Hiding her soft smile, Gina watched Fawn for a moment. She was starting to understand her classmate some. "How do you know so much about this school?" Gina asked, quite impressed they got to the library so quickly. Usually walks with Fawn left them wandering for a long time with no clear path in mind. Especially this search for their "spot". While Gina looked at the quiet library, she almost suggested the library should become their spot. It had numerous chairs, tons of books and a sense of calm. There were other classmates they could befriend too. But, with how Fawn acted with their homework, maybe being around books was a bad idea... she seemed to be unable to sit still for too long. Speaking of classmates; Gina saw a recognizable classmate with bright red hair leaving the library with two boys. She almost said something, but Gina was still not sure how she would fit in this magical world. Maybe if she watched and waited she could feel more comfortable talking to others. Glancing at Fawn who was randomly acting however came to mind, Gina almost wished she had that ability. It would be much easier to make friends if she could be honest with herself.

Elsie completely lost track of Victor as she walked with Edgar and talked. It was one of the few times that day Elsie actually felt she might belong in this school. Maybe she made another friend! Just wait until Markelm heard about that. Elsie was quite excited and thought of the childhood dream of friends coming over for cocoa, reading books while braiding each others hair. Pausing, Elsie realized Edgar would probably not like that last part. Well. No matter. We will think of something fun. I have friends now! She realized, and started making a list of all the activities she had overheard when she had been back at her old school.

Once Victor ran ahead at the steps Elsie realized he must have been bored of being ignored like that. She felt bad for him. Before she could say anything, Edgar spoke.

"He's gonna try out for the Quidditch team...."He gave a lopsided smile trying to cover for his brothers lie, but his red ears showed his embarrassment. Thankfully, Elsie shrugged as she said,

"It's ok. We did practically ignore him most of the walk. Can you thank him when you see him again. I was just so excited about the book, I... tell him I am sorry about that. ok?" She blushed a moment as she glanced over at Edgar. She liked that his eyes felt calming. She felt like she could tell him anything. It was nice having a friend. Hugging her book to her, she took a step and instead found air. With a squeak, she lost her balance and was helped by Edgar who dropped his armload of books. Blushing deeply, Elsie steadied herself quickly and laughed it off. "I am ok, thanks." She lied, mortified she was that clumsy. These stairs were scary.

Edgar nodded then realized he still had his hand on her shoulder and hip and blushed while he was quite flustered as he quickly let her go and went to pick up his books. Thankful they did not fall down the stairs, or through them. "The stairs take some getting used to. At least one student always falls. Don't want it to be a friend." He said with a shrug and straightened his book pile. Elsie thanked him again then followed up the stairs, this time more cautiously.

As Elsie walked, she eyed all the passages and curiosity was getting the better of her. "Where do all those doors lead?" She wondered aloud. She was eying the moving stairs with a glare as each time they took a turn. She also listened for each shift in the stone and was paying more attention to the signs. She did not want to get hurt from a bleeding pair of steps. Thats for sure.

"My brother and I sometimes explore during the weekends, if you want. You can come with sometime." Edgar offered, completely forgetting Elsie was the daughter of a professor, and apparently she forgot the same thing because she said she would love to join them. It would be nice to have someone else on those adventures; Victor always seemed to outvote him every time. Now, it would be more fair.

At the top of the steps, Elsie saw Kyra and wanted to see how her friend was fairing. Kyra seemed to be doing better at least. Were they still friends? Well, from how Kyra spoke; she still seemed to want to speak to Elsie at least. That was a good sign. Before she could answer, Edgar spoke instead.

"Oh, I am Hufflepuff. Not Ravenclaw. Though, I do love to read... She's the Ravenclaw." He pointed to his house patch on his uniform and heard Elsie giggle softly.

"Kyra, this is Edgar. I met him in the library. Edgar? This is my friend Kyra." She noticed Edgars ears were bright pink as he fumbled to shift his books around before offering his hand to Kyra and said it was nice to meet you. Elsie bent to the pile of books left at the Ravenlaw door and picked up half of them. "And I think everyone should read a book before bed. If that is only a Ravenclaw thing, they are missing out." Elsie said with a sniff. She had gotten in the habit of reading at night with Markelm, then once he left she would try finishing the chapter. As she got older and learned to read faster, it changed from a chapter a night to half a book a night to sometimes a book a night. It depended on how interesting the book was and if Markelm caught her being up at night. She glanced at the book pile again then sheepishly added, "I admit, I might have gotten ahead of myself. I was just so excited to learn so many new things..."

Feeling like a fool, Edgar realized the new girl had been talking to Elsie. At least they did not mock him... in front of him. He suddenly wanted to be back in his dorm and be safe away from others until dinner. This is why he avoided people. Talking to them always made trouble. Although, Elsie and Kyra seem nice enough. Maybe I should give them a chance. He told himself. Instead he said outloud, "I need to get back before dinner. I'll see you then, if that's ok?" Elsie looked at him curiously then slowly nodded and he hurried off down the steps they just traveled up. He was done talking to people. Might even skip dinner, but maybe not...We'll see. Either way, he had been around others for too long.

"Oh I don't know anything about this school but I'm sure its got a lot of secrets worth investigating" Fawn replied with a grin and a hint of possible future mischievous adventures. Fawn vanished into the library and moved with haste between the isles and along the bookshelves. She popped up between two boys studying at a table and in hushed tones asked if any of them had seen a unicorn, but judging by the confused but agitated expressions they gave her she figured they hadn't. She interrupted a couple other students studying but got the same expressions followed by a couple loud irritable hushes. Fawn figured she had checked enough of the library without finding that elusive unicorn. There were still small nooks and crannies and other areas of the library that Fawn could have searched but the librarian had been sending his gaze her way and Fawn got the feeling that she was just about pushing her limits on his patience. Fawn took a less quick pace through the library until she finally spotted Gina who was busy looking at some books. Fawn happily snuck up on her and popped up behind her, looking over her shoulder at the boring thing of text that Gina was looking. "I didn't find the unicorn!" she whispered loudly then pointed at the book with her chin. "So what are you reading? Is it interesting and about dragons and unicorns?" She inquired, still keeping her chin on Gina's shoulder but now leaning her bodyweight against the girl to hold herself up.

"Umm.. yeah. I know she's a ravenclaw.. She is my friend.. " Kyra wasn't sure if the boy was joking or being serious. And it was obvious that he was a Hufflepuff because of the patch on his robes but Kyra didn't point out the obvious as the boy shifted to free a hand to which he extended to her and telling her it was nice to meet her. Kyra gracefully took the hand with a small curtsy, finding the boys hand to be nervously shaky and clammy which was kind of unpleasant but she didn't show any discomfort. "Likewise." When she brought back her hand she sneakily removed the clammy feel from her hand by brushing it along her robe, hiding the action as she turned to address the pile of books once more as Elsie explained that this was supposed to be late night reading.. Kyra herself wasn't against late night reading but this was going a little extreme which Elsie admitted vocally. "Yes.. I would think you got a little ahead of yourself. But I guess the more the merrier when it comes to books.."

Kyra was interested in Elsies new friend and let her attention shift from the books back to Edgar but before she could engage him in conversation he was already excusing himself, and with a confirmation nod from Elsie the boy hurried down the steps faster than what would be considered normal. "He seems nice. Making more friends already I see." She stated as she turned back to Elsie and the pile of books. "So, tell me all about him and where you've been. This boy didn't crash into you like that.. plonker I believe was the choice word you used.. from this morning?" Kyra asked, being extra quiet when she said the word plonker but admitting that it felt kinda fun to use such foul language. As she waited for a reply she bent down and started to load some of the books into her arms. There wasn't much chance of Elsie carrying these books in by herself and if she tried it would probably require an extra trip or two. If it was any house other than Ravenclaw they'd probably be stared at for walking in with so many books but this was probably standard for house Ravenclaw. The statue to the commons room still stood open and so Kyra nodded Elsie to hurry in before it closed so they wouldn't need to solve the riddle again. She let Elsie talk as they entered the main commons room and Kyra hurried to plop the pile of books down on a table since their weight had quickly exhausted her grip. Unfortunately the large stack of books shifted after she put them down and tumbled into a messy stack. "Ooops.. " she muttered and started picking up the mess. Once she had them back in a couple stacks she started to look at the titles to see which books Elsie had brought back with her. Maybe she would pluck one or two for some late night reading tonight, also.

The school did seem to have a lot of secrets, Fawn was right about that. Each new room Gina had explored so far at Hogwarts left her in awe. She had never seen such a large building before let alone one so beautifully made. how wonderful! Gina could not look away at some of the designs. The moving pictures, the ancient tapestries, even the carvings on the walls themselves. Gina had to maintain a high degree of focus to just walk these halls. Having Fawn as a new friend meant Gina would see lots of strange new things, but she also needed to be responsible! Save Fawn from her rash choices and impulsive nature. wow, even the books were pretty... Gina realized as her fingers lightly touched the spine of a large book. The title read Acknowledging nature: a wizarding guide to unlocking nature's knowledge. Pulling it off the shelf Gina was surprised how large and heavy the book was. The engravings on the cover was carefully made. Someone spent a lot of time to design this book. She opened the first page and started to read while Fawn was off bothering fellow classmates. Halfway through the page, Fawn came over and startled Gina with a loud whisper and stealth like footsteps. Gina practically dropped the book as she squeaked then became cross. "Be more careful Fawn!" But as soon as the words left her lips Fawn leaned her whole body against Gina as she asked about the book. Gina sighed and held the book so Fawn could see it better and she said, "No, I found a book about nature." She smiled while she looked around her. All these books. I wonder if anyone read them all. "What kind of books do you like to read?" She asked the wild witch behind her. Gina never really got many lessons with reading. She learned some in church; and her relatives helped her some. Her family was filled with farmers. Only a few got to go to school, and they were always the boys.

The two explored the library a bit more, Gina tried to wave at other classmates as she held the nature book to her chest like a shield. She was rather envious how easily Fawn talked to others. Chucking, Gina was reminded of a chicken they had back at the farm. It was an odd little chicken that often found its way into weird situations. Sleeping with the cows one night, found in the bathtub the next. "....I bet there will be some at dinner." one of the boys said as they were packing up their bags to leave. "Dinner, that sounds like a good idea. Should we go to the hall?" Gina tried to ask Fawn but the girl had once again run ahead. Oh dear... Gina thought with a sigh and a shake to her head.

