Today was art class with fellow students Penny, Nemona and Florian. Eventually Tristen and the other three would all find themselves in Mr. Hassel's room and begin to chat among themselves before class started.
"I saw you finally joined the school's PoryCord, Tristen. What made you finally want to join?" Penny asked.
"Yeah, sorry about the whole battle thing they were talking about last night. Didn't mean to stir things up for you already on the server." Nemona apologized.
"That's why I never say anything and just lurk." Florian chimed in. Guess he was more of a silent character.

Tristen would find his way into the classroom to meet up with Florian, Nemona, and Penny. After the initial hellos, Penny would quickly bring up something he didn’t really imagine that would have garner much attention. “Oh, uh…eheh, I…finally got a laptop yesterday for my dorm to actually get on to actually try it. I mean, I guess I could have tried otherwise, like on one of the computers in the library, but I figured to just wait around. Kept myself pretty busy around here anyways to try. Not to mention, some of the teachers like Ms. Raifort brought up that she uses it here and there and I assumed the other teachers do as well probably for classes, so I figured it’d help for classes.” Tristen explained. “I didn’t do really much on there, but I did see that stuff from yesterday, though. Its fine, Nemona. I got the feeling that anyone that actually tries to battle you would garner attention. Penny mentioned around the time of the tournament that people went crazy there at the time. In any case, I’m just needing to put in the work where I can in Pokémon training.” Tristen said.

"A laptop? That's pretty sweet, what kind did you get? Your parents send it to you?" Penny inquired with Tristen, interested in what kind of hardware he was working with, after all she was the computer whiz.
"Well if you ever want to train together I'm game! Have you ever hit up Glaseado Mountain? Lots of good training spots with strong Pokemon and you can snowboard back down once you're done!" Nemona said to Tristen.
"I don't think Tristen is looking for that high level of Pokemon to train against. Aren't you trying to work on your less trained Pokemon? Glaseado Mountain has stuff like Beartic and Avalugg." Florian chimed in.
A few minutes later Mr. Hassel would walk in and greet his class. "Good morning class!" He said as he made his way to his desk, preparing his papers before the bell rang. Two minutes later it would ring and he would move over to the door and shut said door. "So class, I have a question for you. Who can tell me what two species of Pokemon are known to create their own artwork?"

Two minutes later it would ring and he would move over to the door and shut said door. "So class, I have a question for you. Who can tell me what two species of Pokemon are known to create their own artwork?" “Oh uh…I had something custom made from home. I didn’t need really all that much on it.” Tristen said to Penny. He would skirt the details on it, because not only he didn’t really know all the tech jargon to spell out to Penny what it all had short of a good number of programs that were on it, he wasn’t all that sure he needed to tell her what was actually all about, like how it ran off of similar stuff Team Snagem uses for its SNAGs for example. He then looked over towards Nemona for a moment when she mentioned Glaseado Mountain, but then when Florian put his two cents in, Tristen couldn’t help but to sweatdrop a little bit. He was left to wonder if Nemona actually put the pressure on that fiercely with her Pokémon like that, even in a unevolved state. If so, he was almost left to wonder just how. It almost felt like insanity, even with the training regimens and such that he had his Pokémon do back at the headquarters, never mind the missions themselves. “Yeaaaah, uh, while I got no problem wanting to train some of my other Pokémon, I do want to focus on the smaller guys I got.” He said to them. “I’m hoping that I can actually get around to doing that at some point.” He then would perk up and come to attention when the teacher finally made his way in. When he addressed the class about the two Pokémon, Tristen instantly remembered back early when she and him started training Vivillion. Fela didn’t know anything about Smeargle, but she did inform him about Shroodle and its evolution, Grafaiai, which were poison types. While he hasn’t seen a Grafaiai yet, he knew of the Shroodle at least, having battled it. If it wasn’t for that battle, he probably wouldn’t have chanced answering that, only having known of Smeargle. Tristen would raise his hand to the teacher and once the teacher would address him, he’d answer. “Grafaiai and Smeargle, Mr. Hassell.” Tristen stated to the art teacher.

