I'm so confident in the impartial judging now.

The Female of the Species Slash Zinrai Or they won't, and just give the win to whomever they have the most maximum bro-rection for. Basically this. Even if said in jest; This happens a LOT more than most judges care to admit. CAUSE THEY IS DA LAW, or whatever...

Slash Zinrai Even if said in jest; This happens a LOT more than most judges care to admit. CAUSE THEY IS DA LAW, or whatever... Actually, nah. Over the past couple years it's been a lot better. Besides a few cases where someone clearly didn't care about it being known the slight edge people had because of favoritism has been pretty subtle if there at all. Grading is still stupid because the method of grading is so very flawed, but hey.

Grading is still stupid because the method of grading is so very flawed, but hey. Not to be confrontational, or insensitive, but if you have ever acted in a judge capacity...and you can say that it's gotten better...then you are either naive, or directly guilty of it. Being able to admit that; Yeah, it is a problem, but I try to keep in mind that I'm human and prone to bias...Means that you are more uniquely equipt to avoid showing favoritism. Where-as, if you are convinced of your utter lack of personal preference...believing yourself to be above reproach, and therefore beyond mistake...then it's pretty much a guaranteed thing that you're feelings are pulling you around like a fish snagged on a line. Actually feeling the above; And just joking around about it (like Hael oft does)...Totally different things. Having a healthy sense of humor is perfectly fine.

Actually feeling the above; And just joking around about it (like Hael oft does)...Totally different things. Having a healthy sense of humor is perfectly fine. Having acted in a judge capacity, I can say I'm guilty to neither. Of course, I was also in a position to develop a rubric that was significantly more objective than what 99% of anyone around here has offered before. That helped a lot. How much personal bias influences grading has unquestionably declined though. Compared to one year where judges were superficially adding decimals to scores, where there was no precedent or clear method of awarding such, just to edge out their friends in otherwise tough situations. It doesn't happen like that any more, at least not in the bigger competitions. Really, the only person I'm even worried about judging is Vintrict since in the past he's shown that he clearly doesn't care about what the people around him think and he's purposely thrown fights out of spite despite what everybody else in the community thought. I think a lot of us are just overly-sensitive and get hurt feelings because we think we're better than what we really are. Just saying though.

I kind of regret stepping down from judging because I am enjoying most of these fights.
Also Abe I thought you had a job to interview for, I am only filling your mantle while you are gone.
