"Rescuing yu from other drow, sure. recusing you from wild pigs, a swamp mire, a crocodile cavern, a swarm of bats, and the camel intent on eatting your hair? not so much."

Yes indeed, Malik and Piper had been around. of course you do get around, in twenty years.

"and yes, she does have her ways. some of which almost got that collar jerked becuase she forgot where she was. like the middle of Neriak market."

Onyx looked at hi brother, set his jaw.

"Stolen slave, actually. and that's not what I ment by mine. She was..a human counterpart. you coudl see it. she talked tough, was willing to back it up. She's a fighter, like me. enjoys a good round or two. I coudl probably spend days in an arena with her just tusseling around and we'd both have a good time. that's what I ment."

Sure it was. not 'she's mine' as in 'I want her for my very own just to have her'.

"And she's been taken. that captian stole what was already stolen by be. and I want her back. preferably over his or warhammer's dead body. fi nothign else she someone I can relate to on teh fighting side without getting your looks of utter boredom."

"Moonstone is not as forthgoing into battle as his twin then. Many good warriors don't partake in competition becuase the real test is a true battle. no rules or regulations there."

Then a chuckle at his daughter, mussing her hair, and handing her the other emblem.

"there. that's for Moonstone. get his necklace done and we'll go back ot them and give them these before we get you to a place I know for sure is safe."
PostPosted: Tue Sep 27, 2005 7:04 pm

"The camel was your fault remember? You're the one who suggested I get my dye from berries...not only did it cause the camel trying to eat my hair, but also stained my hands for three weeks...and you know that well too." Oh yes, that had been quite the fiasco. Her hands were indeed red for three weeks and Malik had bore a dark spot of a deep purple hand print on his forearm and his neck where it was visible, where she purposefully grabbed him. Oh the shouting over that one. But as with everything they got into, it was indeed funny in retrospect.

Kieran could only give a laugh. Indeed the two were very refreshing to be around...nice to see it after so long really. "Fiery little Pip...always knew red was her favorite color for a reason, shows her personality perfectly." A thoughtful look to his daughter. "You and I are going to have to talk later...the world of the drow through the eyes of a surface elf. Bet that would make quite the good study."

Moonstone was a tad taken aback, not expecting this level of depth from his brother.

"If she's a girl who likes her fights, then let her fight her way out, Onyx. SHe amy or may not appreciated you comming to get her. You're right, she doesn't look like a weak girl. She probably likes taking control herself and finding her own way out." Gently, he laid a hand on his brother's shoulder. "If she'd anything like you, she won't forget what you've already done for her."

"Moonstone is really nice!" She fixed her hair, cause the mess up had skewed her clips again. "Silly Daddy."

She strung the stone on and ties the last knot, held it up like a trophy. "Ta dah!" Another giggle. "Where are we gonna go, Daddy? They found us at home before, so where are we gonna go?"

Warhammer waited in the inner sactum of the Dwarven Elite. A group of disident dwarves, and one elf, who vowed to upheave the unjust and proud family that dominated this land. The leader of the Dwarven Elite was a sturdy fellow simply called Shield. He would not bare any other name until the evil tyranny was toppled and a more just if not more compident leader was placed at the top of the heirarchy, with perhaps, an elite comprised of dwarves... Mostly, Shield wanted an nice quiet place to live, with little responsibility and maximum pleasure, in other words, he wanted to be back in the mines, which were now domineered by Dmtree's work hounds.

Shield just wanted what every good self respecting dwarf wanted. A dwarven kingdom.

He was forcing Warhammer to wait, hoping to show the minotaur who was really in charge of this opperation, but the bull hardly cared. The bull only wished to please Tarathiel, who needed the Dwarven Elite to carve a hole into D'Mitri's walls. A big hole.

The single elf in the dwarven elite, a scrany fellow with cresent shaped glasses, walked out first to meet with Warhammer. If the elf noded his ok, the rest of the councile would come out and join them. The elf, was a tester. The elf was expendable, he was, an elf after all... Elves were genetically inferior to dwarves.