"Very good, mister Tristen. Grafaiai and Smeargle. Thank you very much." Mr. Hassel said as he pointed at Tristen, giving the boy a small clap as he answered correctly before taking out two Pokeballs from underneath his desk. "I have exactly those two species of Pokemon with me right now, borrowed from the Medali Gym. For today's project we're going to observe these two Pokemon paint and I want you to try and imitate one of them the best you can. Pay close attention to their art styles as well, they are very different. So before we say hello to our painting Pokemon I want all of you to pick up a canvas from the back of the room, some brushes and some paints and prepare your work stations. Go on now." He said, waving the students off to get ready.
Once everyone had got their items and set them out, canvases on their stands, Mr. Hassel would move onto the next portion. "Alright then, everyone ready? Good. Please say hello to, from Medali Gym, Grafaiai and Smeargle." With that said the teacher would press the button on front of either ball releasing the promised Pokemon, both of them materializing on the floor on either side of the desk in front of the extra large canvases he had set up for the Pokemon.
"Smear!" The Painter Pokemon declared.
"Faiai!" The Toxic Monkey chimed in as well.
"Okay my friends, you know the drill. Show the class your muse!" Mr. Hassel said and with a clap of his hands the Pokemon would immediately turn to their canvases and begin to work. Smeargle would immediately go about painting with the green paint from its tail while Grafaiai first began to munch on some berries provided for it before sticking its finger in its mouth to get its 'paint'.
A good fifteen minutes would pass before Mr. Hassel would speak to the class again, all his students busily painting. "Who can tell me the difference between the art style of these two Pokemon? Mr. Tristen? How about you? You answered well last time."

Tristen listened to the teacher, and when instructed to get the materials from the back of the room, Tristen would do as directed, getting a canvas, the paints, and the brushes. Once he was back and ready to go, he would watch as Mr. Hassell send out the Grafaiai and Smeargle out into the classroom, where suddenly it dawned on Tristen as to what Mr. Hassell was implying, and suddenly felt as a loss. They had actual styles? As far as he knew, they’d perhaps have just about the same style as Tristen himself. That was to say, none at all. Just perhaps slap paint on the canvas and hope something came of it. He already had a hard time trying to just draw a picture with a pencil on paper to make it something discernable. He wasn’t sure if adding color, let alone using different items, was going to change anything. If he had to guess? It was probably going to be worse. But he had to try anyways.
Tristen started trying to paint whatever he could. He’d figure he’d try his hand at trying to paint the two Pokémon that were painting. Which that was easier said than done. He didn’t exactly have the colors of either Smeargle and Grafaiai. If he had to guess, he had to mix the paints he did have to get there and while he did have some basic understanding of how colors worked, like red and blue made purple just as blue and yellow made green, it started to fall off there. Like the light tan tent that primarily made a Smeargle’s fur coat, only accompanied by the brown stripes around its wrists and ankles, never mind its ears. The Grafaiai was even harder with its fur coat and its multiple hues, and what do you even call the color of its eyes? Was that even a green?
When Mr. Hassell addressed him again, he was caught off guard. Tristen looked towards the two Pokémon and couldn’t help but to shake his head. “Uh, I…don’t know…” Tristen sheepishly said. “I mean, Smeargle seems to have a larger brush than the Grafaiai’s finger, so it makes for a lot thicker lines, and also Smeargle is kinda stuck at one color because of the fluid that comes from its tail. So, I guess, Smeargle’s style is a lot simpler than what Grafaiai can do? Where Grafaiai can pick its colors from the berries that it uses and makes more narrower lines, so it has a lot more freedom to do what it wants to do?” Tristen really didn’t know what else to say about it; it honestly felt like a trick question in some regards.

