabric store that sells craft and art supplies. If I had it to do over, I would go into something that is easy to find a job in. I hate retail. I will be getting out of it as soon as I can. I love the people I work with and the customers are great but I just function much better with a set schedule. One of the people I work has a crush on me. It was mutual for a bit, til things with my girlfriend solidified. Now that person is trying to help me get a position in the framing department, which is at least a bit closer to art. I work well with everybody in framing so I am hopeful.

OHHH YAY for me. My art is in the local pagan store and a woman is interested in two of my paintings. One of the canvases is warped so I am letting it go for 80 dollars, the other one is 160. She cannot make arrangements til next month but she loved them. SO YAY.

Will you start another painting when you are finished with this one?

What kind of science? Physical or Biology?
PostPosted: Wed Jul 27, 2011 7:55 am

Well I didn't get any painting done today (I had some running around to do and I went to see Harry Potter which was awesome). I'd love to see your series once it's finished.
It's good that someone is interested in buying your paintings! I hope she does buy them, because by the sounds of things your art is really something special. smile
Once I've finished the painting for my boyfriend I will continue with the slightly smaller one that I started last year and never got around to finshing. That one's a depiction of the main aspects of last year, my last year at high school. After that, I shall hopefull complete the 12-part series I started two years ago.
I just like science, any science and I'm happy with it. Though right now, I'm loving Earth-based and geological sciences. They're just so interesting and engaging.

Oh I loved my geology classes in college! I really enjoyed learning about plate tectonics. We went on a field trip where we got to follow the signs of a fault line. It was so interesting. The one I never got to take was rocks and minerals, which is sad, it would have been the best one for a pagan. I have a nice collection of crystals and I really don't remember as much as I'd like to about them.

I did get some painting done. I hope to get some more done today. I decided that one of the paintings I thought was finished needs a bit more work, so now I only have two done. So far most of the paintings have been portraits more or less, but I started one and it has turned into a mermaid and another one has turned a bit surrealistic. It has a floating candle between a floating head and the moon. I don't always end up with what I started out to do. I have not yet started journaling (is that a real word?) about the paintings, but I want to because I want to remember all that I thought about these people at the times I did the paintings and what aspect of them I concentrated on. The first one is easy enough to remember for all eternity, my girlfriend is Goddess to me. The mermaid is our local pagan shop owner, because she is just so laid back about everything. She has a lot of knowledge that she is happy to share when asked, but she never pushes anything on anybody. She goes with the flow of everything and she refuses to get involved with any of the local witch wars.

I did not know you had so many painting projects started. I am even more interested in seeing your work now. The one about high school sounds interesting. And how do you start a series and know its a 12 parter? Is it about the months in the year? The zodiac? Am curious about that one.

Thanks. I am excited somebody wants to buy the paintings. I went to the store the other day and met the lady. She was very sweet about the work.

Our starter geology subject has a little of everything - plate tectonics, minerals, rocks, fossils etc. It was brilliant.
I got a decent amount of painting done today but I'm still a couple of days away from having it finished. I don't keep a journal about my art - well a written one anyway. I take photos of my work each day as it progresses and then print them out and write little comments about them.
I'll be uploading pictures of all of my pieces on DA eventually.
My 12-piece is actually inspired by a song - each part is in reference to two lines of the song (The Battle of Evermore by Led Zeppelin). I've actually got one of the canvases finished already - the other eleven are still sitting in my room.

OK, so I will be pulling out the Led Zeppelin and refamiliarizing myself with it. Can't wait to see them. I have a friend who just loves Led Zeppelin, I am going to brag about knowing you and what you are doing.

I love your idea of taking work and photographing your progression. I would love to be doing something like that. I have not yet started writing about my new work.

I just found out that Lughnasadh is at my house instead of where it was going to be, so now I have to get my place cleaned up. I was supposed to have my free time free and was planning on getting a lot of painting done. Its so hot here That I am painting in the living room, which is the coolest room. I don't want anybody to see my work til its done so I have to get it all hidden til after Lughnasadh.

I had a bit of rocks and minerals in a basic geology class, but really wanted to take the whole class.
How big are the canvases for The Led Zeppelin series?

Do you paint much, or at all while you are in session?

We named the 2 kittens, Zaphod and Trillion, so it looks like we have 2 more cats around here.

Brag all you like. wink
The photographing of my work was actually an old art teacher's idea and my whole year 11 art folio had photos of the progress of all my work as well as heaps of sketches.
Imbolc is the first day of uni for me, so as I'm not allowed candles on uni I will have an army of electric candles to play with...
I don't really paint that much while I'm at uni because I don't have normal weekends anymore...thought this semester's timetable may be a little more merciful when it comes to painting time.
I love the kitten's names - Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is awesome.

We are big Hitchhiker fans here. Read all the books, several times. Have listened to several different audio versions, watched the BBC videos, own the movie. A lot of phrases from the book have made it into the household lexicon here, for example Anytime someone is acting depressed, we just call them Marvin. A friend of mine uses VogonPoet as her e-mail address. We really love Dirk Gently as well. The first book was good, but the second one, Long Dark Tea Time of the Soul, might very well be my favorite Douglas Adams book of all. Have you read them?

I have a weeks worth of cleaning to get done in the next 24+ hours so I may not be on again tonight or for the next few days, pagan stuff to do, cats to try and make behave (like that will ever happen)

Have a wonder Lughnasadh or Imbolc.

Bump

Our landlord is a really bad hoarder with attachment problems... the garage was full of rusted pans, recliners covered in rat poop, microwaves that have been damaged by rainwater, very old TVs (one in particular would have taken up my entire desk, and I have a big desk), and a lot more.
He got a 30 notice to get all the clutter out before we get evicted.
I hope my mother and I can do this ourselves, because he went to Mexico. sad

I've only ever watched the movie, I'm currently impatiently waiting for my brother to finish reading the books so I can read them. Oh Marvin is so cute (in a strange depressed kinda way)!
I've finally finished the painting for my boyfriend! I shall upload the photos tomorrow (as long as my internet holds out - I'll be back up in Ballarat by then), and if I can't have them uploaded tomorrow you'll have to wait until the weekend... xp

I hope everything works out well for you White_crow, horrible landlords are just awful. (Did that even make sense? O.o)

Well here's the finished painting as promised! It's actally got much more around the edges, I just zoomed in on the subject so you'd be able to see it better.

It is SO cool! He will love it. When does he get it? I love the way you used red and green together and I love how the green runs in the ground work. I want to know his reaction when he sees it.

xd He'll be getting it this weekend on Saturday once dad has screwed in a cople of hooks so it can be hung up. I shall tell you all about his reaction as soon as I get my hands on a computer afterwards!
This was probably the most detailed (and the most fun painting) I've ever done! I'm glad you like it.

I really do like it. I can't wait for entervixen to get back and see it. Are you excited to give it to him? Are you nervous? I always get very nervous when I give a painting as a gift. You don't need to be though its great. So I have forgotten, or maybe I never asked, Does he know he is getting it? Or is it a complete surprise?

I got new glasses the other day and I am having problems getting used to them. My computer screen looks curved at the bottom. Weird. Whenever I walk from one surface to another it looks like there is a drop off. More weirdness.