Warhammer nodded to the elf, and the elf nodded to the dwarves, then everyone was present in the inner sanctum.

"Our mutual friend wishes me to aid you in your valient struggle to find a home." Warhammer said calmly. "He wishes that my skills and strength might aid you in the toppling of the walls... And, our unknowing and unwiting allies will be ready to charge, inimiately."

"Good." Said Shield with a rather robust voice, a thick accent mumbled the words into sound very similar to something galic. "We strike as soon as the meat puppies attack. The walls will not stand where we strike... But, I do have one concern... what are we going to do with them when the battle is over?"

"Let them loose in the forests. They only wish to be left alone, other that our mutual friend trusts leads them with the same awe inspiring courage as you lead your people." The minotaur straightened his back, "Do not underestimate them, but do not fear them. Tames is brave, and yet, he is small."

Aella sat with Jiscal and Dagger inside the innermost walls of Deep Water. The silence had been crackling with annoyence for a little while now. She hadn't even said hello, hadn't introduced herself, though of course they knew who she was by the manner of her arrival. Magiclly that was.

Whirlwind hadn't been able to unloack her cocked jaw loang enough to say anything. Then man inspired utter hatred almost as easily as the king had.

She sat and waited for the singal to get moving.

Onyx shrugged his brother's hand of lightly, not in a mean or leave me alone gesture, but more of a your hand is getting heavy, type motion. like a child hanigng on an adult type feeling.

"She can fight. I know she can. but I also know that the Captian's darts work on her. that while she is a fighter she's unarmed in a ship full of drow and at least one of them, that Warhammer, has magics like father. It's not a fight I think she coudl win on her own. and I owe her that much, to come after her, to keep my word."

Malik looked between father and daughter.

"and you and I, Keiran..shoudl probably talk more about this 'communion' ritual. it's unfamiliar to me..and I woudl think that while Piper might know how it works..it's proabably a subject mostly kept to parent and child. however since my father is long dead, and well..he wouldn't know what it is either..you're the best option I have for learning what this is about nad how it works."

Simon looked as his daughter with a small smile.

"Sometimes, little Bode. the best place to hide is in plain sight, among your enemies. we can hide near here, aroudn the fortress. no one will look for us near Malik and Piper. and you want to give those necklaces to your feline brothers, don't you?"

Moonstone smiled a little, though his brother couldn't see it. It was almost romantic, wasn't it? He wouldn't say it though, he was just going to keep quite.

He was not offended by the shrugging, he understoof well enough.

"They were Drow darts. They are sophisticated and difficult to resist. Even you and I would be hard pressed with them. Plus, there are many people down here how can manipuulate magic, perhaps she can and just enver had a chance to use it." She shrugged. "Wait until after the upcomming battle. First we keep one promis by protecting Bode, then you can keep the other and go look for Whirlwind."

Bode listened with a little look of awe on her face. "They won't look for us here? Even though they wanted me as a slave too? Wow Daddy!" She smield then. "I sure am happy your back, Daddy. I missed you something feirce!" She jumped over and hugged him again.

"I wanna stay near my brothers too! They are so good and taking care of me!"

"The coming battle. I wish it would get here already. This waiting around for it is maddening. Everyday, every hour you wonder if they are coming. and if so..are they on teh way yet? is it a force so large that it has to move this slow to stay together? what's going on."

He looked back out the window.

"I look forward to shedding the blood of Dimitri's military. he used us, hoping to get us killed. and nto to mention he does owe us money, doesn't he. I wanna bite the hand that tried to use me."

Simon nodded lightly.

"Yes. if you and your brothers are correct, Piper is not the woman I knew. and we should be safe there. at least through the battle. Then we cna see what happens. but as for now, lets go there, you need to give those to the Vah, don't you."

A smile to her, and a kiss on her cheek, picking her up and carriyng her to a place he had never thought he'd willing go into, Triumverate Fortress.

"It will be here soon enough, you just wait. Then kill a few people...okay more like alot of people, then you can be on your way. the sooner we are out of this battel the better...fopr everybody." Yes, it was taking them a long time, why was that?
That Dimirti...he's paranpid."