"That is an excellent observation, mister Tristen, thank you." Mr. Hassel said to Tristen, giving the boy a smile before turning his attention to the class at large. "It is true that Smeargle only utilizes a single color, the color of the liquid that secretes from their tail at birth while Grafaiai makes their own paints from the berries they eat. The thickness of their tools, if you will, is also a factor in their art. However another distinct difference is Smeargle prefers to make distinct shapes and symbols, of which there are over five thousand different marks recorded. Smeargle are more purposeful in their brush strokes, that is to say, thought to be a result of their limited color. Grafaiai on the other hand create far more abstract art, preferring lines and rings of different colors rather than making any sort of distinctive symbol. The other difference between the two is in the wild Smeargle use their art to mark territory and convey messages while for Grafaiai it's not just to mark territory but also as a hunting method to trap Bug Pokemon prey." Mr. Hassel explained as he continued to walk through the room.
"Now, why are we talking about this? Because it's an excellent example of how art can have more than one purpose. Some art is to illicit emotion in the viewer, good or bad. Other art can have greater utility, like getting one's attention to warn them of danger, like a skull and cross bones. Art has many uses and is all around us in places you might not expect. So for the rest of class I want you all to work on your Smeargle and Grafaifai works and reflect on the different ways art can be utilized. For your homework I want you all to find an example of art in your every day surroundings being used for something other than just being pretty or interesting, something as simple as a stop sign for an example. Take a picture of it with your Rotom phone, if you have one, and post it in my class homework channel on the school's Porycord with a short description on why it's art. If you do not have a phone I'll accept a written report on what you wish to define as art in every day life. I will grade you on what you pick and how well you convince me it's art." With that said he returned to the front of the class and sat down behind his desk for the rest of the period.
Eventually the bell would ring and Mr. Hassel would dismiss everyone, asking them to leave their paintings where they were and he would collect them. It was time for second period.

SubonicXP Eventually the bell would ring and Mr. Hassel would dismiss everyone, asking them to leave their paintings where they were and he would collect them. It was time for second period. Well, the answer wasn’t a wash, much to the relief of Tristen. The one thing that he had to give it to Mr. Hassell, he was doing quite well opening Tristen’s eyes to the things that he was missing out on. He never really had thought about art being used for other uses other than just expressing one’s self. It left him to wonder a little bit as to the pictures he saw his adoptive father just merely draw for the fun of it. It seemed like it was things that he liked or loved, like his Pokémon, Freth, or even Tristen himself. But there didn’t seem to be any use to those pictures beyond just…making it. Or was that the wrong way to looking at it? Maybe there didn’t need to always be a reason to do that. Even so, Tristen and the class would be given an assignment: he had to take a picture of art. Any kind of art. Get a picture and convince Mr. Hassell the subject matter in question is in fact art. Tristen realized he had to consider it a little bit. Maybe he could take another walk about Mezagoza and figure it out. Seemed like the town had all manner of answers to his art class, oddly enough. The class would go on through and Tristen would try his best on the picture in question and once it came to time for the bell to ring, Tristen stared at his canvas and sighed for a moment, a little dismayed at his work. Yea, this seemed to be worse than his drawings earlier this week. The color felt all wrong to him, the proportions were off as much as the color felt off, could even one tell that it was Smeargle and Grafaiai? He honestly tried, but this whole thing was still well beyond his skill set. Tristen would gather his own things, leaving the painting for Mr. Hassell to collect, taking another look at his painting that he wasn’t all too happy with before taking his way off out of the class room and making his way to Mr. Sanguaro’s Home Ec class.

Tristen would find himself in Home Ec, walking into the room and seeing the place half full as students were still filling in. He did see Gloria though, without her pig out, who was sat in the very front of the class right in front of the teacher's desk, the girl shooting Tristen an angry and dirty look as he walked in, whipping her head away from him as she huffed and folded her arms. Think she knew he said something?
The boy would have time to sit down and get comfortable before Matteo came in, passing Gloria at the front and giving her a happy little wave while she pretended not to see him but it was very clear she did by how red her face was getting. The boy would almost prance over to Tristen and sit down at their work station with a happy sigh. "Hey Tristen! Nice day, isn't it?" He said with a chuckle.