Elsie practically danced with joy when Kyra called her a friend. Her smile certainly showed her joy when the two new friends met, shaking hands. She has friends! Elsie grinned wider when Kyra teased about the number of books Elsie had. "I was lucky I ran into Edgar and his brother. I would have gotten more books if Victor did not stop to talk to me." SHe sheepishly admitted. The next time she went to that library she would have to bring a bag. It was too tempting to grab a book for every day of the month!

Once Edgar rushed off, Elsie smiled when Kyra asked about him. Giggling when Kyra whispered plonker; Elsie shook her head while she gathered some of her books. The two started to walk to the common room with the books as Elsie spoke. "He's really nice. Has a twin brother. Can you believe it? A TWIN! I had never seen one before. Oh! And they are from England too! His brother came to help me with my book pile that was starting to tip... Edgar happened to be there too and we all talked about my Da and England and it was great. I used to live in a town like theirs before I was six but I don't remember much. I like the city, but Edgar seemed to be happy with being in his town. Bet they don't have a zoo, or a grand library. Or even a movie theater." She dumped her pile of books on the table carefully and had more appreciation for Victor. She would have to thank him at dinner. She had to apologise as well for ignoring him during the walk. The conversation with Edgar seemed to take over her thoughts. Glancing at the stairs to the dorms, Elsie regretted getting 12 books. She did not want to climb those steps now. A loud clutter grabbed her attention and she saw the books had fallen. Helping pick up the mess, Elsie saw Kyra's eyes caught the attention of the book titled Dancing with Nymphs. "Feel free to read these too. I'll keep em by my bed ok?" She offered before picking up a six of the books. She missed little Pyx and wanted to organize her items again. Each child had been given such little amount of personal space, Elsie wanted to make sure she used as much of it as she could. She wanted to drop off her doll but not let anyone see it. Elsie's school bag slipped to her elbow as she started to walk up the steps so she told Kyra she was going to hurry on ahead then took the steps two at a time. She did not want to lose her grip.

Thankfully the dorm room was open and Elsie was able to hurry to her area to dump the books. Instead of being able to use the bed like she had intended, Elsie saw the new cage... and the ess made by little Pyx. Dumping the books on her trunk, Elsie then crossed her arms and said, "Pyxis Nicholais!! Just look at this big ol cockup you made." She spotted a little lump under the covers start to move. It traveled up towards the pillows and a tiny nose peeked out first followed by beady eyes. The hyper ferret crawled out of her makeshift nest and bounced around on the bed towards Elsie. Eying the items on her bed, Elsie shook her head then cracked a smile when the ferret put its tiny paws on the footboard. "What kind of mischief did you get into?" Elsie asked while she hefted the large cage off her bed. Not knowing where else to put it, she put it on the floor by the wardrobe for now then sighed when Pyx ran along the bed in a pacing manner while chittering. She obviously wanted to be picked up. "I gotta tidy up your mess first..." Elsie said then thanked Kyra for helping with the books once the girl finally arrived. "Looks like Pyx had a little adventure. How's Japopo?" Elsie asked. She smiled at the giant slug then started picking up the tiny paper mess from Pyx and spotted the note that had been left on her bed with the cage. Tearing open the letter Elsie saw a hastily written note saying, "The common area is not yours. Keep your belongings in your area. Just because you're a first year does not excuse you from the rules. I know you were the one late to class, getting us docked more points. Do you like causing trouble? I will go to the head girl if you cause any more trouble and everyone will know you're not Ravenclaw material. Maybe that will teach you a lesson. I'm watching you." Scoffing, Elsie made note of the name before she crumpled the letter then tossed it by the wardrobe. I keep making new enemies... She sighed and went over to Pyx, scratching the ferret under the chin then she started to clean up the mess. Finding a book about ferrets, Elsie squealed with delight and hugged it. "Pyx look! I can make sure you get the proper care now." She said then placed the book with the pile from the library. What to do with the cage... Elsie wondered then she eyed her bed. Shoving the cage over to the bed Elsie saw there was less than an inch where the wood hit the cage, glancing under the bed she saw there was space if she could just get one of the legs up enough.

While she unpacked her satchel and talked to Kyra, Elsie carefully placed her doll under her pillow then organized her library books and area after she finished cleaning up the mess from Pyx who was safely in her robes pocket nomming on leftover muffin. Shaking out her bedding once again, Elsie eyed the cage and slowly grinned when she got an idea. "If you want to head down to dinner first, I'll be right there. I want to put the cage away. " Elsie told Kyra letting her friend choose to stay or go ahead without her. Elsie then dug out her history of magic book from her trunk then plopped it on the floor by the footboard, right side. Removing her robes then taking off her shoes and socks, she dumped the robe and Pyx onto the bed. Elsie slowly hefted the leg of the bed and wormed the spine of the book under the crack with her feet. Little by little the bed started to rise then she let go; mentally praising herself for her smarts. Sliding the newly cleaned ferret cage over to the raised corner of the bed, Elsie shoved as hard as she could and managed to jam the cage under her bed with the sound of wood scraping. Sliding to the floor, Elsie gasped in exhaustion and looked up to see Pyx looking down at her with curiosity. "Don worry. I won't do that again..."She huffed then blew some of her wild hair away from her face. Now to get my book back. She thought and pulled. It was stuck. Panic set in as she wiggled and pulled on the book she needed for school. It would be needed next week. She can't just leave it there. Closing her eyes, Elsie pulled hard then heard a ripping sound before the bed thumped. "Bloody hell..." She winced then cracked an eye open. The spine had been ripped and some of the binding was torn. Uh oh... Markelm is going to be so mad... Elsie realized as she slowly hid the book under her bed. Maybe she can fix it before class? Ah well. Elsie thought and stood to dust off her outfit. Elsie picked up Pyx then showed the little ferret the cage by crawling under the bed and prying open the door. "Ok Pyx. This is where you can stay if you need a place to hide but no more taking out all your stuff. alright?" Elsie replied then ushered the ferret to explore the cage.

Her stomach grumbled while Elsie fixed her messy hair and straightened her school uniform. She would be surrounded by all those classmates. She paused then put her homework into her satchel and decided to bring the bag along. If she was not able to get to see Markelm or talk to friends, at least Elsie could keep busy during dinner. If Kyra waited, Elsie hurried to make sure they both got good seats. Maybe Edgar would come over and talk. A smile on her face as she headed down the moving steps of the magical building. She had the feeling it would take some time to get used to this walk.

"I was being careful! Careful you wouldn't hear me sneak up on you." Fawn grinned and leaned over Gina when the book was held her way and she could see it better. It looked boring and the question made Fawn wonder just what kind of books she liked. "Well, I really like the ones with moving pictures." She supplied as the answer. Books with lots of words took too long to read so she preferred ones with moving pictures that she could watch.

Fawn noticed that many of the students seem to be packing up their books and heading toward the exit of the library so she casually (more like ran hurriedly) in front of an older girl to ask where the girl, a Gryffndor, was heading. Startled, the girl mentioned something about dinner, obviously, and dismissed Fawn by going around her to join some friends who were sharing a conversation in hushed tones. Fawn thought that dinner was a fantastic idea and thought she would share that thought with Gina.. wherever she had gone. Fawn spotted her a bit back in the library and speed walked to her. "I have an idea! Lets go to the great hall and get some food! I'm beginning to feel tired and I need to eat to regain all my energy so that I can do more exciting things later!." Fawn explained and began to join the small crowd of students who had already gone off that way. They didn't make it very far before Fawn spotted some dark haired hair up ahead and left Gina without any explanation, only to appear a moment later, dragging a dark haired boy who was also a first year. A first year who seem startled and less than grateful to be dragged about by Fawn "Gina! Have you met Taylor Road?! He's a first year just like us! Taylor this is Gina and the two of us were headed to the great hall for some dinner and you looked like you wanted to join us on the walk there! Gina, Taylor is a Gryffndor.. I think.." Fawn couldn't remember what house he was actually from and her eyes dropped to his robes and to the Gryffndor house crest on it. "Yup. I was right! Taylor sat next to me in our defense against the dark arts class! " Fawn finished introducing the two, proud that she was introducing one of her friends with another one of her friends.. even if Taylor wasn't aware that they were friends.

"I think the last thing you need is more books.. And I don't think this Victor will always be around to stop you from getting more books."

Kyra listened to Elsie as she struggled to walk into the commons room with a bunch of books in her hand. Maybe Kyra can find a way to get Elsie a bag with an Undetectable Extension Charm spell on it. Kyra didn't know the first thing about the charm but it was something her mother used on almost all of her bags so she could carry everything a prim and proper wizarding lady should have on her. Kyra was even surprised her mother hadn't put one of those in her trunk when she was packed for Hogwarts. Because of the heavy books and Kyra concentrating on not dropping them she didn't say much on the way back to the commons room, just giving some nods and grunts to inform Elsie she was listening and following the conversation. Kyra and Elsie had finished restacking the books and Elsie had offered to let kyra read any of them if she wanted to. "Okay. I was never allowed to read before bed before Hogwarts so maybe it could be fun to read up into the night without parents nagging me to go to sleep." She admitted as she picked up half the stack to follow Elsie up to the dormitories where she had been just minutes before, taking a bit longer to get up the stairs than Elsie. I could have just stayed up here.. she snickered quietly to herself while Elsie was distracted with the new cage and the ultra hyper ferret that was bouncing around on the bed. Kyra was actually surprised to see the mess and the cage and realized that she hadn't even noticed it was there earlier while she was busy feeling miserable. Pyx was almost exact opposite of her own pet Japopo who was slow and well.. a slug. Elsie asked about the slug in question so Kyra put down the stack of books next to Elsies bed and went over to her own bed and looked around. Japopo had managed to crawl into her pillow case and as she was looking around poked his head out. "Japopo is good. I think he was just sleeping." she replied and scooped him up off the bed. Japopo slowly inched his way up her hand and vanished beneath the sleeve of her robes. Kyra didn't stop him and figured that maybe he wanted to get out a bit and she didn't think anyone would mind or notice if she brought him with her to dinner. Kyra noticed that Elsie had a letter in her hand so she slipped off the bed and walked over to see what it was about. "You got a letter from someone? What is it about? From your dad" she asked, trying to see the contents of the letter before it was crumpled up and discarded. Kyra didn't go to retrieve the letter to read because she felt that would be rude, so she waited to see if Elsie would tell her what it was about.

