"Mmm, I look forward to prying apart every bit of information. Until next we meet my asipiration, may the writhing mortals usurp the very gods that command them. And rest assured, my next attack won't be nearly as blind." He left that ending nicely, a brief compliment with the undertones of his attempts to ruin all Mastema had. About as close to friendly as he and Mastema got in times of late, if not entirely in the time they'd known each other.

Now the voice started about prying the recorded images apart, tasting them, enjoying them, deciphering them as best it could. It thought the taste-test a mere diversion, and though it wanted strongly to continue, it had to sate it's curiousity.

Such was the way of KB, easily governed with the proper tools, or...toys.

Well, this was certainly boring.

He had gotten, what, half an hour's sleep at the most? How long was that bloody conference upstairs going to take? He'd prefer being questioned by the guy with the creepy eyes and chatting with Thanatos to this utter monotony. He grumbles to himself and starts going over what he had missed while asleep.

O_O

Boredom didn't last long. HE was outside, messing with children again. Just the thought of him raised all the hair on Cole's body and set his teeth on edge. He wanted to slug something, to mindlessly lash out at that voice and tear it into insignificant little bits.

As before, the motes start to resonate with Cole's emotions. Less hatred, more fury. An aura so strong that Thanatos could probably feel the one next to Eecheb and trace it back to its source. But not so pervasive that those in the Mind would feel it. Unless of course one was looking for such a thing, or always looking.

::Tyrsais would pace slowly inside the meeting room looking out the window. Though oddly enough he wasn't looking up so much as out as though toward the edge of the barrier. His hand would rest on the hilt of his sword twisting slightly against the tight leather bonding making a slightly annoying sound, that at this moment seemed to escape him. His wings were tense but not so much so that it seemed uncomfortable, a summation of his appearance would be annoyed rather then angry::

I didn't say which "thing" you should let me cut in two Master...

Mugiri felt shocked. This person felt.... different than before. "I will hide this information from my master, and report back to you soon." He wasn't sure what to do, but he tried to close off his mind.

*Trilla was already in the cafeteria in the back by the fridge. She was choosing what she wanted to drink, and so for the moment wasn't paying attention to her brother's absense. Micha was still in the elevator, the doors now closed and two motes with him, the one that wanted to follow Trilla was snatched, while the other was likely still with Micha. The elevator was at a stand still, and Micha still had a mote clutched in hand. One would think Cole might wonder about this, but no... he had gone to sleep. Once awake, the motes began to resinate with Cole again, though that mattered little to Micha. The one in his hand would suddenly disappear, what affect this might have on Cole was unknown, the same went for the other motes. For lack of better words... the mote no longer existed. This would be confirmed as Micha opened his hand once again, it was empty with no mote in sight... save for the one still with him in the elevator*

Micha: . . .

*Nana would pause, in reflection. All the buildings should have a syste for putting out fires already since the Citadel used to be inhabited by humans. Those in and around the buildings that were most cherrished, should have been connected to an ample supply of water, if only to slow a fires progression. That now aside, Nana had come up with something to add to her idea of some type of offensive node, of which she spoke to Mastema about before the conference*

--__--

Hnn... then-- I'd like to add on a little to the topic I spoke to you of before the conference.

*From his bed Eecheb would continue to weasel his way about under the covers. In the past, the boy had been rather blunt about his feelings, what ailed him and more. No doubt the same would happen now*

Eecheb: .....I dunno. I-- I-- ......

*Tyrsais still had a chance to speak with Nana before the conference end. He had waited so long... would he give up this oppurtunity as well? It would be hard for Tyrsais to see much, since the top of the tower was still engulfed by the mass of the creature. The windows were completely covered from top to bottom. Nana would wait for a moment after Tyrsais had said his part. Mastema should reply to him first, what ever he was going to say. Damn that sword, it made Nana uneasy ever since the beginning. If only she and the others knew that it wanted nothing more than to spill over all of their blood to the ground*

KB would have an interesting time piecing images together that he could retain. As he went through them, he would find that pieces of one image had been miscoordinated and mingled with pieces of other images, effectively scrambling them and making it no wonder they were just gibberish in Than's mind. If he did manage to make heads or tails of the images, he would find many images which had no relevance to Than, and seemed to be memories or images from someone or something other than Than, making it a wonder why they had come from Than's mind.

Mastema denied KB the decency of any response or farewell, content to let the bodiless apparition amuse himself for now. Mastema nodded to Nana as she mentioned her apparent second concern. "Ah. Of course. One moment." Mastema turned from Nana to Tyr, raising a brow at the man. "Then if it is not this creature you want to cut in half, dare I ask what you do want to rip asunder?" While waiting for Tyr to mention what exactly he wanted to have at, Mas turned back to Nana and nodded to her to continue. For now, the sword didn't bother him.

Than's ability to focus his senses was really off for how much he could develop them. However, the emotionally charged aura discharge did tingle in his body, making it noticable. Than couldn't place where it was coming from. Since it didn't really hurt, he didn't bother to try and trace it for now. "It's okay, Eecheb. You can tell me what's wrong, honestly." Than moved over to Eecheb's bed, and knelt on one knee at its side. "Are you in pain, or is it something else?"

