And he was crying harder...crying never bothered Sevilin before...but his son's crying tore at his defenses and really got to the core of him where a rather compassionate innocent Sevilin still existed in some form or another. So he merely held the boy and let him cry, after all...what could he say to make it better? Well he knew one thing. "I'm sorry for yelling."

But then he was looking down into bright purple eyes as the boy was looking up at him. Oh there was a bad question. And Sevilin didn't particularly know the answer. "I...I don't know Zykariel. I really don't. I just don't want you to get your hopes up only to have them crushed." Setting the boy off his lap and in his bed. "Want to try and catch a quick reverie? It'll make you feel better."

Piper merely kept her mouth shut right now, because she knew she'd say something that would be really bad if she did say anything. Cedric's insinuations were not appreciated at all.

"It's okay. I just don't want to make you that upset anymore. I don't like it when you yell." Daddy's answer to his question didn't make him feel any better and in that moment he almost wondered if it was pointless to even hope. Daddy didn't seem to think it was going to happen and Daddy was a smart elf wasn't he? He just didn't understand why Zara didn't love him. Why wasn't his family like Malikhai's and if Zara never really was Llothian like Daddy and Malik both claimed then why wasn't she more like Piper? And why weren't his parents like Malikhai's parents? But he knew better than to voice such questions, they would only upset his father even more.

" 'Kay." He slowly kicked off his boots and crawled up to his pillow, turning down his blankets before climbing under them and snuggling in. "I love you Daddy. I'm sorry if I upset you, I really didn't mean too..."

"My House is in my control fully, don't think otherwise. But even the most paranoid tyrancial lord doesn't see everything all the time. rest assured I find someone overstepped a boundary, they won't be alive to try it twice. But this could have been a side affect of my recent expansions. I have had most of my magery, including Zahara, using thier powers to ensure strength and power. it is possible that a stray orc was inadverdently affected either thought blessed food or water, and this is simply the result."

Another smirk.

"I warned the Purians then, that thier tactics wouldn't last. eventually this woudl happen. it merely has happened much earlier than any might have anticipated. And part of me feels I lost out on a prime opportunity to crush the Purians and take thier land since they are so obstinant about my help."

another slight grin.

"Or..lets say i set this all up, not for land, but Warren. it's no secret that Warren is some kind of new power, an avatar to the 'earth father'. perhaps assaulting his family and people was a ruse to see how powerful Warren has become."

A shrug.

"One way or another...I garner the attention I need. I'm tired of this backalley backwater treatment. I am the power here. the Purians aren't. And wether Jiscal likes it or not, that is the case. And if you want, do remind him that I could raze his city just as Tarathiel coudl have. while I may not use hordes of Drow nad you rspecialized talents. I'll use every body ever buried in that place. and the Miasma alone when those long closed tombs open will be more than enough."

Making threats, of course.

"Jiscal will show me some dmaned respect, or I will take it."

Yup, he was the bad guy. The villian in the story and rather also so much like the latter half of his own name. And boy did it make him feel like s**t and several other nasty adjectives that he could think of. But he watched as his son crawled up into his bed and settled down, actually going through the normal rituals before reveries. He pet through the boy's hair, leaning over to press a kiss to his forehead. "I love you too Zykariel...and belive me, you didn't upset me. This is a grown up thing." Giving another pet to his hair, watching the boy close his eyes and drift off for the moment before getting up.

Yup, he felt like crap. A lot. Thus he took on his comfort zone of emotionless detachment. He walked his way downstairs, lacking any personality in him at the moment, didn't even look to Zahara as he passed the kitchen and more or less b-lined for his training room, slamming the door shut and rune locking it. Oh gods, he felt like he needed to cry...

Zahara didn't know how to feel. Zykariel had clearly been visible for thier fight and she didn't really know how that was affecting the boy and Sevilin had taken off after him and left her sitting there at the table, completely cut open to everything Sevilin had thrown at her. She didn't know how to respond to that, why did no one understand that she couldn't do it even if she wanted to? No one grasped this simple concept and here she was left with no idea what to do next. Sevilin slammed his way into his training room and she knew what that meant. It wasn't a good thing at all when he did that, menat he was going to push himself ot unattainable limits and leave all bloody and bruised. and what of Zykariel? A moment later she knew as she checked on the boy, he was soundly in reverie and seemed ot be alright. Except for the tearstains on his cheek. She leaned her head against the doorframe and sighed. "Eili help me..."