Kyra didn't really have anything to do while she was up here so she thought that maybe getting a head start would be a good idea. "Sure, I'll go ahead. Just don't fall asleep and be late this time." Kyra gave Elsie a small wave and headed to the door. She could feel Japopo sluggishly climbing up her arm toward her shoulder. The slug was probably heading toward the inside breast pocket of her robe, a perfect dark place to sleep. Kyra made it down the steps only to have her attention taken by the waving hands of a girl that was also a first year. With the girl was a group of other boys and girls who also belonged to the first years. Kyra realized that she really didn't know the rest of her classmates so instead of impolitely ignoring them she walked over to mingle and introduce herself while she waited for Elsie to finish organizing and doing whatever it was she wanted to do.

Kyra broke away from the group when Elsie finally appeared in the commons room and joined her, noting how the girls uniform and hair were a slight bit frazzled "What were you doing up there? Having a pillow fight with a ghost?" she joked and walked with Elsie out of the commons room and down the stairs. Kyra tried to walk at a quicker more Elsie friendly pace so that they could get to the great hall quicker.

It took Gina a moment to realize Fawn had wanted to sneak up on her and startle her. That's not nice... Gina frowned while thinking of how to correct that. "Well, try not to startle me. You don't want my heart leaping out of my chest now do you?" She said before she realized Fawn might take that expression quite literally. Hrmm, it might not be bad if she did. Gina mused, hoping that would scare Fawn from trying to sneak up on her again. "Moving pictures? Are there such books??" She asked in surprise. She knew so little about this magical world. Maybe Fawn could teach her about some things while she taught the daydreamer some rules about manners.

Gina had only lost sight of Fawn for a moment or two but she did not worry. The library seemed to be a safe place for Fawn to wander about. Besides, Gina was enjoying looking at the book. She had found one more book that she was tempted to check out from the library. She still needed to learn to read better, but practice helped. She was once again startled by Fawn, this time the girl was dragging over a boy she had seen in their defence against the dark arts class. Offering her hand, Gina smiled warmly and apologised for Fawn as she said, "It is nice to meet you. Thank you for helping out Fawn in class." Gina did not remember much from that class other than Fawn being cursed by their teacher. Gina had been too busy trying to keep up with reading and the girl who had been called on. The teacher seemed to be one you did not want to be noticed by so Gina's plan had been to hide within her book and hope she was not noticed. It had worked, thankfully.

Taylor had been asked to go to the library with a classmate he ran into on his way the Owlery. He had wanted to write a message to his parents instead. Now, being in a boring library Taylor was trying to pay attention to what the others were saying. Joon actually liked reading so he came along as well as a Slytherin named Varlen. There were five students he was talking to when Fawn came over then without a word started to drag him off. To be honest he was not sure at all what happened. One second he was talking to Marta Beck and the next he was being pulled towards another part of the library with his complaints ignored. He straightened his robes when Fawn introduced him to the other girl, a cute cocoa skin colored girl with bright eyes. She looked and acted nothing like Freaky Fawn... "Hey... " he managed to say while taking her offered hand. Her hand seemed soft while she gently shook his hand. "No problem, seemed Fawn needed a friend and I'm happy to help." He grinned. Gina was more like what Taylor was expecting when it came to girls. Kind, soft spoken and spoke with a note of admiration. Ya, he could get used to that. "I can walk you two to dinner, if you want. Was going to go with my other friends but I don't mind helping you two girls out." He offered.

"Oh, that would be lovely. I have a book I would like to check out though. Fawn, did you find a book that interested you?" Gina asked while putting down the second book she had considered. It had been about the mysteries of Muggles but she decided one book would take her long enough to read. While she suspected Fawn did not find a book, she had hoped the girl found something to keep herself busy with for the week to come. Because Fawn hated homework so much, Gina figured maybe something fun would be a good reward. If not a book, maybe a game? Gina was musing over this while she went to check out the book and if anything Fawn found. Then the three were on their way to the grand hall. During their walk, Gina asked everyone what they were hoping to learn at school. Gina mentioned she hoped to learn more about charms. So far that was the only class she had liked. Taylor mentioned something about Quidditch but that meant nothing to GIna and when she asked about it the two girls were treated to a whole history lesson in the wizarding sport.

Sheepishly, Elsie had to admit Kyra had a point. "Markelm always said I picked out too many books whenever we went to the library," she grinned at that almost proudly. Although, thinking of their visits at the London library reminded Elsie of bedtime and how Markelm always read to her. Now, even though it had only been one night, Elsie knew tonight would be the same. She missed it and she missed Markelm. Would they never go on walks together again. Or read a book on a rainy day? Even though she had school before, she got to go home after. This felt different. Was her childhood really gone?

Wiggling her numb fingers due to the heavy books, Elsie was glad Kyra helped. And once again reminded herself to thank Victor. "Oh, reading at bedtime is the best! Especially on a rainy day" Elsie gushed quite happy Kyra seemed interested in reading some of the books.

Once upstairs, and dealing with the mess from Pyx, Elsie tried to maintain the conversation with Kyra while at the same time clean. "Japopo seems really easy going. Does he ever cause any trouble?" Elsie asked while she caught a glimpse of the slug before he slipped into Kyra's sleeve. Elsie had seen slugs in Mrs. White's garden many times before but never one this large. Nor did she ever think to have one as a pet. She would think the slime would feel odd. But, maybe it was not that bad. Maybe Japopo would like a bit of garden to sleep in. Elsie wondered if kyra and her could gather materials in Herbology. If Herbology were like helping Mrs. White in her garden, Elsie may in fact like the class after all.

The letter soured Elsie's mood, and Kyra asking about it did not help. Sighing; Elsie tried to think of something to say. "Just someone who thinks I am not Ravenclaw material. No worries." She shrugged at that then busied herself organizing the books on her side table. library books on top, books from home underneath in the nook. Soon her whole area was nice and orderly. Just how she liked it.

At the joke about not falling asleep, Elsie chuckled then reached over to Pyx saying, "Pyx will keep an eye on me. right girl?" The ferret chirped and bounced around on the bed after being petted. laughing, Elsie was glad she had such a spirited pet. Already Pyx was proving to be quite fun.

Finally, with the cage out of the way, Elsie skipped down the steps to find Kyra talking to a group of their housemates. Gripping her satchel, Elsie was not sure what to say as she walked over. Awkwardly she introduced herself and waved when they said hello. She was quite glad Kyra seemed ready to leave not long after that. Some of the students were giving her strange looks and Elsie was not sure what to make of it. Was it due to her being late to herbology and the missing points? Or did some figure out she was behind the points missing during the night. Or perhaps this Brandy told others about the ferret cage that had little to do with Elsie. Could it have been about the fall after potions class? She was sure quite a few saw the disaster of her skirt exposing her underwear. Or maybe the muppet was bragging about how he got to cop a feel. Sighing, Elsie tried to not think of her disastrous morning or the looks she got from her housemates. She faked a smile while looking at Kyra and wondered what a pillow fight with a ghost would be like. "The cage simply gave me a hard time." she said then cocked her head to the side as she wondered aloud. "How many ghosts are in this school anyway?"

The walk to the great hall was pleasant and thankfully went without any problems. Well, aside from Elsie discovering Pyx had snuck into her bag and the ferret now was hanging out on her shoulder quite happily enjoying the view. During their walk, the two girls talked about ghosts and other strange creatures that might be within the walls of their new school and before they knew it they reached the doors to the great hall. Just before they entered, they were stopped by a girl a few years older.

"Excuse me... You are Elsie Nicholais, daughter to Professor Nicholais right?" The girl asked. Flora Pittman was a third year who happened to select this class the year before. She was not expecting a new teacher, nor was she expecting to hear the rumors surrounding him already. Some say he was a strict teacher. This third year hufflepuff was not happy to hear such news. She happened to like magical creatures, but if the class was tough, would she fail? The girl has mousy brown hair and hazel eyes with a round face. Her hair was pushed back except for her curly bangs;
the ribbons in back kept the rest neatly in place. People thought she looked strange due to her ethnic ties. She got her mother's wide nose and coffee colored skin, but her father's hair coloring and eyes.

"Ta, he's my Da. Why do you want to know?" Elsie asked curiously. Would this be common? People stopping her because of Markelm's job choice? Why did he have to take this job? She wondered with an inner sigh. The girl seemed nice enough at least. Not giving her sour looks or glares. She instead seemed nervous, almost fidgety.

"Well, I heard he was a tough teacher... I... well I wanted to know if there was a way to stay on his good side. I picked the elective because I thought I would get to see wondrous creatures... and maybe get an easy class to enjoy... but.." Her voice trailed off while she blushed then looked away not wanting to insult this girl's father. Nor get in trouble with a teacher she had not met yet. She heard some rumors about his daughter too, was it wise talking to her?

"Ah, well. Professor Nicholais said I was too young to know anything about his class... He mentioned something about the dark forest however. I do suggest you simply pay attention to what he says. He loves when people actually listen to him." Elsie shrugged while she spoke not sure what to say about that. She had no idea what Markelm was like as a teacher. She was now tempted to try spying on a class just to see how different he really was. The shy girl quietly thanked Elsie before waving and walking off and Elsie sighed loudly. "People better not make a habit of this..." She grumbled then pointed to the Ravenclaw table spotting some room for Kyra and herself. Did Kyra too dislike having a Professor as a parent? Somehow, Elsie doubted that. Kyra seemed to adore her mother, despite how she embarrassed Kyra in herbology class. "Did anyone ask about your Mum?" Elsie found herself asking when they took a seat.

"I guess we are lucky we have our parents to go to when we have a bad day..." Elsie mused out loud, trying to find the plus side to having a Markelm being a Professor. "And your Mum seems really nice." Elsie added, then paused a moment while listening. She wondered what having a mother was like. She vaguely remembered a warm voice and a soft embrace when she was little. Although, Elsie was old enough to realize the female friends Markelm had around now and then were more like Girlfriends. Were any of those women Elsie barely remembered, her mother? Were her parents still out there? She knew Markelm adopted her when she was five or so. Did that mean her parents were gone for good? Or were they wondering where she was. She had asked Markelm when she was nine, why he had adopted her. He had said because she was his daughter and that was that. She adored Markelm, but would she ever know what happened to her parents? Pyx climbed up on Elsie's shirt and sniffed at her cheek tickling the girl with her whiskers. Laughing, Elsie scooped the ferret away from her face and she looked at Kyra. "Pyx seems to want some attention..."