She giggled. "Mrs. Piper is suuper nice!" She picked her up, and she slung the necklaces over her wrists, so that she wouldn't lose them. "They'll be so happy! They thought you were gonna really hurt them, cuase you wouldn't know whoe they were. Daddy! Yo have sons! Like you always wanted! And I have brothers! WE are a family again!"
PostPosted: Wed Sep 28, 2005 7:14 pm

A pat to Piper's head. Indeed it is such a subject really. But I'm be more than happy to teach you the finer aspects. After all...it's a delicate thing and there can be many boundaries that can prevent it. A lot of concentration and a lot of hard mental work really. But the end result is quite worth it." A thoughtful look with a grin, for a moment in his own nostalgia. Ah yes...elven communion, affirmation of a firmed bond and the sharing of one's whole self...quite the worth wile experience indeed.

It...was cute. Really it was. Though she had to admit she was quite surprised at how Malik acted around her father. He was free in his own actions and speech much like he was around only her. And all he had to go on was a word that said Kieran was her father. Seemed Piper had broken some other habits of his too...of course excluding the punching earlier, but everyone made a slip up. Piper gave a soft laugh. "Hope you enjoy long lectures, love."

"Long Lecture's I can handle. and I thnk you're going to be getting your own long talk and I wouldn't doubt a lecture or two about this yourself."

A small grin, and a gesture to Keiran.

"Lead the way if you want to speak in an area other than the open arena..or should I be going to leave you and your daughter some time alone?"

Malik was indeed civil and at least pleseant aroudn her father. after all, the man was her family, and if there was something he knew about the surface elves, family was a very important thing. Keiran could and would, he was sure, stop thier wedding or communion in a heartbeat if he felt the need to. then a grin.

"Or are you thinking of testing your luck in a little spar against your daughter's intended?"

Kieran gave Malik a grin and shook his head, holding up a hand in a gesture of decline. "Now Malik...I've been punched by you. Forgive the lack of wanting to cross steel with you. Believe it or not, I can judge fairly well and I know a match when I see one." He'd like to stay with his pride intact...indeed, he knew Malik would be quite the opponent to face...never wanted to be on his bad side at all. "Come now, we aren't in children's classes, no need for separate lectures." And he turned, gesturing them to follow.

"He just wants me to regale him with stories of how a drow looks and responds around a surface elf. Even I've gotten closer to the drow than he ever has...and I'm sure he'll tire me out with questions." A tug at him, following after her father which would lead them to the dining room, where her father was already sitting at the table...seemed he had taken a liking to the room. Hm...a learning lecture from father...ah nostalgia.

Malik followed after Piper, chuckling lightly.

"He does know that the way they treat a slave and the way they might treat a regular surface elf is different, right?"

But he obliged, taking a seat across from Keiran, and next to Piper, folding his hands together on the table, interested in what kinds of questions he woudl ask, and what he woudl tell him about this communion, though he waited to see which subject Kerian was going to address first. more than likely the questioning of his daughter about Neriak.

Sitting at a table in the main cabin, Tarathiel looked at what appeared to be a chess board. The thing about chess was that the game itself was not that complex nor was it unique to any one society. The war games to train thought and cordination were common amongst many of the realms, and there was only so many ways that one could desine the game in such a primative form. On this perticular board, the rules seemed to be ignored, pawns and bishops littered the board in specific places, a queen was placed next to the opposing king, and several rocks were right outside that kings front door.

Of course, this was just a physical representation of the current fense of the warmongers plans. the queen was Aella's unit, the rocks were Warhammer and Aven, and most of the pawns were rebels and disidents enrolled form the local population... Having the owner of a brothel on your side certainly gave you certian insight into the population, and any will participants in a coup, especially if they would feel that there was more to gain from defeating Demitri, than keeping him alive...

The problem was, Tarathiel was not being malicious enough. He was no longer interested in a prolonged engagement, and more of a one night coup de grace of the king. It would be workable, and the loses would not be so herendous on the citizens side of the battle...