Cedric looked at Malik with a very surprised look. He did not know exactly how to say anything in response, he really could not see where any of this was coming from beyond Malik's perspective of the world. "So you have not left your keep in some time, and feel that everyone is plotting against you?" The coldness in Piper's stare began to take a strange understanding of this situation. "Suddenly the cloud about your keep is lifted, and I can see you more clearly. Your fear is driving you mad with anticipation. Instead of promoting harmony, you wish to simply drive a spear into your fears and flush out those you see as troublesome and interfering. You march your soldiers about your property, and display your vast collections of magic for the world to see, hoping to scare your enemies into submission. You wish to be feared by all, and respected for the power you hold. Is it maddening, feeling that no one fears you, and thus provides athreat to your health?" A hypothetical question.

"You make yourself live in a very dark world, because you do not wish to live in harmony with others. You wish to master them, control them, bend them to your will."

"The only thing that seperates you from Kimmuriel, is that he would make his will their will; and thus, gain mastery and control over them. You share ambition, paranoia, and self-rightiousness." Cedric did not seem to be too bothered by this revolation.

"You certainly loath living in other peoples shadows." He stated rather firmly. "Kimmuriel's shadow, Jiscal's shadow, the Purians' shadow... They all loom over you head, and make you feel inferior. That inferiority is unjustified, and you wish to correct it."

Malik got himself up.

"I live in no one's shadow. I hate humanity with a degree that you could only possibly even feel for the Drow. But you have 'moved' past that..haven't you."

yes, he was a bit angry now.

"That human, and his empire to be, should fear me. he should rightfully fear me..and if not fear me, at least respect me. But does he? no. My offers go unchecked or bothered with...or even worse, simply passed down to some lesser as if I was nothing but a commoner trying to impress him, and not a power in my own right trying to see if there are things that can be done between two kingdoms."

"But no. I'm not worth the attention, apparently. the Purians...they are much more important....nevermind if I wanted to I could destroy the entire population virtually overnight. and it's the same with them even. I offer help. military support, foods provided by a surface world. and all I asked in exchange was thier promise to be an ally only to me. and I was insulted as well as turned down, and looked on as if I was nothing to be concerned with."

"Well I will show them that I am not some little begger to ignored until you see fit to throw a scrap to. and if that means that I have to show power through a sword, than I will."

Oh he was not happy.

"and had Piper not tamed much of my darker heart in the past twenty years, the Purian Penninsula, with or without your damned help, woudl be nothing but smoldering ashes and corpses by now for thier arrogance, and I would be sitting behind Jiscal's throne while he did what i wanted him to. and he'd probably smell rather heavily of enbalming fluids."

"I'm getting very, very tired of my lands, my kingdom, and my house, being treated like the child at a grownups table. I flaunt my power to make them see that I have it, and mayeb they can respect that. But that's not working. Shall I try envoys? they get ignored. lets try personal attendance and discussion at the Ball, I get passed off to a lesser without a second thought."

A slight growl.

"I at least have the courtesy to address things myself. I could have just as easily thrown you aside at the very first statement you uttered. But I don't, becuase I show respect to the place you are from and thier concerns. While I have no love for humanity or it's kingdoms, I can at least show respect. go ahead and remind them of that."

"Eventually, if you ignore a child, he throws a tantrum to get your attention. if you they want to treat me like a child to ignore, they better be prepared for the tantrum I'm going to throw about it. and I'm not going to be the one screaming when it happens, either."

"You live in ignorance of the world. That ignorance will be your unmaking, as you will never strive to become enlightened."

"Jiscal placed your affairs in the hands of his Minsiter of Commerce. The minister looked for trading partners, but your choice in goods did not match any avaliable markets. You did not understand the people you were dealing with, because you did not try to understand them. The economy is not an instrument that you can simply decide at random."

"The cloak of Fear you have about you is actually your unmaking in your attempts for alliance. When I spoke with the Purians on the matter of your keep, the fear that you will cause a deliquiance to grow about their people. Recall the whole evening before you decide to focus on what YOU think is important. What impression did you create with your behaviour, your familia's behaviour? So, you want to take respect you have not earned, and you are willing to unmake King Jiscal and the Purains to get it? Then you will have to war with the Oracle, Prince Tarathiel, Dragnon, Ironforge Dwraves, who ally them selves closely with those you intend to harm. While you debate how and when you will be struck by Jiscal, he anticipates you to take the inative and attack him on your behest, simply because he understands your charcter so well."

