Oh she was treading dangerous ground. "And who are you to give me parenting tips? The woman who claims herself to be a horrible parent and not even capable of correct parenting." Below the belt? He didn't consider it to be so in this case. All was fair right now. "You don't want to be his parent, so stay out of the parenting department. Got it?" Oh yes Sevilin was deathly serious about this and not happy at all. "And he has a reason to be mean to you, you just don't care to think about it."
Thus sitting back down and grabbing a book...he needed to get to work damn it and this wasn't helping at all. She had no right to say anything anyway, she was the one who didn't want to be the parent.
Piper gave a nod and came back to the dinning room with Lark, though instead of going to her seat she walked by Malikhai's chair, picking the boy up as she did so and then sat in his seat with the boy in her lap. He could still concentrate on his father and she could check him out. Taking him gently by the chin and turning his head to her...of course he kept trying to look back at his fahter. "Let me see."
Like when I stare at the fire, like I'm not supposed to and then I look away and blink and things move fast. That was the best way he could come up with it really. Worked for him. But a blink as he was picked up and mommy took his seat kinda. And then made him look at her, but he was trying to listen to daddy. "I thought we were talking about magic lessons." Couldn't let daddy forget. Not at all.

He shook his head. "She knows. She's just not sorry for what she did. I have to be mean to her. It's only fair." And to his mind, it was. "Yes, when do we get to start learning stuff?"
She glared at him and as was her defense whenever she got hurt, she hit back much harder. "You're exactly right Sevilin, I have no business whatsoever giving you parenting tips. If you want your son to turn into you, go right ahead and let him. I'm finished with it. I tried, you ignored so what is going to happen will happen. But don't be surprised when other things start occurring and he becomes more and more like you." she shook her head. She was batting 0-2 on decent relationships today, now wasn't she? Leaving the library seemed like the prudent thing to do but where would she go? The faint strain of voices she could barely decipher told her the D'Vinn family was up and she didn't want to risk talking to them and having yet another person jump down her throat today. Instead she plopped down on the couch with her own book, ignoring Sevilin.

Arthur smiled lightly as he leaned against the table, well all they had to do was wait and hopefully she will be better in about an hour. "Not a problem Isle, I'm glad that I could help." He said to her token of thanks. So now all Isle had to do was sit there and Arthur had no problem with that so he returned to his seat and sat down with a plate of food in front of him from one of the slaves bringing it and he started to eat quietly while the others went about their own business.

"I didn't forget. but since that is settled down, lessons for magic will be starting next week, and they will be downstairs in the arena area to lessen chances of injury. speaking of the arena, Arthur. You have training to do. also, there are several books in the library pertaining to religions. I'd like for you to go over those as well to see if anything sparks a interest in faith."

Yeah for right now she was just going to sit here and enjoy the feeling of the chair and ponder such thoughts until she got better. But oh the feeling of knowing she wasn't at all presentable looking...she should at lease be persentable on the barest of levels.
And Zahara had just hit a home run...though not in the good sense. Thus...he was going to play hardball. Usually one to keep his cool, but this was really reaching a breaking point with him. "Fine, if you are finished then you can get out of my house as well. Then you won't even have to look at him, worry about him, or care at all about him. You don't even have to babysit anymore if you don't want to, I can watch him myself."
No his tone wasn't joking at all. And on that note, he gathered all his work things and promptly left the library, even taking Nym with him, and relocated himself down to the arena. He'd have more space there anyway and well...could work off some frustration too.
Malikhai didn't particularly like to be prodded at, but he was trying really hard to pay attention to his father, while his mother was busy looking for something or other on him. Maybe it was dirt. He hadn't taken a bath the night before after all. Long as she didn't do that mom spit think to get anything off. Wait injury? He didn't like the thought of that. "Why are we gonna get hurt?"
Okay...she wasn't really believing what she was seeing here. Yet she thought she saw it or she was just going crazy. What looked like to be almost the slightest hints of small gold slivers in the child's eyes. Okay a few rational explaination...he had somehow gotten into gold dust, or sparkles or someting...or this was some kind of genetic thing that was maybe developing with age. After all...triple blooded elf, half surface, half underdark...who knew what could happen. So then a look to Malik. "A'mael, look at his eyes for me." She was probably just seeing things...