Eecheb: Eh-- I.... I dunno... something-- s-something else...! I don-- I don't know how to say it.

*Well that made things a little difficult, Eecheb didn't know exactly how to articulate what was going on with him. Perhaps Thanatos could guess, but.... would Eecheb really be able to answer, if he understood at all? It was always a risk that could be taken, as there shouldn't be any harm done. Eecheb had slown down and was balled up under his covers now. One could only imagine his expression*

v___v

Well... I was thinking. Perhaps-- some sort of defensive node, to go along with the offensive ones I spoke to you of earlier. Something to protect those, from being directly attacked and destroyed. Perhaps something with the ability to make a mini shield or barrier, a meter in radius? That should be more than enough to protect the other node. If-- If the idea is at all useable or plausable to put into use.

*Something about offensive node? That might spark interest with a few of the conference members. Then these other nodes to protect them? All eyes to Mastema, and comments from the others were all Nana could wait for now*

"Hnn..." Repeating the worried tone Nana often used, Than watched as Eecheb stopped moving, stating his inability to express what was wrong. It wasn't much of a surprise coming from the child who already had so many unusual appendices. "Just try to tell and show me as best you can. You don't have to be afraid of anything." Slowly, Than tried to pull the covers part way off of Eecheb, so he could at least see Eecheb and hopefully help more.

Most of the people were already lost on the idea of using offensive nodes, much less defensive ones.

Sho had to ask: "Um... what offensive nodes?"

"Ah," Mastema turned to Sho, "Nana and I were talking earlier of the possibility of using independent nodes as weapon pods to defend the citadel. Each node would be able to move freely, independently, and coordinate with other nodes for attacks with whatever wepons they were armed with. I believe Nana is suggesting that such nodes have a 'partner' to assist and defend them during an attack. Any suggestions?"

Zeno decided to take up the challenge, putting his satirical humor with it: "Unless you plan to have these nodes be self sacrificial in protecting the others, you'll need to have them create a defense. More magnetic fields?"

"Impractical. We already have the designs for a magnetic field in the works. We would not need to produce more."

"What about the material the current barrier is made of?" Slayer intervened, talking of Than's special substance. "Could they not be used on a much smaller scale to carry miniature barriers?"

"That is a possibility, but it is only a temporary solution. Thanatos has already said he cannot make more of the substance and that which we already have is damaged. He surely has more of it, but it may not last long, especially on smaller scales....hmm?" Mastema's chain of thought was interrupted by Proto, who was going off with whatever it was he was saying. "Zenogais. What is it saying?"

Zeno shrugged. "I'm not entirely sure. I can't tell everything he says too clearly. He's saying something about making 'dual-types' and using mirrors, crystals, or prisms. Let's see...... ah...... he says that the nodes themselves don't need to carry weapons. He's saying that the weapons, probably lasers, should be produced by an external location and then aimed at the prisms or crystals. The beam then can be spread or altered in some way that redirects it at enemies. That way, the nodes wouldn't have to supply their own power. One part of the nodes could have a build in shield which covers it when it's not firing." Again, Proto seemed to have come up with a viable solution.

The problem with thoughts was that they were tricky beasts. Independent, yet always part of the whole. Sneaky, slippery, and fleeting. As they were simply thoughts, with normal people they were nearly impossible to destroy too. However one thing Cole wasn't, was normal.

When Micha attempts to "end" the mote, two things happen in rapid succession. The first is that whatever he did to it, didn't end it. The thing bursts through the metaphysical layers of our world and rockets far beyond the Citadel, completely torn off from the whole and invisible to the naked eye. It crashes into a mountain side leagues and leagues from where it had started, silently burrowing its way in on the physical world, sending massive shockwaves through the world of the mind.

The second is far more... noticeable. Cole screams. Not a scream of pain per se, but a primal shriek that reaches its clawed grasp down his throat and drags out every ounce of agony and suffering concievable through his lips. Oh gods above dear lord save me someone something is there anyone listening how can this happen this shouldn't be possible what the hell happened Something had TORN OUT A PIECE OF HIS MIND!

He had to get it out, outoutoutoutoutoutOutOutOutOutOutOutOUTOUTOUTOUTOUTOUTOUT!!!!!!!

Thankfully, when Micha had attacked the mote, Cole was already focused on something he wanted to destroy. The only thing in fact, that he wanted to destroy. Otherwise, what happened next may have done a whole lot more damage. As things stand, only a thin shaving of the Tower is taken off. Enough to remove the wall Cole was facing for two and a half stories above and below him.

All that agony, all that pain, focused, transformed, released, in a single massive psychic blast that roared out of Cole like a bat out of hell. Six stories in diameter, a constant stream so powerful that it independently manifests itself into a physically destructive force, that would span the length between Cole and the shade of KB that lurked outside the barrier for a good two seconds.