"You are rather incompetent when it comes to diplomacy. You wear your intentions openly, and lack any subtlty to your speach. Everyone within a hundred miles knows Malik's aims and desires because he does not think it wise to keep them to himself."

"Even now, you threat and banter about how you are this great leader of your soldiers, and how you could but make waste of this land if you but try? How should that make me feel? Pity for the purians, hatred for you, or should I govel before you like one of your pet elves or drow?"

"An ignored little child you are? Why, what did Roarke do that makes your self-proclaimed trump card next to useless? Armies of the dead? Animated corpses and attached spirits are useless in battle against mages. But you would not know that, you come from Norrath. Land of the ignorant and race-unconcious heroes? How do I know that, you boast of how you aided so many non-drow in their plits, like a saint to to the wounded. Who has two artifacts of Dwarven make, gifts for services rendered? Why, Malik has two Dwarven arfitfacts, gifts for services rendered, artifacts he hoped to use in aiding kIng Jiscal deal with hsi dwarf problem, but never got around to using. How do I know, everyone knows the thoughts and wills of Malik, because he blood yells them from his pulpet upon the mountains."

"Why did I offer you the repect by inquisiting everyone before you? WHy do I try to respect you, but fail miserable because you are not one who can be held as respectable. You are crude, violent adn ignorant. Very VEry hum-" Before Cedirc could finish his insult, he appeared in Maelikki's manor, and a very short drow with bat wings was in his place.

"Sorry about that. Boss doesn't want you to kill him just yet." He giggled and disapperated.

Aella was fast asleep on her bed, above the covers and fully clothed.

Deidrick returned home some time later to report to his Mistress. "Mistress," he greated her in one of the sitting rooms close to the entrance. She was expecting someone from the cattle farms for a report. It seemed there was a bit of a cow flu going around, and Meilikki needed to know if it would infect people and if it would damafe their food supply.

"Deidrick, how fars the fortress?"

"I stayed close and listened for what I could, as you asked. Some of it seems well enough. Children and parents are learning and playing well with each other."

"But?"

"But your visit with Piper might be an angry one, instead of the pleasantries you had hoped for."

"Oh?" She didn't sound happy about that. She put her hands to her temple.

Leaf spent much time traveling around the Peninsula, learning the names of it's in habitants, looking for those who had fleed and asking for reasons and aid. She was never asked to do such things, but she was compelled to. At one point, she found herself alying on the ground, staring up at the ceiling overhead. As far as she knew, all she wanted was to be on that surface world...to see the sun....

After being led by Moonstone to his room, Rusty laid down on his bed. His eyes paying attention to every details of the room and his head turning every once in a while to give him a new field of vision.

After seeing as much of the room as he could, he let his head on the pillow and closed his eyes. He had never seen such a nice room in his life. He felt like if he shouldn't be there but shook his head and decided to go along with what fate had in store for him.

At that thought he sat up quickly and shook his head. He couldn't he actually thought that he'd go along with whatever fate said. He usually went againsts whatever fate brought upon him and went his own way.

While etting himself drop back unto the bed he decided it might be a chance he was willing to take. Afterall so far his own theory hadn't done him any good. He closed his eyes and let himself drift off to sleep.

Piper could only give a growl herself and drop her head into her hands. "It's just like the surface elves of Labyrinth...they always run or travel in packs that are ill gathered." Her own little observation, it seemed all the surface elves...or what could be called surfave elves down here were quick to run and stop themselves before they put their hands in the fire. "I'm beginning to like the half elves and humans more than them in every way I can think of." She sighed and raised her head from her hands, sitting back in her chair and giving a look to Malik. No, she wasn't going to reprimand him, try to soothe him about it or anything, after all, he had his points. He had tried being subtle, and subtleties did not work. When those fail, what is one to do other than be boisterous? Again it was prime example though that Malik was indeed two faced. One man to his family and House, another to the world. He was much more apt to speak harshly to ears that didn't want to listen. And she knew Malik would do one of two things right now. He would either tuck it away and indulge himself in his family to soothe himself, or he would go off to his basement domain and plot and feel in control. After all, Piper wasn't ignorant to his need to be in control of things, she had adjusted to it, perhaps indulged it from time to time. And Cedric had 'pointed out flaws'. Malik didn't stand for useless flaws. Another light sigh from her and she turned her attention to the letter she held in hand, opening it and scanning over the page. Hm...hopefully she wouldn't have to put up with anyone there that Meilikki held in such high favor...she may punch one of them.