Zykariel just nodded. "I'll tell Daddy. Are we done now?" He had to get back to Daddy. It wasn't good to leave him alone with her in the room. And he needed to get Nym too and Mr. Malik wasn't even talking to him anymore. In fact they were basically ignoring him to study Malikhai. Both of them, together, were concerned about Malikhai. Zykariel felt his stomach tighten and what felt like a very heavy ball settle there. He rubbed it lightly, but it didn't go away. Strangely enough, he felt the way he did just before he had a magic attack but he wasn't going to have a magic attack, this was different.
She couldn't believe her ears. Surely she had heard him wrong, surely he was just jesting or just trying to upset her. He was playing her own game by her own rules which most didn't even attempt. But before she could respond, he was gone which left her there to digest what he said. Another shake of her head. He wouldn't force her to move out, that was her house too, even if...well it really wasn't. She'd lived there long enough and she'd taken care of his son while he needed her every day for the past two or so years. Surely that deserved some sort of compensation on his part even though she didn't think of it that way normally. "God damn him...he wouldn't mkae me move out. He just wouldn't." That fear set aside, she returned to her book though she couldn't quite shake the ring of finality she'd heard in his voice.

Arthur finished his breakfast and sighed lightly as he pushed his plate away, with his stomach now full he felt better about things, for now at least. But then came the comment from Malik that he had to start training again, oh well good things had to come to and end sooner or later. But one thing had gotten to him when the drow spoke, Malik wanted him to think about picking a religion? Why would he want him to do that? Arthur knew there were different gods out there that people pay their respects to and he had been fine without one all of his life so this was bugging him a little bit. "If you don't mind me ask Malik why do you want me to take a look at religion books? I just want to know since out of all the time you have been training me you never mentioned religion until now." Was he complaining? No he was just curious as to why Malik wanted him to look at those books, after all elves are curious in nature are they not?

"Because there are things that may be needed, and powers that may be inherited should you follow a path in religion. that's why. Part of my power is form the diety I adhere to. a Paladin has similar abilities. the counter to my own, thier Lay on Hands to my Harm Touch."
then a raise of his brow at Piper, and taking Malikhai..before taking a look over at Zykariel. he knew that look, and that movement.
"I think you, me, and Zahara need to have a get together, Zykariel. but for now, yes, everything is all done, you can go to your father now."
Then back to Malikhai...taking a look at his eyes.
"Were you playing with anything that was dusty and gold?"

And of course Isle felt the need to pipe in. "Or you know...it's just good to know what others can do when they give claim to a god and get invested with power." She knew the whole damn panteon in her plane...not that she paid too much attention to the Gods but she knew them and what not.
Okay, being passed to daddy. Apparently he wanted to have a look too. Hm, attention was good. Very good. And hey as long as it didn't mean anything bad he was good with it. But then he thought a moment on the question posed to him. "Ummm....no. Nuh uh." shaking his head to emphasis the answer. He knew he wasn't to play with those kings of things, only the things in the nursery were his play things.
Oh good, so she wasn't seeing things. Though that meant for interesting results now didn't it? After all, Malik had often mentioned how rather silvery as opposed to gray the boy's eyes were. And at his answer to his father's question...well yeah, that made for confirmations didn't it? Counted for why he was rubbing his eyes if it was an inherited trait, the light was playing with them.
Meanwhile, Sevilin had set up his own little space in the stand like seating of the arena. At least it was quiet down here and he didn't have to worry about Zykariel not knowing where he had gone, having left a little rune that acted almost like a note. The boy was quite familiar with them. Though he was still pissed, not getting too much down and more or less having a block in his thinking right now.

