And so, when they arrived at the manor an hour later, they had made arrangements to stay at the Doctor's house. He hadn't seemed enthused about the idea, of course, but he was pleased by the idea of a paying guest. "Us is welcome to his home," Marcus informed Terryn, looking out at the manor. "And we will pack our things here, take a mid-day meal, and leave. Forever, I should hope."

"Well, I is happy to accomodate." Terryn entered the manor, passing by her host as she passed through the atrium. She winced subconsciously, clapping her hand to her side for no apparent reason.

Marcus looked at the host sharply as Terryn did so, to remind him that this was his fault (though Marcus did not know to what extent). "That's good to know."

Terryn nodded, feeling subconsciously unsettled by the whole place. She didn't feel safe at all, and latched onto Marcus's arm for support, keeping her eyes low.

It didn't take Marcus long to pack his belongings. His finished product was a severely stuffed bag whose shape rather defied description. He was more anxious to leave than he had originally thought. But his anxiousness was mild compared to Terryn's.

Terryn, meanwhile, had gone rather pale, even for her. She packed as quickly as she could, and was constantly reopening her bag to put in yet another item she had forgotten. "Are you ready? I wish to go now." She saw one of the servants pass by the room, possibly the wood chopper by the look of his axe, and it made her nearly throw up again.

"We have to take a small meal first," Marcus told her, eyeing Terryn cautiously. She looked almost green. "Something small, a glass of water. And then we will go. They have hosted us for a week. We must be courteous," he reminded her.

"No." Terryn said nothing more on the matter, mostly for fear that she would burst into tears. All she wanted was to get out of there, and she didn't care how horrible a guest it made her appear.

Marcus exhaled. "Our host is an influential man in these parts, Terryn. It would not do to have him think ill of us. At the very least, it will lengthen our stay here, and although you don't feel well now, I assure you that going home a month or so earlier will be best for everyone."

Terryn shook her head, her eyes now betraying a very unfamiliar hint of fear. "I...I can not stay here. Could we not pretend that I have had a relapse and need to return the doctor's home right away?"

Marcus furrowed his eyebrows. "We could," he began slowly. "But then we'll have to return later and say our farewells formally later. Surely you would not prefer that?"

Terryn sighed. "I can not face them. Something is very unsettling, and the fact that nobody has been able to accuse anyone of this does not make me any more at ease."

"But nothing will happen to you," Marcus told her, as firmly as he could while still sounding gentle. "I am here. I will keep you safe. They cannot possibly do anything to you while I am still here."

Terryn squeezed her eyes shut, wrapping her arms around her stomach. She didn't feel well, but not really from any physical reason. She was quite literally sick with fear, which was making her even more scared since she had never before felt so helpless and out of control.

Marcus sighed. "It'll be ten minutes," he pleaded, sounding like he was on the verge of throwing in the towel. "You needn't even look at them."