The drow elf almost spat on the table, would not starving soldiers surrender with less of a fight? Would not the diseased infrastructure collapse in on itself, causing the king to be traped in a dying city...

No, Tarathiel could not be himself, he had to distance himself from Kimmuriel. Tarathiel had to be more like Tarathiel, and less like Kimmuriel.

The wizards and Sstrl could see the frustration on his face.

"Should we not use Malik yet?"

"No, If they attack now, the defense of Malik's keep would be waiting for them... The battle would be quick, and I think a sound retreat would not soot us yet..."

Sstrl wasn't buying the excuse. "What are you waiting for?"

"The right moment. I can't just force D'Mitri to move..."

"Yessss, Yessss you can." Sstrl smiled, "We know what to tell who to have the kingdom emptied of the valuable guards."

"I think the D'Mitri would leave too, and we cannot keep the castle without him dead, so we will have to give him reason to stay indoors..."

Sstrl purred, for lack of a better description of the noise.

"Orko, form five strike teams of three drow warriors each. Those fifteen are to go after the third through eigth high ranking soldiers. This will cause D'Mitri to realise that something is definately wrong within his kingdom, if so many of his most loyal supporters die in one night... No, that will not due either, as alerting him to our intentions would only cause him to go into hiding..."

"Ssso what are we left with?" Sstrl asked. Non of the Dorw owould dare as Tarathiel anything, should they earn his disfavour and find themselves dead. Sstrl was expendable, and should he be killed, Jin would be brought, and with him dead, then Orko. Orko being human had one disadvantage when dealing with the other wizards on board, he was non drow. Something that got most non drow killed in such close quaters rather quickly. But, Orko was a very malicious human, with a taste for power that rivialed that of the drow. They were impressed, so he would be the last meat shield. Each wizard used the non drow to ask his questons, a sort of game that Tarathiel seeemd to enjoy.

"I think we will wait a short time, make a few more minute maneaovers, and then strike one, final devistating blow... We need a larger foot hole in Lostagrace to ensure we have the necessary fauder to take the arrows of the kings archers, I would not wish for Drow blood to be spilled on this night of victory..." Tarathiel paused and smiled maliciously, re-enforcing his drowish heratiage on the wizards, "A grand sacrifice to her." He was bluffing, he was doing this to find a challenge, or some amusement amongst the lesser races that he would never enjoy in his home nation...

A place he never wished to return to...

Piper shook her head...Kieran was much more well versed in the ways and mannerisms of the drow than he actually let on. He had a quiet way of going about things, not giving you too much information if he felt that you didn't deserve it.

And Kieran suddenly looked very much the scholar he was. Though he always did when he lectured...of course he could also look down right tyrannical when he wanted. "So...first things first...this elven communion business. I guessed you weren't well versed in it...more of a surface elf thing I guess. Requires quite the among of trust to one another and well...drow don't easily trust, but that aside..." He paused, looking in another direction as if something drew his attention, but there was nothing there, then back to them. A point to Piper...he often did his lecturing like this...cut time on his babble. "Tell me Pip, how is it conducted? Give me a framework."

Ah crap he was going to play it like that. But holding back a sigh she thought about it a moment."Well, being fully willing, two elves sit facing each other, and lightly touch palm to palm, finger to finger. They open their minds to each other, freely and completely joining together. A sharing of spirits takes place in a way...feels like you're falling into the other. During communion, they explore all the facets of the others' personality. The loves, hatreds, hopes, and fears. And they can even know the others' desires and needs, know how to fulfill such things." Right...that's what she remembered anyway.

Kieran watched her a moment, hands steeped together. "Always jumping into the thick of things. Yes, that's the essential part but you miss two main. For a communion to take place, those involved must be in a state of total realization, be in a place where they won't be disturbed easily and feel comfortable in. Also they must focus, only thinking on the other and free themselves of judgments and reservations against one another. Any of that in the way and communion will not take place. Thus comes in your part." A slight pause, tilting his head to the side and his gaze focusing off of them as if searching his mind. "Also...during communion you are completely physically defenseless." Let that sink into the drow mindset and see how it sat. Obvious why drow weren't so keen on it.