Edgar spotted Elsie across the way at the Ravenclaw table. Tabitha was trying to get his attention but he found himself glancing over to the Ravenclaw table wondering if the redhead he met earlier would be there. He waved when Elsie glanced over his way and was pleased to see her waving back.
"Who's that?" Tabitha asked while trying to follow Edgar's eyeline. It had taken her months in their first year to get him to open up. Now he seemed to be waving at other girls. What's that all about? Tabitha frowned while wondering what that girl had that she didn't have. "Hmm? Oh, that's Elsie.." Edgar replied to Tabitha's question not taking his eyes off Elsie. Something was wrong. Elsie seemed sad. Frowning, he excused himself then went over to the Ravenclaw table not noticing Tabitha's frustration nor did he know what to say when he reached Elsie and Kyra.

Over at the Gryffindor table, Taylor was wondering something similar to Tabitha's train of thought. Finally free from Fawn and her friend, Taylor found Joon and Vern then sat to eat quietly. While he examined the room he spotted the pretty silver haired witch sitting by the red haired girl. The red head girl seemed to wave at him so he waved back then realized it was not towards him. When he saw a familiar face walk over to the Ravenclaw table, Taylor wondered why they were so warm to welcome this boy when they were so rude to him earlier. Well, Kyra was nice enough but the redhead had been extremely rude. Yet there she was talking to that Hufflepuff like they were best buds. And why did that boy looks so darn familiar? Taylor leaned against his hand and groused a moment. Everyone liked him, he was the son of famous Quidditch players. He had popular siblings already in the school. Why was that girl so rude to him before, and so nice to this new kid? What did he have that I don't have? "What's with the look? Some girl turned you down?" Joon teased, and he elbowed Vern who gave a knowing look while saying, "Their loss..." Taylor seemed to be annoyed by that and denied their assumption which only made Joon's teasing continue. Girls were annoying so it served Taylor right for going all stupid over some girl.

Not sure what to say to Kyra, Edgar found himself rather mute now that he was over at the Ravenclaw table. Kyra seemed nice enough, though Edgar had heard a few rumors about her from his housemates. However, he heard some rumors about Elsie as well. It did not seem like she was a troublemaker so he kept an open mind about them both. It was rather odd both of them had parents who were Professors. Did they know each other because of that? He mused. He heard quite a lot about these two girls, as well as three other classmates. One was Thea Hedman, daughter to a famous Auror. Another was Taylor Rowe due to his parents that played Quidditch and his siblings already in the school. While the third student was Irma Crabbe, some stories about her summer vacation was being whispered about in the halls of the dungeon. Edgar did not condone gossip but for some reason he always seemed to hear things just by being quiet. Edgar absentmindedly reached out to pet the hyper ferret running around on the table and he smiled briefly. It was cute, kinda reminded him of his elder brother's cat. "What's your name?" He asked the ferret and heard Elsie speak, saying Pyxis. "Professor Quagon is going to adore you." Edgar mused aloud. then added, "He's the astronomy teacher..." Edgar paused for a moment then said, "Are you alright Elsie? You seem... down about something."

Startled, Elsie started to blush and look away from both of her friends. "...this all will take some getting used to... That's all. Thank you though. Hey, Kyra! Show Edgar Japopo. I was thinking we could go to your Mum and get some garden supplies. Build Japopo a tiny garden before winter got here" She gave a very vague answer before switching topics. Once the slug was introduced, Elsie asked Edgar if he had any pets.

"Oh, I have a lizard named Hamlet. He's a big ol lug." Edgar said quite amused. He adored Hamlet, though the lizard seemed to like napping as much as he did. For the third time since sitting down, Edgar felt as if someone were watching him. He looked around then spied a red haired boy at the Ravenclaw table looking in their direction. What's his problem? Edgar wondered and was not sure if he could bring it to Elsie or Kyra's attention. They all seemed happy to talk about pets and other animals. No point in ruining a good conversation. He mused. Edgar talked about Hamlet a bit, even mentioned his twin's owl. Elsie brought up her old cat and laughed about a knighting ceremony they did when she was little. Maybe Professor Nicholais was not so cross after all. Edgar mused. He listened to Kyra speak a bit about pets she had before then the topic switched to classes they were all taking this year.

Before Edgar knew it, dinner was over and he realized he needed to get some homework done. He disliked putting it off and being late for bed. "Well, I hope you two have a better day tomorrow. And good luck with Astronomy. Though, he's a pretty easy going teacher." With a wave,
Edgar went to go find his brother before they all headed to their own dorms. He wanted to spend some time with Victor and it seemed anytime he thought they would get time alone things came up.

It figured that the one book he came into the library to check out wouldn’t be here. Markelm grunted in frustrated as he took one more look through the books on the shelves for the book Nos-Forest-U: Creatures and Beast of the Forbidden Forest.. It was the only book in Hogwarts vast library that specifically detailed the known species of magical beast that inhabited the Forbidden Forest. The book could give him some insight into the complicated relationship between the beast there and details on what to expect if he decided to go deeper into the forest. The only problem was… that the book wasn’t here. ”Figures some student would have it..” me mumbled and ran a hand through his messy hair. Hopefully it was an older student who had checked the book out and not a young student who was enticed with the mysteries of the forbidden forest. Part of Markelms job as a professor, and grounds keeper was to keep students away from the forest unless he was taking them into the forest for lessons, and even then he wouldn’t be taking any student very deep into the forbidden forest. If a student had the book he needed then the next step was to figure out which student it was that had the book and see what the return date was so Markelm walked through the mostly empty library toward the librarians desk. Thankfully most of the students were on their way to dinner and since school had just started there was yet not enough homework or tests to keep students in the library through meals. Markelm approached the librarian, Mr Wembel who seemed to be asleep. The frail old man was slumped in his chair with his head tilted forward. Everytime the old wizard breathed out it whistled through thin lips and caused the long white facial hair to sway with breath. Markelm tapped on the desk quietly which was enough to bring the librarian out of his nap. The old man looked around through thick bushy eyebrows that drooped low into his vision and produced a pair of glasses from his robes and put them on. This seemed to be enough to get the old librarian to see Markelm.

Oh.. oh! Professor. You must excuse me but it seems I was lost to my thoughts and didn’t see you come in. What can I help you with? The old librarian pulled himself up straight and started moving his frail hands around the desk, flipping papers and opening and closing books as if to appear he had been very busy before his nap.

Markelm couldn’t blame the old wizard for napping when things were so quiet and as an avid napper himself he didn’t bring it up and just waved it off. I was hoping you could help me locate a book that’s already been checked out. Nos-Forest-U I believe, a book about the forbidden forest?”

”Ah… yes yes. Let me see, let me see.. “ The old wizard flipped open a large sturdy book that kept track of what books were checked out and to which student or professor. ”Well.. It would seem actually that your daughter is currently checking this, and others, out from the library. In fact she was here not that long ago. Left with more reading than I’ve ever seen a child take on their first day.” The librarian chuckled and looked back up to the professor.

Markelm wasn’t sure he heard right as he leaned over the librarians desk and looked at the book himself… and sure enough it was Elsie that had checked that, and a long list of other books, out from the library. ”Figures..” he mumbled and shook his head. Markelm knew he’d probably have to say something to his daughter about taking so many books out of the library at one time but at least he knew who had the book. Though he now had to either wait for her to return the book, or ask her to give it up in a manner that wouldn’t pique her curiosity as to why he was interested in that book. Markelm thanked the librarian for his assistance and left the library. Dinner would be in full swing by the time he got there so he decided to take the route that would allow him to enter the grand hall near where all the professors sat instead of going through the main doors. All the students and other professors were already engaged in conversation when he entered the large room so he took his seat without anyone paying attention to his arrival. He did take a moment to scan the grand haul, specifically the Ravenclaw table and spotted Elsie who seemed to be having a conversation with her friend Kyra and some boy he didn’t recognize. He felt a bit relieved to see that she appeared to be making friends. Markelm started to pile a plate with some of the food in front of him, debating on when and how to get Elsie aside to ask her about the book or to just wait till she returned it. Knowing Elsie.. she’d probably show up at his hut sometime later this week and he wasn’t exactly in a hurry either. Things in the Foribdden Forest seemed out of sorts, but not dire enough that the students of Hogwarts were in immediate danger. He could probably just wait for her to return the book.

Fawn looked down and over Gina’s shoulder at her chest and waited a moment to see if any hearts were going to burst out of her chest. ”I don’t know.. I think it would be best to keep your heart in your chest. Plus even I haven’t heard of a spell that could make a heart leap out of a persons chest.” Fawn put extra emphasis when she referred to herself in the first person, as if implying that she knew a lot of magic spells, or knew a lot about them even if she really didn’t. Fawn mirrored Gina’s surprise about the moving pictures. ”Of course books have moving pictures!” she exclaimed loudly, much to the displeasure of a couple kids trying to read in silence nearby. Fawn rolled her way off Gina’s back and started partially pulling books from a nearby library shelf to see if any of the books nearby would contain pictures. She quickly found one that looked promising, a biography about some wizard who she assumed was still alive since the published date on the book was only a few years ago. Fawn bounded back over and opened the book and thrust it in front of Gina to one of the first pages which showed a picture of a wizard to which the book was about. It the picture, the wizard was sitting in front of an dull background with a smile on his face, waving at anyone who happened to be reading the book. ”See! Though this one is rather.. boring..” Fawn slammed the book shut and returned it to where she thought she had pulled the book from.