The boy would almost prance over to Tristen and sit down at their work station with a happy sigh. "Hey Tristen! Nice day, isn't it?" He said with a chuckle. Tristen made his way down the halls once more and eventually found his way into the home ec class room. As he walked on by, Gloria didn’t escape his notice as she practically glared a hole into him. The problem was for Gloria, Tristen didn’t care and wasn’t going to antagonize her any more than what he passively did by telling Mr. Salvatore. He was fairly confident that she knew he put the teachers against her, and rightfully so, but really? What was she going to do? She played with electricity. She got shocked. And she’ll get shocked again, and again, and again, until she stopped. In the meantime, he was going to let her stew in her resentment. As he put his things down and got ready for the class, he perked up seeing Matteo make his way in. Unlike Tristen, however, Matteo was going to relish in it as best as he could. During the exchange between Mr. Jacq and Gloria during Homeroom, Matteo knew the teachers had eyes on her now, and perhaps at this point, didn’t care as to how or why, and he was going to be petty. Probably rightfully so as well, but unfortunately, the Growlithe hybrid was going to need to reign it in sooner than later before this whole thing backfires in his face. And probably Tristen too since he ended up starting this. “Hey Matteo.” Tristen said to him. “Yea, pretty nice day. What’s up?” he said as he finished getting what he needed out for the class to come.

"Oh not much, just another day of learning, right?" Matteo said as he leaned back in his chair, Gloria and himself locking eyes for a brief second causing Matteo to wave out her. The girl promptly turned back away. "So, was it you?" Matteo asked Tristen as he sat up straight in his chair again. "Did you tell one of the teachers about Gloria?" He asked, now looking at the other boy. "Because you didn't need to do that, I can handle her myself." He said with a slight grimace, looking away from Tristen. "But still...thanks." He said, letting out a sigh and returning his gaze to Tristen. "I mean, thank you."

Tristen glanced only for a brief second towards Gloria before looking back towards Matteo. “Yea…” He spoke up a bit lower, as to keep the conversation between him and Matteo. “…able to handle her or not, I figured that there had to be a stop sooner than later. Though, Matteo, I know you might want to make fun of her for it and all now, but really? You got to stop too, otherwise, it’d not only probably make me look bad since I stepped in on it, but also blow up in your face, basically getting Gloria back started all over again and probably for worse.” He told him. “Like I said yesterday, you got better things to do than to worry about her…like for instance…” He hesitated a moment, trying to come up with more enlightening topics until one finally came to mind. “Tomorrow. What time did you want to meet up and where?” he then asked him, looking forward to the whole excursion out tomorrow. “I figure to ask now instead of lunch because I would think Nemona would try to butt in on it if she knew what we were going to do.”

"Yeah yeah, I know. I'm really trying but man does she get on my nerves some times..." Matteo responded to Tristen as he glanced over at Gloria, realizing what he was doing in that moment and quickly looked away. He wanted to be better, had to be. "Oh yeah! Tomorrow! Yeah how about we meet up at the Pokemon Center just inside the eastern gate of Mesagoza? As good of a place as any." Matteo offered. "Smart bringing it up now, Nemona can get frustrating some times." The boy sighed.
It was shortly after that when the teacher walked in, Mr. Saguaro coming in with a large basket of assorted berries. The man would proceed to go around the room without a word with the basket, passing out a single berry to each student, the bell ringing as he did. Tristen would receive an Aspear Berry and Matteo a Persim. What was this about?
Once the teacher was done passing out the berries he would return to the front of the class and set his basket done before finally addressing the class. "I will call on you one at a time and when I do I want you to stand up and tell me what kind of berry I gave you, what its flavor profile is, any special trait or use it has, and any other extra information about the berry you know. Gloria, you're first." Mr. Saguaro said as he immediately locked onto the girl. The pig owner would grumble as she stood up and said she had a Chesto Berry, that it a dry berry that could be used to cure sleep in Pokemon and in some regions they call it a Mint Berry. The teacher would give her a small clap and thank her before moving onto the next student.
In time he would get to Tristen, looking towards the young hybrid and addressing him. "Tristen? You're next."