Sevilin was a man of habit...and a man with little tools of how to deal with things he was feeling. Which of course being so ill equiped, seeing as someone else usually provided it in a form of pain inducing reinforcement, was in fact his downfall in such a situation. Which means a regiment of physical and runic training for a number of hours, no caring for any injury he caused himself or how the use of said runes stressed his body to the point of spontaneous bleeding. All to bury or numb feelings he couldn't handle for his lack of being taught how. This was the only way he knew how, and he had to be strong for his son. And yes, when he did finally leave that sanctuary of his, he was a mess. Hair mussed and stained red, blood dripping from his nose, mouth, eyes, and ears, and his knuckles rather cut up. He felt kind of better.

Isle let her hand off the hilt of her sword. Well it seemed there was no need to worry, Malik or someone under Malik had apparently taken care of the matter and whomever this was was apparently compliant. Okay. Thus she turned her attention to the children that were behind her and crouched to thier level...or rather Malikhai's level, looking up at Lharika some. "No worries, little ones." Now to redirect their attention. "So then, is there more to see?"

Malikhai, ever the adaptive child, too it all in stride after a moment. They were on daddy's lands after all, and daddy said that nothing would ever happen to him or mommy if they were within his reach. Malikhai knew that with the runics set up around dad's little kindgom like village. "No I think that's it. Are you staying too Isleandra?"
PostPosted: Mon Nov 13, 2006 3:18 pm

The letter was simple enough. It asked for Piper to come to the manor for nothing more than a friendly visit. It has beens ome time since they'd seen each other that Meilikki thought it time to get together. There was no point in loosing touch, after all. It also said that her family was welcome to come as well, and Keely of course.

Lharika was thrilled the danger was over and even happier that she and Malikhai were safe, not to mention Isle and Arthur. It would be horrible if something had happened to them and Piper had to write Daddy Kieran and have her sent home. "It's a neat place though isn't it Isle?" Straightening a bit of Malikhai's hair. "come on Malikhai, let's go get you all changed before your parents get upset with you." Thus taking the little boy's hand and tugging him towards the house.

Zahara had already given up on getting into that training room or getting the stubborn drow inside out. She'd about screamed herself hoarse at him, banged on the door so much she had scraped her own hands up and even caused herself a nosebleed attempting to undo his complicated set of runics on that door. It did no good. Her nose bleed had finally stopped an hour ago and she was sitting there, her knuckles healed and one hand braced on her cheek her elbow on the table. It wouldn't do her any good to yell at him but she wanted to. The creak of the door alerted her and she glanced up and saw him emerge. The muscles in her jaw tightened and she surveyed his appearance then calmly picked up a bag, dragged a chair into the kitchen, then faced him and pointed to it. "Sit. Don't argue with me, don't yell at me, just do it."
PostPosted: Mon Nov 13, 2006 4:02 pm

He stopped, looking down on her and not caring that he was dripping blood or anything. But he didn't care to pick a fight with her right now. He'd just be compliant and get it over with. Wasn't like she was planning to hold a conversation with him, just wanted him to not bleed all over the house. So then, he walked over to the chair and sat down as he was told.

Malikhai let her tug him into the house and thus up to the nursery, seeing as that was in fact his room. Though he was told that he'd get a bigger one all to himself one day. "Aunt Lark, is Isleandra staying too or is she going back?" Already working himself out of his little vest and taking off his bandana.

Isle nodded to the children and stood as they carted themselves back off inside. Thus her look returned to Galesen and she ran a hand through her hair, giving a sigh. "Pip was right, never a dull moment."

Dragomyzl rubbed at his temples as he followed the Necromancer. I will never understand this creatures, he though to himself as he walked, when all they wanted to know was the nature of his magic, then why not ask? Why must all these people resort to trickery and brute force? And some still wondered why a endless war wagged at home. "Very well lead the way." his voice as emitionless as ever.