Fawn wandered off for a bit more while Gina continued to look at books and eventually came back so they could get to the grand hall for Dinner together, even if she ended up dragging Taylor over to they would have three people in a group walking instead of two. Gina and Taylor introduced themselves and Fawn was pleased to be helping people make friends, a big proud grin on her face showing how pleased she was with herself. Gina mentioned Fawn’s little misadventure with the binding curse earlier in the day and her proud grin turned into a sheepish grin but she didn’t say or deny that she needed help. ”Nope. I don’t need any books so I’m good to go.” she replied and the three of them went to the librarians desk so that Gina could check out her book. The three of them left the library and Gina asked them what they were all looking forward to learning in Hogwarts. Fawn was about to open her mouth and talk about secrets and passages and mysteries but Taylor had already mentioned Quidditch and with Gina asking what that was, the two of them were treated to what she thought was a lame history lesson about the wizarding sport. Gina seemed to enjoy learning about it though, so Fawn didn’t jump in and interrupt Taylor and kept uncharacteristically quiet during his long winded explanation and history of Quidditch.

When they made it to the grand hall, Taylor split away from them and went toward his houses table and Fawn and Gina did the same. The smell of food almost made Fawn drool as she moved with haste toward the Hufflepuff table. Fawn plopped her butt down, finding a spot that was open enough for Gina to join her if she wanted to. Fawn didn’t wait to dig in as she just started gathering up food to shovel into her mouth. If Gina tried to talk to her she’d most likely get a bunch of muddled replies because Fawn lacked the manners to swallow her food first..

"I've always liked walking outside during rainy days. Though my mother usually forbid me from doing so because I'd often get my clothes wet and muddied. I'll have to send an owl to my father to see if he can sneak me in an umbrella without her notice." Kyra made a mental note to send a letter using one of the Hogwarts owls later in the week. She had other things she wouldn't mind being sent to her, so long as she could get them into hogwarts with her mothers eyes not catching them. Kyra pulled back the sleeves of her robe when Elsie asked about the slug that was almost completely up her arm. She gave him a small stroke on the top of his head and tried to remember if Japopo had ever caused any sort of mischief. "I do suppose some of my mothers friends found him to be a bit repulsive. But I don't think he'll cause any troubles. He doesn't have the same energy that Pyx has.. You better keep an eye on him so he doesn't escape the commons room." Kyra was still curious about the letter but she wasn't rude enough to just go over and snatch it. If Elsie had wanted to share then she would have offered it to her so she rolled her sleeve down and took her leave from the dorms and back into the commons room to wait for Elsie.

Elsie had taken a bit longer than Kyra thought she would but she finally appeared and gave Kyra a good excuse to get away from the group of first years that were chatting with her. It wasn't that Kyra didn't like socializing, but more that a lot of them thought it was so cool that her mother was a professor and she felt they thought that would give Kyra, and the other Ravenclaws, some sort of academic edge or something. Some of the first seemed pleasant enough and she did hope that over time she would get along with most or all of them but after the rocky day she had she really didn't feel like becoming everyones friend. Kyra waited for Elsie to introduce herself to the rest of their classmates before she used dinner as an excuse for the two of them to get away, oblivious to the odd looks that they were giving Elsie. Kyra did think that cage was rather large for Elsie to lug around by herself and realized she probably should have stayed to help, but it was too late to do so now. "I can't recall. Of course I've heard my mother talk about the ghost but I'm not sure how many there are in total. I bet you could find out in the history of hogwarts book though."

Kyra and Elsie chatted as they left and slowly walked their way down the stairs. Maybe it was her wizard upbringing but Kyra didn't really fear the moving and shifting stairs and found them easy to navigate. Elsie would probably take more time before she got comfortable with them.. Kyra returned greetings to paintings that spoke to them and the two talked more about ghost and other creatures. "I would caution speaking about Peeves. I've heard that just mentioning his name usually has the unwanted consequence of making him appear.." she warned to Elsie in a very hushed tone. Peeves was probably Hogwarts most famous ghost and it probably wouldn't take long for the new students to get used to his antics. They finally got to the large door to the great halls only to be stalled by an older girl who had some sort of business with Elsie. Kyra shifted the straps of her bag and kinda stepped away to let the two talk but stayed close enough to hear the conversation. Kyra hoped this wouldn't become a common thing, for Elsie and both herself but thought that she wouldn't encounter as much of it herself since her mother was a well known hogwarts teacher and other students would talk to each other. Elsies father was rather mysterious and now that she thought of it, she wasn't familiar with him and her mother never spoke about professor Nicholais before the school year started. It seemed the older girl was finished trying to get a feel for the new professor and Kyra watched her walk off. "I think people are just trying to find out if your father is going to be a strict teacher like Professor Shimpett. My mother doesn't speak very highly of him.. and I've met him before and he kinda scares me. We have his class tomorrow I think.. He's the Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher." Kyra shook her head no to Elsies question on if people had asked her about her mother. Nobody has really straight up asked her even if she knew that's what the students in the commons room were trying to get to. Kyra followed Elsie into the great hall and the two of them took their seats. Kyra pulled her bag from her shoulder and placed it on the floor beneath the table.

"My mother can be nice as long as your not doing anything to get into trouble.." She answered. Kyra loved her mother but she wanted to prove to herself, and to her mother, that she could handle school without having to run off to her mother anytime something went bad.. even if she wasn't doing a good job at that already. She didn't want the other students to think that she got some sort of unfair advantage because she was a professors child. Kyra hoped that Elsie wouldn't get into trouble by bringing Pyx to dinner. She couldn't really discourage her from doing so since Japopo was in her pocket and he was probably hungry. Kyra pulled a piece of lettuce from a platter of vegestables and snuck a slice to Japopo and then started putting food on the plate in front of her. At least here her mother couldn't nag at her to eat properly and chew her food quietly with her mouth closed. Kyra did looked up toward the teachers table only to catch her mothers gaze. The look her mother gave her sent chills down Kyra's spine.. it was as if her mother knew exactly what she was thinking, and so under the watchful gaze of her mother she made sure to make some sort of effort to look proper while eating. "What does a ferret eat, anyway?" she asked, looking at the pet in Elsies hands.

Kyra and Elsie ate for a few minutes and chatted until Edgar approached them. At first Kyra was a little weirded out since the boy just stood there as if he wasn't sure what to do now that he had made it that far, but she didn't say anything and just waited till the boy took an interest to the ferret. Kyra had food in her mouth when Elsie brought her into the conversation and before she brought out Japopo she took a quick glance to the professors table. Her mother was busy in conversation but she suspected her mother would disapprove of her brining the slug to the grand hall. Kyra slipped a hand into her robes and removed Japopo and placed him on the table where he started slowly inching his way to more green vegetables. After swallowing her food she shot down Elsies idea. Kyra would prefer to not ask her mother help if she could avoid doing so. "I'm sure my mother is busy with other things, but the school grounds has plenty of trees and other plants. I'm sure I can gather enough wild flowers and such to make him a garden. It would give him something to play around in when I'm not around." Edgar sat down to some awkward stares from some of the other Ravenclaws and even glances from other houses who probably weren't expecting a Hufflepuff to be sitting at the Ravenclaw table so early on in the year... Kyra tried to ignore some of those stares so she listened to Edgar talk about his lizard and soon the three of them were talking about their pets and the classes they have already had and were goin got have. Kyra kept an eye on her slug but since he wasn't exactly quick it was easy to keep him within arms reach and behind objects that she was sure her mother couldn't see through. Kyra had finished eating quite early and was full enough when dinner ended, though it definitely felt like it flew by quickly. She was glad to hear that their astronomy teacher was easy going. That hopefully meant that there was no way they'd get into trouble. Edgar excused himself and went to find his brother.

Clyde held his hand out as he once again recanted his tale of touching a boob to a riveted audience of first year Ravenclaw kids sitting around him. Clyde constantly threw glances down the table to make sure his voice wasn't so loud that Elsie and Kyra.. or any other girl for that matter, would overhear him recant how a couple girls had crashed into him this morning and during the ensuing entanglement his hand landed straight on a girls plump boobs. Clyde couldn't deny that he enjoyed the attention and the way his fellow first years were hanging on every word as he described how it felt soft and bouncy and he swore up and down that he got a good ten solid seconds of boob touchage. Several of the kids pestered him to tell which girl it was so he had to dodge the question. "Look.. I don't want to give away her name because I think she likes me. But.. its.. an older girl! I'm swear of me mums grave! If I'm lucky I may get to touch more boobs" he replied, lying and playing it off like it was a 3rd or 4th year girl. Nobody would believe him if he grabbed a flat chested girl his own age and a little embellishing never hurt anyone. The part of it being an older girl got some oooohhs and ahhhhhs from his friends who managed to maintain hushed tones and he even let the other kids touch his hand as if it was some sort of magical relic. Clyde took another glance down the table and to his surprise there was a boy standing near Elsie and Kyra and the three of them seemed to be chatting in a friendly manner. Clyde didn't hear another kid ask him a question since he was distracted, but he realized he was starring and so he figured it was nothing and went back to talking about boobs and eating dinner. So far Clyde's first day of class had gone pretty good and he remained on every teachers good side. Even if their house had already lost points, it wasn't him who had lost those points.. and with that thought in his head he changed the conversation and tried to figure out if anyone knew why they had lost 5 points that weren't apart of the 10 that Professor Hallow had taken from their house. None of the other kids knew a thing though and soon Clyde was in conversations about everything from quidditch to class. Some of the kids had steered the conversation to their flying lessons and how they couldn't believe that girl Kyra couldn't fly a broom and snickered over the way she freaked out. Clyde felt like he should defend her but couldn't bring himself to since he had already gained good favor with his classmates and didnt want them to think he was weird for standing up for a girl.