And for that time, the three remaining motes screamed with every raw emotion that poured through Cole in a wave, then winked out.

Eecheb: I-- I don't think I can show you. I don't think there's anything to show... I--- I-- I'm not afraid!!

*After the short decliration, Eecheb wormed his way under the covers a little more. Scared or not, it didn't seem he was going to admit it, and what ever was troubling him, he still didn't know how to explain. All Thanatos was likely to see, was Eecheb's tail, batting about from under the covers, and maybe a part of two of his wings...... and a foot*

>.>

Yes... I was thinking about lasers too. Being able to change their frequency and strength is important too however. If the frequency is too high or too low, the resinance might shatter one of these prisims or crystals.

*As Cole's motes 'screamed' sending out their waves of pain, it would be noticeable. Nana would suddenly wince pulling away from the railing on the stairs for a moment then back to them, while continuing to wince. Eecheb, would suddenly snap to his back and let out a short and quick "Ahh!" before holding his ears. Trilla would drop into a squat holding her head, while leaning up against the fridge in the cafeteria, a short cry being heard from her. The cable of the elevator and the entire shaft was likely to have been rocked, leaving Micha to be bumped about inside. Everyone else who could feel the agony and pain would likely show some signs of it. Once it was all over a few people were going to be obviously confused as to what just happened*

Than couldn't help but smile a little at Eecheb's refusal to admit he was afraid when he was obviously discomforted. "All right, all right. Tell me what you can. Maybe I can figure it out. I think you must have some way of telling me what's wrong; just try"

"Resonance is an issue of sound. I doubt that a laser will shatter a crystal, but it is possible to damage it with too much heat. Although.... I think damage will be minimal and replacement uncommon. Hmm... there are several possibilities, but I believe the dual offense-defense models will work better than individual models designed for each function." Mastema's response was straight forward. At least Nana was being cautious of what damages could be done, but it was likely a mute concern for shattering crystals. "Is there anything else?"

Before long, the annoying screams of the emotes and the damage to the tower would cause a disturbance. The Zenogais units simply filtered out the annoying sounds. The others did wince and shield their ears a bit, except of course for Mastema himself. Thanatos was in the room with another emote when it screamed and it nearly deafened him. He winced and groaned while doubling over. It took several seconds after the screaming stopped to regain his composure.

::Tyrsais would continue to look out the window before moving back toward Mastema and smile slightly at him. He would look in his eyes for a moment studing Mastema's expression slightly before motion toward outside.::

Whatever is bothering you out there... I can tell you've got something on your mind... but still if you don't wish me to kill the shadow creature I know a way to distract it I believe.

::He would then turn around slightly and look out the window again, narrowing his eyes on the creature which currently engulfed the tower. His sword would glow red for a brief moment.::

*Well now, Cole's actions had an interesting side effect, and not just blowing out walls. In fact it had created an oppurtinity, but what? Perhaps Tyrsias would get to fight the shadow creature, sooner than he had hoped, for it began to move away and down the tower no more than a few seconds after the man finished speaking to Mastema. Probably to find out what made such a terrible rumbling. Only it would find an opening instead, and quite a large one. The creature had completely left the top of the tower, and was slowly seeping into the open spaces created when Cole blew out several bits of wall. Now this creature had a chance to explore a little as it made it's way up on the inside of the tower. Tyrsias could engage it in close combat if he wished or if Mastema let him. Still, it appeared non-hostile, if... well creepy*

PostPosted: Sun Jul 02, 2006 1:00 am

By the time everything had recovered from the sudden shock of Cole's release of psychic energy, Mastema had seemingly forgotten about Tyr's statement and was instead focused on the fact that the creature seemed to have noticed an opening in the tower. "Damn," he blurted, "Zio, get drones to begin repairs on the tower's damage immediately, and seal off all floors above level 70 from the apparition."

Thanatos managed to regain himself after a few more moments, and slowly started to push himself up from the floor. "Eecheb? Are you all right?" Than's first concern was his brother.

In the end, it would be the large size of Cole's blast that resulted in its failure to reach its target. With so much surface area of impact came a much reduced pressure on any given point of contact. As such, there was a nice rumble when it hit the barrier, but ultimately it was diverted along the curvature of the barrier until it dissipated.

::Tyrsais seemed a bit confused. He had heard the sound and felt the impact, but there was something else going on in the background something he should have been aware of but was not actively engaged in. He thought about it for a moment before noticing the massive amount of mental energies around it was a calamity of those energies that he had lost due to being a reanimated creature. He looked at Mastema and the others or a few moments before looking upward and running toward the door looking to move out of the room and ascend through the tower to stop the creature before it could reach the others::

Zio guide me in the quickest fashion to the creature... I need your help I've never been in this tower... Mastema I'll attempt to stop the creature without killing it!!!

::With his final note he would attempt to run out now. His blade would begin to glow a deep red letting off a mist of energy behind its master and a slight whisper could be heard by most of the occupents of the room, though it was meant for Nana::

Don't worry... we shall return...
