Well, I guess I got my resolution. There is an end after all, and I've reached it. Tim looked like something was bothering him the past couple of days, so I asked him, and eventually he told me: "I'm bad at a lot of things I should be better at. Like understanding emotions. I'm about as squared away as a circle when it comes to talking to girls I might like."

Thus began an entire discussion about circles and squares and octagons and whether a circle should try to present itself as someone with corners or just embrace its circle-ness, and in the end I ended up giving advice about girls (well, sorta, it was all actually very gender-neutral because I'm pretty sure I know who said girl is and she's pretty down-to-earth) to the guy that I like. But he's first and foremost my friend, so what else am I supposed to do if not support him?

So this is definitely the fourth time this has happened to me. I guess in some ways that's a good thing, it hurts a little less each time because I almost come to expect it.

I guess that's what happens when you reject a lot of the assumed signs of femininity and don't wear makeup, or ever get all giggly, or hate touching people (seriously, why are girls so huggy sometimes?), and sit in the dorm on a Friday night when other people are partying and watch the original three Star Wars movies with six guys. When you can quote Spock, have A New Hope practically memorized, can shout "Nedin dagor hen ú-'erir ortheri. Natha daged dhaer!" and know what that means, even if you wear a skirt a good portion of the time, you've pretty much become one of the guys.

(Seriously, I nearly died laughing when one guy and I had a very loud reenactment of the scene between Aragorn and Legolas on the Quad. Just to add, when you make a bow out of a drill rifle and a bungee cord... once again, pretty much one of the guys.)