Joanoah sat with his fellow Slytherin students in the dining hall and it didn't take long for the re-enactments of todays flying lessons to commence. It had only been a few hours and already the story had been over exaggerated among his fellow housemates, who were howling with laughter as Varlen was maneuvering a fork through the air that was supposed to represent Slug who Varlen claimed soared through the sky only to crash straight down into the ground, where there was a giant puddle of mud, represented by a gravy bowl. Of course that wasn't how it actually happened but Joanoah didn't say anything as he chuckled along with but constantly kept his eyes scanning the grand hall. Breakfast and dinner were the two best times for him to watch the other students and see who was interacting with who. There was a ravenclaw boy who seemed to be sharing a story that some other boys were very intent on hearing. He thought the boys name was Clyde but couldn't remember clearly. Further down the table he spotted Slug and her intriguing friend and moments later a Hufflepuff boy joined them. That was unusual and he wasn't the only one giving it strange stares. Joanoah cast his eyes to the hufflepuff table and caught sight of a girl who was glaring daggers at this boys back. Useful. He then turned his attention to the teachers table and took note of the professors for a moment before regarding his food again. He had never been a huge eater so finished the light meal on his plate and went to his bag to pull out a small journal. Joanoah opened it to the first page that already had some scribbles on it. One of his friends leaned over his shoulder to see what he was doing but Joanoah pushed him away with his elbow and pulled out a quill to do some writing while muttering to be left alone. He didn't have to worry about his friends cajoling him over having a journal since everyone knew his father was a prominent figure in the Ministry and wealthy. Joanoah knew very well the benefits this gave him and he planned on using every advantage he could to gain his house points and to make sure he was looked up to. He finished taking his notes at around the same time most of the students began leaving the grand hall so he slipped his journal back into his bag and stood. The boy next to him asked him what they were going to do next. "We don't have anymore classes today so how about we head out to the courtyard and play around for a bit." he suggested. His friends hastily finished their food and grabbed their bags. It was clear they were going to go wherever he went.

Fawn was well into seconds, stuffing her mouth with another chicken leg and chomping away like a starving hyena. It was clear by her meat filled plate that she didn't like vegetables. The only vegetables she ate were mixed with better foods or covered in gravy. Fawn wasn't a very good conversation maker with her cheeks stuffed to capacity, though she did, with mouth still full, constantly exclaim how good the food here tasted and it still amazed her how the food just popped onto the table magically. Hopefully there was a spell out there they'd learn soon that would remove food from robes cause Fawn was sure to get food all over her clothes sooner or later. Fawn had a chicken leg in each hand and cheeks stuffed full of chicken when her eyes finally took notice of something other than food, and that something was a girl with silver hair. Fawn dropped the two pieces of chicken and jumped up suddenly, exclaiming something incoherent because no words could get past the mouthful of chicken. She then looked looked down at Gina, pointed at the girl and repeated her incoherent words that sounded like "Mrmmphh mprrrmppp siuuuuuveeee huuurrr". She almost thought about just dropping everything and bee lining it to the Ravenclaw table but there were far too many people around and she'd be spotted so she suddenly sat back down and rapidly started to chew her food. Fawn couldn't scheme and think with her mouth full because she knew that the food would block her brain waves from working. Fawn's eyes went from Gina to Kyra and back to Gina several times and then whispered to Gina. "The unicorn is here! We have to follow her after dinner is over!"

With dinner being over and students with stuffed bellies slowly making their way out of the grandhall, Kyra thought it was about time she and Elsie join them. Thankfully their friendly chat had been engaging enough to distract Kyra from the Slytherin antics throughout dinner but she wasn't completely deaf and unaware of their loud howling laughter and who they were poking fun at. She decided to not let it bother her and figured in a few hours the slytherins would find a different target to bully and let her be. Kyra picked up her bag and waited for Elsie to finish. "What do you think we should do now? Go back up to the Ravenclaw tower and wait for astronomy?" Kyra asked, with a hint of suggested hoping that Elsie would want to sit down to some of her books and they could spend the rest of the evening without any chances of getting into trouble. If Elsie wanted to walk around a bit though, Kyra would join her.

Not sure what to make of Fawn's spell knowledge, Gina eyed her new friend. True, Fawn knew a lot more about the wizarding world than Gina. But, the strange girl certainly lacked in some social rules and manners. Although, Gina had been surrounded by a large family who were all of different ages. Gina learned a lot from them. Even though she had always been a bit odd to them... Maybe even more now that she was a witch. "Fawn, we're in a library..." Gina reminded Fawn when the girl spoke too loudly. It seemed like Fawn did not understand. To Gina, this library was a treasure. She had never seen so many books in her life. Curious about the moving picture, Gina watched Fawn find one. Awe was her first reaction followed by excitement. It was like a film! Gina had seen one once before when she visited her brother in the city. It was the best outing ever. "How do they make the pictures move?" Gina wondered out loud. She had been just as curious about the moving paintings.

The history lesson of Quidditch was fascinating. To think this world has existed for so long. Gina was not able to follow along with Taylor's gushing. He used a lot of words she did not know, but she still hung onto his every word. By the time they reached the grand hall, Gina realized Fawn had not spoken. She never answered the question. Gina made a note to ask the girl after they had some dinner.

DInner was quiet, only mild conversation while Fawn stuffed her face. Gina was nibbling on vegetables not really a fan of eating animals she had helped raise. Though, she did eat a mini meat pie and have some roast with her vegetables. "You never said, what are you looking forward to learning here at Hogwarts?" Gina asked once she neatly wiped her mouth. The meat pie had been a bit messy.

Nearly finished with her meal, Gina was startled by Fawn's outburst. Eying the girl oddly, Gina waited for Fawn to calm down. Unicorn!!?? She thought and for a moment scanned the room. "Are... are you seeing things?" Gina asked uneasily. There were only kids in this room.

Elsie would rather curl up with a nice book than intentionally go outside in the rain. But it was nice once she was outside. With how much rain London got every season, Elsie treated a rainy day the same as any other day. Sure she loved getting on her rain boots, and umbrella when she was younger to run outside to explore. And it always smelled nicer during a rainfall. Especially in the Garden due to less stink from the streets of London. She did not stay out in the rain for too long, however. Everyone told her to hurry back inside before she'd catch a cold. Most of the time, her adventures outside in the rain were due to shopping or walking to school with Markelm. Sometimes it started raining when she was out with others, and she lingered while catching the rain with her tongue. she did not recall the last time she intentionally ran outside to play in the rain. Probably when she was seven? She did agree that rain sure made things messy. "Markelm said I had a way of ruining perfectly good clothes." Elsie chuckled at that. She remembered that Markelm often grumbled when they had to go shopping in the rain.

Hearing Kyra say some people found Japopo repulsive, Elsie was shocked. Sure he was slimy and not fluffy but he was rather cute. "Well, that's just barmy. Disregard those who say anything bad about Japopo. He's got class." Elsie said with a fierce nod. She was not sure she would like him getting her clothes messy or surprising her in bed. But, he seemed rather easy going and Kyra said he behaved. Unlike little Pyx who, as if to prove Kyra right, started to climb the curtains surrounding Elsie's bed. "She does have a lot of energy. It's why I asked Markelm for a cage so she can have a place to relax in. Think she would wander off?" Elsie wondered the last part out loud when glancing at Pyx. Once Elsie was heading to dinner, Pyx's sneaky appearance made Elsie wonder how often that would happen. "You better not sneak into my bag when I have class." Elsie scolded the ferret who simply peeked out of the bag and enjoyed the walk.

Their talk of ghosts made Elsie rather curious. SHe made a mental note to check out that book after she was done with her selection. Maybe it would have some information about the animated paintings. She thought while waving at those who said hello. It was odd to interact with something that had always been inanimate and dull. Hearing brief mention of Peeves, Elsie was reminded of what Markelm had told her earlier. "Mark...Professor Nicholais said that even the teachers struggled with controlling Peeves. Rather hoping we don't run into him anytime soon. Especially with our hard lines."

Pondering over Kyra's theory, Elsie too wondered what Markelm was like as a teacher. Not wanting to wait who whole years, Elsie was starting to make plans to find out Markelm's schedule so she could sneak into one of his classes. No way she would tell Kyra, at least not yet. The girl did not really have as much of a sense of adventure as Elsie. Or so it seemed. "He is usually rather lazy. But, this is the third person who told me they heard Mar...er... Professor Nicholais is strict." She then shrugged and decided she would not think about that for now. it may take some time before she could sneak into the class. Upon hearing about their defence the dark arts professor, Elsie cringed. Just what they needed. "Hope he is not too scary.." She said softly. Their class better not be tough! She wanted to keep up her grades and learn. Not be terrified of going to class.

Elsie listened to Kyra speak a tiny bit about her mother. Professor Hallow did seem to care about the rules. Markelm was a bit slack in that, however there were some rules that, if broken, would get him quite upset. "Is your Da like that too?" Elsie asked Kyra, rather curious to hear the answer.

Rather sure the slug enjoyed being out and able to enjoy a fresh piece of lettuce, Elsie glanced at Pyx a moment before replying, "I don't know much about their eating habits but Markelm left me a book about them with the cage. So, right now I am just letting Pyx pick out what she likes. She rather liked the chicken from lunch." Elsie glanced over at the Professors table to see if Markem was there or not. Would he be pleased with how Elsie was taking care of the ferret? Or did he expect her to read the book and do things carefully. He should know Elsie was rather impulsive, but his little speech about being a professor's daughter was still ringing in her mind. Just how different did he expect her to act?

Edgar enjoyed his chat with Elsie and Kyra. The two seemed rather nice and they did not seem smooty like some of the Ravenclaws he had met. It was strange that Kyra was the daughter of Professor Hallow. She was a tough teacher to please. Although, herbology was not his best class. Surprisingly he was rather good at defence against the dark arts and charms. He was one of the few students who did not mind Professor Shimpett. Although, the professor seemed to be surprised by Edgar. Had even accused the boy of cheating once before. The talk of pets with the girls, reminded Edgar he had a homework assignment from Potions. His lizard's nail clippings would be useful with making a potion. Professor Gine had instructed everyone make a favorite potion. See what they all retained from last year. Once he left to find his brother, Edgar was curious what classes Victor had.

At the Griffindor table, Edgar spotted Victor talking to friends while they were finishing their dinner. Looks like I made it in time. Edgar realized as one of the party members got up and gathered their bag while waving farewell. "Hey" He said with a wave to them all. He was not really sure what to say, even though he recognized all the faces from the numerous times they met. Being Victor's friends, Edgar tried to at least remember their names and faces. He just felt rather awkward starting conversations with any of them. Heck, Tabitha and Sally were the only classmates he even went to talk to intentionally. Aside from Elsie and Kyra. He was going to try and talk to people who seemed nice. Yet, now in front of Victor's friends, Edgar found himself mute. Well, this is just pathetic. He thought to himself while he tried to figure out what conversation to start. Or wait for someone to start on themselves. The latter seemed the better choice.