What time do you-“ He ended up stopping when he noticed the teacher make his way in with the large basket. “Uh…we’ll talk more later.” Tristen would sit, keeping attention to the teacher, wondering what was the lesson for today. Before he knew it, the teacher would pass out a berry to each of the students, Tristen getting the Aspear berry in confusion, then seeing Matteo with the Perism. Were we to make something using these berries? But just a mere two berries? Really? This was weird. Then the teacher would ask the students to identify anything about they knew of the berry. Well…that didn’t seem hard at all. The teacher would start going down the students, having them to identify the berries they had, some would give out more info than others. Tristen would eventually get called and once he did, he’d make his way up and start giving the look over before addressing the teacher and the class in general. He knew what this berry was and even though it wasn’t one that he used really all that much, he knew enough. “So, this berry is an Aspear Berry, sometimes known as the Burnt berry. These berries are known to help Pokémon overcome frostbite or, worse case, being completely frozen. They are probably some of the more common berries along side say Oran, Cheri Berries, Pechas, since they tend to grow like weeds and because of that they are looked for when trainers are needing an immediate, never mind, cheaper fix than say a Full Heal or even an Ice Heal. They have a pretty hard skin to chew through but they’re really juicy on the inside, but the juice is pretty sour, so some Pokémon might not care for it that much regardless if they’re needing a frost fix or not.” Tristen explained.

Mr. Saguaro would stare at Tristen with slight surprise as the boy went on, the teacher giving him applause once he was finished. "Thank you very much, mister Tristen! You sure are knowledgeable." He complimented Tristen. Gloria would look back in that same moment and grimaced. Matteo gave him a thumb's up. "What about you, mister Matteo? Your berry?" The man said as he turned to the boy sitting next to Tristen, the Growlithe hybrid grabbing his berry and standing up. Gloria would turn away in that same moment and not look back.
"Oh uh...it's a...Persim Berry? Yeah, Persim Berry." Matteo stared, at first seemingly unsure of what he had. "It's uh...not bitter, I guess? It's very pink. I think it's used to cure...confusion?" Matteo said, unsure of much about this berry.
"I guess you should eat it then." Gloria spoke up, Mr. Saguaro immediately spinning around to glare at the girl, clearing his throat to get her to turn around and see he was glaring at her. She immediately sunk into her seat and turned back away. That was definitely a moment of speaking before she thought.
"...thank you, mister Matteo, you may sit." The teacher said as he turned back to Matteo and then the rest of the class, resuming going around and asking about their berries. Once he was done he would return to the class. "So class, I'm sure you're trying to figure out what the deal is with the berries and now I will tell you. For the rest of this month we'll be focusing on berries and all their uses. From food to Pokemon training and battling they have numerous uses. The berries I gave you were nothing more than a gift from me to you. If you'd like you may eat them, otherwise do what you wish. So with that said let's recap some of what we heard about berries."
With that Mr. Saguaro would turn to the board and bring up images of berries or sentences describing unknown berries. He would then ask the class things like 'what is this berry called' or 'what berry is this sentence describing'. He would then move onto asking questions on what berry would be useful in what situation, like if a Pokemon got hit by a Fighting move what berry could mitigate some of the damage or if a Pokemon was paralyzed what two berries could heal it and then if you wanted to make a sweet treat what were some good berries to use. The entire hour would prove to be all about berries.
Eventually the bell would ring and the teacher would dismiss them but not before informing them that next time they'll be making poffins, giving them all something to look forward to. With that class was let out to lunch with Gloria before forced to stay behind by Mr. Saguaro, shooting Matteo a glare as he left. This was never going to end apparently.