He pouted for a moment, his face reflecting his discomfort but he didn't tell Malik that he had no intentions of talking to her at all. Not even if asked to by Mr. Malik. Slipping down off his chair, he toddled back into the library and glanced around noting the absence of his father. However he did see the runic note that was left which he knew from experience would alert his father that he was looking for him. All he had to do was touch it. Walking over he did touch the rune and then got a rather evil idea.
His steps carried him rather quickly over to stand before Zahara and he reached out and snatched her book from her then threw it on the ground. "What did you do to him?" he demanded, crossing his arms over his chest. "It's your fault he's gone since he was here before you, so what did you do?"
She glanced up in surprise and then looked at the book then at the sparking violet eyes of the child in front of her. "Zykariel, pick up my book. You shouldn't throw things."
"Answer me! What did you do to him? Did you upset him with one of your mean comments? Did you hit him? Shove him away like you do? What did you do?"
She shook her head and clenched her teeth trying to keep her temper in check. Standing she picked up her book and retook her seat. "I didn't do anything to him. He got irritated and left."
And after hearing that sometihng in him broke.Perhaps it was the rock in his tummy, perhaps it was the way she ordered him about and didn't really care but he glared at her acusingly. "Because you upset him! You always do!" He snatched her book from her again and threw it across the room. "You stay away from him! He doesnt' need you, he has me! And I'm a lot better than you are. You wont' steal him from me, I won't let you. It'd be better if you just went away anyway. You can even take Nym if you want but we don't need you and... we don't want you either!" he finished angrily, gaining confidence in what he was saying. His eyes were teary but he turned and stomped out of the library then leaned against the wall holding his tummy to wait for his father to arrive, wiping his eyes to rid himself of the tears that tried to fall.
Zahara was dumbfounded. She'd never encountered so much hostility since she'd been back at home. Arthur, Sevilin, Zykariel...what was with everyone today? She just couldn't do anything right, now could she?

Arthur's ears twitched with interest a bit, Malik and Isle both gave good examples of why he should read those books; first if he could learn that Lay on Hands technique he could give Malik a taste of his own medicine for once, it'll look good on him. Second Isle brought up a very good point, if he wasn't interested in a religion he should look it up just incase he would met others that follow under a god and he might have to get into a scarp with them. "Well thanks for the offer..." He directed at Malik then a turn to Isle. "...and the information I'll think it over for now, though I don't know if I'll follow one or not, the answer will come to me when it needs to." Yup this was a major subject for him to think about, he didn't mind the gods, they were there and whatnot but he loved living his life with his own direction and thoughts not having to go through life by the means of another, eh he'll put it on the back burner and check up on it later.

Sevilin was further pulled from what he was trying to do, operative word being trying, by a slight burning sensation on his palm. Flipping his hand over to look at it and seeing a little rune alight. Seemed Zykariel was back and looking for him already. Alright then...time to fetch the child. Sevilin could find something or other for him to so...maybe guild sand castles or something in the arena sands.
But he got himself up and walked to the library, only to find Zykariel standing againt the wall and not looking happy. Which worried him because well Zahara was in the library. She upset the boy these days. So then Sevilin merely picked the child up, patting at his back lightly and turning on his boot heel. "Library was too stuffy." His simple explaination as he walked back to the arena with his boy. "You okay?"

His eyes narrowed and he sighed. "Don't lie for her Daddy, she doesn't deserve it..." He sniffled lightly and laid his head against the shouldered tunic. "No..." Tears in his voice that became apparent on his cheeks as well as he began to cry. "I feel like I swallowed a rock and I know better than that 'cause you tolded me not to. I didn't, honest. But I feel like I did Daddy..." The rate of his tears picked up and he shook his head. "I dont' like it!"

"That's right...we don't eat rocks...only silly fish do." His attempt to help the child feel a little better. Sitting down where he had set up, Sevilin sighed and reached out a hand, closing all of his books and piling them and his papers up...he wasn't going to be getting any work done and he didn't intend to why his boy was upset and crying. Thus the boy was sat on his lap, but still held close, Sevilin petting lightly through his hair and rubbing his back in soothing motions.
And then he pulled his arm out some and tipped the child so he was in a slighlt reclined position, where about Sevilin went to lightly rubbing at the boys stomach in the age old gesture of a parent making something feel better even if they werent really doing anything. "Helping?"

He rubbed at his eyes some more trying to stop the tears that wanted to keep coming. He wasn't a happy elf at all but Daddy was helping at least a little bit. He let him rub at his tummy for a little bit and nodded. "A little. I think you're breaking it up into little rocks that don't feel as bad..."
He whimpered softly and kept his head against his father's chest. "I yelled at her Daddy. I was really mean but she deserved it since she made you mad and want to leave." Then a moment passed and he imparted much happier news, his tears finally drying up. "Mr. Malik says that lessons will start in a week down here, Daddy. Oh and did you know he can talk in heads?"