As Elsie gathered her bag, Pyx ran over to her indicating she wanted to be picked up. Elsie glanced over to the Professor's area and slightly frowned. Markelm seemed busy still. She was hoping to help offer to unpack some more. She had some questions that she figured she could sneak into conversation while he was distracted with memories. But, if he were this busy then he might again dismiss her help. Slipping Pyx back in her bag, Elsie glanced at the faces of her housemates wondering who sent her the letter earlier. Just how many of these faces disliked her? How would she be able to fix her mistakes? This school was unlike her old one. Her classmates were also her housemates. They could make her life miserable if they really wanted to. In fact... Elsie's eyes slit when she spotted the damn Muppet surrounded by boys as they talked. He was so annoying... How did he get so many friends already? "Well, I was thinking we could explore a bit. Find our classes for tomorrow. We need to get to them all on time, and make sure it's a better day. Maybe learn about our teachers and see if we can earn some points." Though, if Kyra did not want to wander around; they could go upstairs and relax. Elsie figured if she relaxed now she would fall asleep. One last glance over at Markelm, Elsie clutched her bag. "Though, if you're tired... I can see if Markelm has some free time and you can go rest. I don't mind." Elsie added letting Kyra pick what she wanted to do.

Kyra too, hoped that they wouldn’t run into Peeves anytime soon as she looked around with worried eyes, expecting the ghost to just jump out at any moment while the two of them were talking about him. Peeves, she had heard, just loved ruining peoples days, especially when it was students who didn’t want him around. Of all the ghost in the school, the only one she had seen up close so far outside of the welcoming ceremony was the Grey Lady who was often seen around Ravenclaw tower. Kyra hadn’t spoke with her yet, unsure of the proper way to approach a ghost. ”Well, like I said.. try not to mention his name.. He’s the last thing we need today.”

”My father is not nearly as strict as my mother when she isn’t around. Sometimes he takes me out when my mother is busy. Those were always the best days because I get to do what I want and get dirty if I want to. He usually ends up having to apologize for it but my mother never seems to stay mad at him. Its not like with me.. she always seems to fuss over and about me.” Just thinking about it wanted to make her plant her forehead on the table and mope for a while but her mother would disapprove so Kyra changed the subject and the two of them began to talk about random wizarding things for a while till Edgar came over and the conversation shifted to pets and school and the classes they were going to take. Kyra was kind of glad for the extra company as it helped her distract herself from the presence of her mother and from the boys further down the Ravenclaw table who seemed transfixed on something that was of apparent interest. One boy, that boy who crashed into them earlier, kept throwing glances their way but Kyra decided to make nothing of it. It was a far less distracting thing that the slytherins and their hooting and hollering. Edgar never even brought up the fact that Kyra’s mother was professor Hallow, which she found refreshing. Kyra had wanted to avoid talking about her mother and so it was very pleasing to have a chat that didn’t end up finding a way to involve her mother. She wasn’t even very keen on talking about anything relating to her family or where they came from, fearing that people would treat her differently because her mother was a professor and her father was an influential ministry worker. Kyra just wanted people to treat her like everyone else, and so far, with only a few exceptions, that seemed to be how the other students were treating her. But it was only their first full of at Hogwarts, so anything could change.

The suggestion of walking around and finding their way to tomorrows classes was a good one, and could potentially lead to a better day tomorrow. She didn’t want to disappoint Elsie by just bee lining it to the commons and staying up there until astronomy so she agreed to walking around a bit, even managing to tie in a way of ending their walk around by going to the Ravenclaw tower. ”That sounds like a marvelous idea. And if we want to learn about our teachers we could always ask some of our fellow older Ravenclaw students later tonight. I.. don’t recall the names of our perfects or the head boy and girl but maybe we could ask them for advice on the other teachers, I’m sure they’d be glad to help. “ Kyra put her bag back on the table and picked up Japopo and slipped him inside the bag, then reached in to pull out their class schedule to remind herself of what classes they had tomorrow. ”Looks like we have Charms. Transfiguration. and Defense against the dark arts tomorrow.” That sounded like it could be a busy day with a lot of wand usage. She kinda enjoyed herbology and even potions because it was less wand waving and more hands on work, but having the chance to really dive into spells and charms and hexes would be exciting. Though undoubtedly they’d only get to learn the easy spells this year and she wasn’t even sure if they’d pull out their wands on their first lesson. Kyra knew the only class in the dungeons was potions, so they wouldn’t be going down any stairs and she was pretty certain that those three classes were all inside the main building of Hogwarts. Kyra shouldered the bag and waited for Elsie to be ready before the two of them departed the grand hall.

Asking any question of Fawn while she was midway through a chicken leg was as hopeless as filling a barrel with no bottom, as with both cheeks full of food and more in her hands ready to be devoured, speaking was the least capable thing she could do. But that didn’t stop her from trying to answer Gina’s question about what she wanted and hoped to learn here at Hogwarts. I want to meet and pet all sorts of magical creatures and I’d like to learn how to make chairs dance and and I wouldn’t mind learning more about house elves, and maybe even learn how to fly. I don’t mind running or walking but I think if I could fly then I could travel faster and still see everything. That’s the problem with wizards apparating, they miss seeing everything from where they start to where they end up! But with flying you get to your destination faster, and you can still see everything on the way.. Gina however, mostly just heard a lot of muffled Mrmmph and oomph and warmmp noises and bits of words here and there as Fawn didn’t stop chewing to answer the question, talking while her mouth was full which made the entire response an incomprehensible mess. It wasn’t until she saw the Unicorn that Fawn actually swallowed all the food in her mouth and made room for air and words. Fawn pointed toward the two great doors that her Unicorn had left, joined now by the Phoenix. ”Of course I’m seeing things. That’s what eyes are for! Come on, hurry up and gather up your stuff, we have to get going or we won’t be able to track the unicorn and her phoenix friend!” Fawn exclaimed rather loudly, gaining some strange looks from the Hufflepuff students sitting near to them. Fawn rapidly gathered up her things and threw them into her bag, along with some food and a quill that didn’t belong to her but was within arms length and therefore in the path of Fawn. Gina was a bit slower at getting her things together which caused Fawn to hop from foot to foot while she anxiously waited and once Gina was up she marched off to the doors, looking back to make sure her friend was keeping up. Fawn blew through the wide open doors and looked down the halls, eyes scanning every head of hair until she found their pray. ”Ah ha! Found them. Onward we go!” she stated and took off in the same direction that Kyra and Elsie had gone. It didn’t take long for Fawn and Gina to gain some distance on them, as the unicorn had a majestically slow walk befitting a unicorn. Fawn too eased up the pace once they were about 10 steps behind and stalked them from that distance.

Elsie nodded. True enough. Though, with their sour luck; they just might run into Peeves... She secretly hoped she would meet more ghosts during her stay at Hogwarts. A part of her was curious. Even though a lot of her was scared.

Smiling at that, Elsie listened. Kyra's dad sounds a lot like Markelm. Cept there was no mom figure scolding him about letting her make a mess. She inwardly chuckled remembering when she painted one of Markelm's robes. As the girls talked, Elsie was grateful at how relaxed Kyra made her feel. She never got to have an easy going talk like this before. Not even with the neighborhood kids who said she was their friend. Eventually Elsie would say something weird and get awkward silence; or they would all suggest they go play with others at the park. Elsie never really had one on one time with her friends before. This was nice.

When Edgar came over, Elsie was grateful for the change of pace. She was starting to feel self-concious. She realized Kyra did not like talking about her mother, and Elsie; excited to see what having a mother was like, must have pressed a bit too much. She also was noticing the looks from the other people at the table. Maybe checking out all those books was a bad idea. She just... felt weird standing there with the pile of books and a cute boy offering to help her. She had planned on reading till late into dinner. Since she ate so fast. Did people see her as a goodie goodie? Or a troublemaker... Would it be just like her old school? So, yes. Edgar's arrival was perfect. And quite enjoyable. Letting her worries drift away as they all talked.

Elsie grinned and proudly patted herself on the back, inwardly. Oh! I think one of the prefects is … Mary or something. The curly blonde that helped us find potions class. She had one of those pins on her robe. What's the difference between a prefect and head girl?” She found herself asking as she tried to remember the pin the teen had worn.

Elsie scooped up a sleepy Pyx and slid the ferret into her pocket. Apparently the hyper girl had run around the table so much she tuckered herself out. Upon hearing defense against the dark arts was one of their classes, Elsie shivered. Kyra had earlier said how scary their professor was. She had forgotten about the crack in her wand, and was more dreading their last class. She did not do well with mean teachers. Her temper often flared and she blurted. She had perfected her penmanship due to all the writing punishments she had gotten. The teachers were baffled by her. She was always top of the class and answered questions when asked, she just sassed and talked back enough to be on their watch list. Plus she got into enough fights, they seriously contemplated expelling her. However; each case was both parties at fault and it would be unfair to punish just Elsie. Parents however, branded Elsie as a troublemaker and refused to let their child near her or befriend her. Sighing, Elsie was hoping to not get into trouble at this school. She really was starting to like it.

Gathering her items, Elsie snagged her satchel and slipped an apple in one of its pockets. They would have to find the classes before it got too late. She would not be caught out after curfew again. “What's charms about?” She asked, realizing they had been walking in silence for a bit. They did not really know where they were going, but gosh darn it, they would find one of their classes.

Kyra and Elsie had exited the grand hall, bellies full with the intention of finding the whereabouts to their classes tomorrow. They wouldn't be late again and get more points deducted from their house. She felt as if they had already painted targets on their backs. First impressions were everything her mother always preached, and the first impression that Elsie and Kyra made stunk. They've been late to class, Elsie already busted her wand, and she's already had one freakout since coming to Hogwarts. Great track record, Kyra. Elsie's question about charms pulled her from her pity party. She almost forgot that Elsie was a muggle and it was still odd hearing someone ask what charms was. "Charms are spells that change an object or change it somehow. Like.. changing somethings color or making something smaller or bigger. You can use charms to fix stuff or to make things float. I think there are a lot of charms wizards use in combat too but I've only ever seen my parents cast charms around the house to assist in house work or when my mother works in her garden. She has charms that make plants grow quicker and make their flowers bloom. Or making an object into a portkey requires a charm. I guess charms are what you could consider to be the largest and most versatile types of spells. I'm sure you'll catch on quick." Kyra did her best to explain as they just kinda walked around the halls, still unaware they were being followed. Plenty of students were also out and about so Kyra paid no mind to the two walking a few paces behind them. She continued to try her best to explain charms, but she honestly didn't know that much. Her mother lectured her from time to time about spells, the kinds of spells she used and general wizardry knowledge, but now that she was being asked about it, those lecutres seemed to evaporate from her brain. Kyra was pretty sure she wouldn't grow up to be a professor. After a while she just gave up properly trying to explain the difference between Charms, Transfiguration, and the various spells they would use in classes like defense against the dark arts. "I think it would just be better to let the teachers tell you." Kyra probably could have even produced her wand and produced a few simple charms if she tried. She may not have been able to actually use magic until now, but she was sure those lectures and prep sessions with her mother before Hogwarts first year started would come back to her if she wanted them to.

