*Tavin walks in from the library with a book in his hand. As he walks over across the room to a far table he stops in front of Sir Dafyd's sword. Absentmindedly he slips the tip of his shoe underneath the blade and kicks it into the air, catching the hilt with his empty hand. He then continues over to the table and sits down, laying the sword next to him on the table, and flips to the next page of his book*

*Bard and Luke enter the main room*
... I really hope so it any rate.... who knows how long he'd been bleeding like that before he showed up here....
*Bard notices Tavin sitting at the table*

*Tavin looks up, bewildered, but seeing who it is, he grins instead, standing up*
Bard! Luke!
Uhm......
*Tavin scratches his head a moment and then pulls the sword off the table, holding it out to them hilt down, blade pointed to the floor*
Did... one of you drop your sword?

*Luke looks at Bard, then back at Tavin.* Not ours. That belongs to Sir David ... Something or other. He came in here, bleeding all over himself. He thinks we're on his side, so that's a start.
*Luke smirks a little.* I keep all my bloody battle swords at home.

We just put him to bed in Maggie's room. Maggie stitched him up as best as she could, however, he lost quite a lot of blood.
*Bard considers a moment*
It might be good if Cora takes a look at him when she can. Have you seen her recently?

She brought in a needle and thread to stitch him up. Then she brought in some clean rags .... and a stretcher.
Then, it was too much. She just about passed out.
*looks to Bard* She's alright though, right?

Primitive... it doesn't look anything like the swords you see in movies and catalogs....

Things are very rarely like they appear to be in fiction. That's what makes fiction so fascinating, though. The ability to make such ugly things like death and war somehow... glamorous.
*Tavin frowns at this thought*
In the end, though, a tool is a tool no matter how finely crafted or intricately decorated it may be. It's meant to carry out its function.
*Tavin blinks, pulling himself back together and grins at the two*

*Luke kicks it back like a trooper. When Bard gives him a look, Luke shrugs.* I didn't let that wounded soldier just sit there. I wasn't gonna let this one either.
*Luke looks at the empty bottle and says to Tavin.* I'll have a beer.

*Bard sighs at Luke* ...I'll have a martini...
*he hesitates for a moment and then picks up the sword. He notices to things instantly. The quality of the metal is extremely poor: little better than raw iron. The balance of the sword, however, is extremely precise. Whoever made it didn't know much about metallurgy, but they knew a lot about weapons*

*Tavin digs under the counter and pulls out a beer and a martini glass. The glass fills itself, and Tavin drops in a green olive on a toothpick and nods to Bard, holding it out to him*
Luke, here's your beer. Have at it.
*Tavin makes no motion to hand the beer to Luke*