"I don't think were going to find our classes by just randomly walking around.." She finally had to admit after they had climbed a set of stairs and moved through a couple more halls. Kyra had an idea and turned her head to the left and right. perfect she thought to herself as she spotted a familiar boy she thought was a third year. She was pretty sure his name was Eldrick, or something close to that. He was the son of one of her fathers friends and since Kyra had been unfortunate enough to of been dragged to many birthday parties for other well off wizarding families, she had gotten rather familiar with the names and faces of a number of kids, including some who were attending Hogwarts. It was time to put her mothers teaching position in the school, and her fathers influence within the ministry to good use. Kyra tapped on Elsie's shoulder and pointed at the boy. She had briefly thought about dragging Elsie over there too and introducing her as Professor Nicholais's daughter but she thought it would be going too far and wasn't sure if Elsie would appreciate Kyra doing so. "Wait here a second. I'll get directions to all our classes tomorrow."

Under normal circumstances, Kyra wouldn't have done this but she felt it was her duty to have a better day tomorrow. She hated using her mother as leverage but she was desperate to start tomorrow off on the right foot. Kyra straightened and with more grace than Elsie had probably ever seen from her yet, walked over to the boy. Eldrick had been in the middle of a conversation with an Hufflepuff girl and her sudden approach seemed to catch Eldrick off guard. Eldrick was a tall, lanky black boy with short cut hair. His speech was accented, his family being a prominent wizarding family from south africa. The girl he was talking to excused herself, much to the boys chagrin. Kyra put on her best smile and chatted with the boy for about a minute, keeping the conversation brief and to the point. As expected, the boy coughed up directions uncomfortably before he excused himself and rushed off. Kyra waited till he was gone, and her straight posture and highfaluting smile went away. She brushed a strand of hair back and made her way back.

Having grown up with siblings, cousins and simple Farm Life; Gina was used to people talking while they ate. Yet this was still very disgusting and she was not able to make out any of fawns mumbles when fun finally spoke real words, Gina was confused. this was not the first time she had mentioned a unicorn. "I dont know about this fawn..." she sighed not sure if she should bother to explain what a hallucination was. And she did make a personal vow to take care of her new friend, make sure she would not get into trouble and cause trouble for their house. "Are you really sure you saw a unicorn?" She asked, but was reasured that the unicorn was not only real, the ohoenix was too. Gina frowned then shrugged as she gathered her belongings. With how little she knew about this ,agical world, she was willing to give this a try. Besides, she secretly loved faeries and unicorns.

When they left the room, she was a bit excited when Fawn was able to locate them. But, wait. They are just... girls. Gina realized as she glanced to where Fawn was pointing. She almost said something but Fawn looked so sure, so 'this is obvious!' That Gina had to pause. She eyed the girls and frowned. Wait a minute. I remember them. They were Ravenclaws, ones that people were whispering about during the sorting ceremony. Was there such a thing as Human unicorns? "But... they look so normal..." She said out loud to fawn, trying to understand how those two girls could be a unicorn and a phoenix. So... we follow them, and... then what? Gina realized there was no then what. Did Fawn have a plan? "Are we going to talk to them or something?" She asked as thry followed the girls about through the school. It seemed like they were just wandering around without any destination. surprised

"Normal?! Oh Gina... I look normal. Me, see, this is what normal looks like." Fawn informed, pointing at herself from multiple different angles, flipping her hair up, and pointing to her hand me down clothes and frumpled brown hair. "Those two are hardly normal." Fawn lectured and turned her came to a instant stop as the pair ahead of them did so too. For a moment Fawn thought that maybe they had been spotted, but the two girls had exchanged some words and the unicorn then broke off. Fawn got visibly excited and tugged on Gina's sleeve and pointed to the silver haired girl. "See! See see see see! Just look at how she walks. So regal, so straight. Only a mythical creature like a Unicorn can walk like that." She informed gleefully, with high pitched excitement in her voice. This was her opportunity, not to get to the Unicorn, but this left the phoenix alone. Fawn's original plan was to throw a burlap sack over the girls body, drag her off somewhere, and then use her as bait to lure the Unicorn girl to them.. or something. Problem was, Fawn nor Gina had a burlap sack and Fawn wasn't one hundred percent sure that Gina would be one hundred percent behind that plan. So plan B! "Okay, one of them is alone. Lets go!" Fawn grabbed Gina and dragged her over to the red-headed girl, planting herself right infront of the girl. "Good morning! Blimey, you've got the reddest hair I ever saw. Can you speak bird?" Fawn didn't waste anytime as words started to pour out from her mouth. "And is it true that if you die, you come back to life, oh and I'm Fawn. This is Gina. She thinks your normal, but I just had to come over here and prove her wrong. Can I have one of your feathers?"

Ok so, today had been a train wreck of a day but at least the food there was fantastic. Elsie had decided as she once again had a pocket filledwith snacks for later. This time Pyx was in the other and she had the feeling she would often have that ferret with her. While she and Kyra walked and talked, Elsie decided she was super excited to learn what charms were; she just HAD to learn them. NOW. "Wait... I have a broken wand... will that make a difference?" she asked then she paused, "Wait! Maybe we can repair it!" she started to get excited at trying a spell; a real spell. She was a bit disappointed though that it was probably better to have a teacher have them tell us the difference between all the spells, but it made sense. She did not learn stupid French without teachers. Although, she did learn other things through reading... maybe she can try out some later.

Elsie had decided this was the best plan, learning the map of the school whenever they had free time and they would never be late to classes again. In fact, while they were walking up the changing steps, Elsie was starting to calculate the time it took and she realized... this was completly different than the last time they used the steps. Oh... come on!!! And they expect us to use these stairs daily and still be on time for class??? She thought in frustration and exaustion. Wait... that will mean... others will be late to class too! We wont be the only ones to have blemishes on our points. She pratically happy danced at that realization. She almost told Kyra, but would her friend enjoy the suffering of others? Hmmm. Let's wait and keep this glimmer of hope to ourself for now. She realized just as the reached the top of the steps.

Elsie had thought there would be students everywhere after dinner; but it seemed to take them forever before they were able to find a classmate and Kyra was able to ask for directions. Elsie would have asked; but ... let's face it. Kyra knew more people and was just better at this stuff. So, Elsie was glad when Kyra told her to wait there when she went off to ask the boy. Elsie even gave a reassuring thumbs up and a smile to her friend before she stood there waiting like an barmy fool. However, she had to wonder how Kyra knew the boy. Elsie watched the two talk for a bit for social cues, then grew bored. Kyra was way better at this. She was a natural at being polite and friendly to others. I don't knownhow she does it. Elsie thought as she plucked a piece of muffin from her pocket and nommed.

While she waited, Elsie decided to scritch Pyx on the head, and keep the cute ferret occupied. Sure she could have danced, or done lots of fun things during the wait, but with Pyx in her pocket she had to be careful. During her wait; Elsie was greeted by two classmates who seemed friendly enough; even if a bit odd. The two girls were Hufflepuffs it seemed, if Elsie remembered the banner correctly. One girl had wild dark hair and glasses while the other had coca colored skin and silver eyes. The two seemed to be complete opposites. One was a neat freak, a bit friendly and quiet while the other was a talker, messy and a bit... pushy. Glancing at Kyra still talking to the boy, Elsie decided to handle things on her own.

"Uh, good evening. And, um thanks I guess." She started to say when she realized the girl with wild hair asked if she spoke bird. She paused to hear more, hearing wild accusations about dying and coming back to life... and not being normal and having feathers. At least one of them thinks I'm normal.... wait... Elsie realized and a wide grin came to her face. "Fawn, was it? Wow. You're really somethin. Figured out all that with just my red hair and stuff. Gotta tell ya a secret though. Our feathers are super special. Only given out at special times." She said sounding quite impressed, she then leaned forward in a whisper; "And we phoenixes like apples... like daily. so ya know. if ya ever want to share...." She had to tease this girl. I mean, this one was a cabbage. A downright cabbage head. "You're Gina right? You know anything about the phoenix curse?" She said; wondering if the other one was as dumb as her friend.

------------------------------------------------

Gina sighed when fawn had said she was the one who looked normal, not those two girls. Gina was not sure how to respond to that. "Fawn, I see no difference between you and them." She said, not understanding. However she had to question what normal was. After all, she had thought she was normal and it turned out she was a witch. So while she was lost in thought they followed the two girls and Gina decided to observe for herself to see what made those girls so different. After all, their names had caused some whispers by others. Gina came from a small town; and people kept to themselves. Ok, there was gossip; but most of the west side was family; and the southern side was just... full of weird people who ... Gina actually paused. She was not sure what made them weird; but according to her parents they were weird and she should not visit their farm. Frowning, Gina realized she really had little exposure to different kinds of people. Now being in a school that was all kinds of people; Gina had a huge wake up call.

Once Fawn pulled her over to the red-haired girl, and they started to talk Gina was not sure what to believe. At first the girl seemed unsure and seemed a bit stand offish. To be fair; with the odd questions Fawn had been asking her; I would be too. Gina sighed about to try and stop her new friend. But then the strangest thing happened. The girl actually started to agree with Fawn! Say Phoenixes rarely lost their feathers and that they liked apples. Who knew! Was it a trick? Or were all witches and wizards somehow related to magical creatures? Wow what if I was related to like a mermaid or something. That would be wonderful! Gina was dreaming of learning all kinds of fun facts of being a witch; and when the Phoenix girl turned to her she was curious about this curse. Sounded scary. "I know nothing about curses. Is it bad?" She asked, rather uneasy; but still curious. Fawn sure as heck better stay away from it.
