Sami saw Colleen’s pain when the elder lifted the younger’s chin. She slowly nodded as the assassin listened. Sami knew she had to accept it. It has been 3 years since she had lost her family, but there were so many regrets. She felt like she could have been a better daughter and a better friend. If she had been more understanding and accepting to her mother and step-father, stopped her crush from leaving, or stayed with her best friend, they would all still be alive. That feeling was what kept Sami in the past. In an odd way, the girl felt like she didn’t deserve happiness. Not until her role in this war has ended, rather from old age or the enemy. In her mind, this was her penance for being the angry and selfish brat she was as a child.

Once the silence was broken and Colleen continued, Sami’s heart broke again at the news. When the blonde placed a hand on her shoulder, the girl nodded.
“You’re right. They all would.. “
With a soft smile, Sami set her cocoa on the desk and hugged the woman like a child would their mother.
“Thank you, Ma’am. And I wish you the best.”
After a moment had passed, Sami stood from her chair before picking up the letter.
“ I guess I should deliver this to Mr. James. Hopefully, he has calmed down a bit.”
With another thankful and caring smile, the girl left the meeting room after offering to fetch another coffee for Colleen.

It didn’t take very long to find James in the shooting range. Sami had been his partner long enough to know where to look first when he wanted to blow off some steam. Once there, the girl waited a few moments before calling out to the sniper while holding out the letter.
“Sir? This came for you. It’s from Ryder.”

As soon as William's piece was over, a sizable applause came from behind him. The brunette jumped a little as he turned around, seeing the decent-sized crowd that had come into the lounge. Naiiko could only giggle as she left her seat at the bar to come join the others.

"When did they all get here?" William asked as the crowd started to disperse.

"While you were playing." Naiiko responded. " You were so focused that didn't hear them come in."

William just smiled and rubbed his head. He knew that the staff liked to hear him play and would often use his music to put themselves at ease. He always had an available audience, a feat that not many musicians could claim. The ninja leaned against the wall as William started to play around with the piano.

"That really was a beautiful piece that you played." she said.

"Thanks. I was really in the mood to craft something a few weeks ago and that piece just came out. I'm very proud of it, but I haven't come up with a name yet."

"I see. So...have you finished composing Sami's piece yet?"

"Well, thus far I'm stuck on the 2nd strain. I had something going, but my creative juices were halted due to my trip to Borneo and-"

He stopped talking as his hands slammed down on the keys, releasing many sour notes into the lounge. He slowly turned his head to face Naiiko, who had a cheshire grin posted on her face. His eyes were wide and his face turned beet-red.

"H-h-h-how did you know about that?!"

"I'm a ninja," she responded cooly. "It's kind of my job to know stuff."

She smiled and headed back to the bar. William quickly scrambled after her to ensure that his infatuation with Sami would remain between the two of them.

James was finishing up his last clip when he heard a soft voice calling out to him. Before turning he already knew who it was. He turn to see it was Sami like he thought. He then noticed that she was holding a latter. He put down his sniper and walked over to the girl. He was pretty much done. If one where to look down the range they would see that the targets he was shooting at, weren't even there anymore, just bits and pieces of what the targets use to be.
James - From Ryder you say?
The sniper then took the latter from Sami, opened it and began to read. As he read the latter he would nod a few times. After he finished it he pulled out his lighter and lit the paper on fire.
James - It seems Ryder is ready. Understood.
James knew that Ryder would be as reliable as she always is, but since he messed up and got Russell killed, his next mission he had in mind he was sure make it a success. He just needed to run it by Inanna first though......this one could take some time.
James - Thank you Sami.
He then looked to the girl and he could tell the girl had been crying. He thought to himself that she must have questions for him. Well this is the best time to tell her then ever. No use keeping her in the dark any more.
James - You have questions don't you? About you parents and what not.
PostPosted: Fri Jun 19, 2015 4:02 pm

Sami just nodded as James took the letter. As he read it, the girl looked down the stall the sniper was standing moments ago to see fragments of the targets. This didn’t surprise her in the least, though. She was used to seeing such things from him. Her thoughts were soon interrupted when she heard his voice. Looking back at James, Sami looked down and nodded. She did have question, a lot of them. Too many to even count and she didn’t even know where to begin or if this was even the time for answers. They did just lost an important member, not to mention the files that was stolen and both of them pretty much being grounded for the time being.
“Yes, sir…”

Shelby took what William said to heart and agreed with him, for the most part. "Yes, it's a shame what that girl is going through right now. My heart goes out to her as well. I don't think I would have endured such shocking news so easily at her age." The doctor shook her head in disgust at the situation. "She really does need to slow down truly absorb what happened. Ignoring it may eventually cause more emotional damage otherwise."

Shelby's demeanor slightly shifted as she looked at William. Although she could empathize with his feelings, the eyes of a brutal mercenary stared down the young man. Even more strangely her smile never wavered. "We all must do better out there to ensure no one dies needlessly. At the same time, while on mission, do not act recklessly. It only ensures the enemy's moral victory. Rashness in the field will get us all killed." The doctor spoke from experience. There was a time when she cared little about her teammates. If they died while on mission, well, it was part of the gamble you played with your life.

Her gaze then softened as she caught herself giving away too much. "We all know not to act that way out there, it's true. But given the circumstances I think the risk to fall into temptation is too great to ignore. This is probably why we're on base restriction right now. I don't necessarily disagree with leadership's decision." Shelby's eyebrows suddenly quirked a bit in amusement. "Besides, I think we all have a little homework we need to do. We all have to make sure our callsigns have been properly scrubbed. If you need a hand William, please let me know."

(In response to Dk's post)

~35 Minutes Earlier~

As William listened to Shelby speak, he noted the change in her demeanor. She became deathly serious when talking about rashness in the field. Though he was young, William was not foolish. He realized that just as easy as he could put a bullet through someone's head, the exact same may happen to him. With a life like this, death could strike anyone at a moment's notice. Even the leader of the Noe Union wasn't safe from losing her life.

The doctor then made a point about going through their undercover aliases and making sure there were no connections to their true identity. She asked if William needed any help in scrubbing his callsign clean, to which the ranger took a few moments to think. When he's out in the field, he usually went by the name of Lucas Ingram, a blonde-haired blue-eyed brit who worked for the Noe. He performed the role of his alter ego down to the letter, even going so far as to master the british accent. He did everything he could to make sure that his identity and the connection to his wealthy family would never be discovered.

"Well, I'm pretty sure that none of the Kepi have pieced the connection between Lucas and myself. However, having an extra set of eyes is never a bad thing." he said. "If you have the time, I'll go over some of Lucas' records with you to make sure everything is fine."

His stomach then gurgled suddenly. All this time, he had completely forgotten about eating. He chuckled and rubbed his neck.

"Well it seems like I could use some food. I'm going to the Lounge. When you're finished here, you should join me."

~Current Time~

William sat next to Naiiko as she continued to drink her hot tea. He was relatively nervous about the woman having discovered that he was infatuated with Sami. He wanted to make sure that she would keep it a secret.

"So...how long have you known?" he asked her.

"Ehhhh, for awhile now." she replied. "It's not really all that hard to guess. But don't worry. I don't think Sami knows and I have no intention of telling her."

Breathing a deep sigh of relief, William slumped a bit at the bar as his order of food was served.

"Thanks so much, Naiiko. I want to tell her. I just...I haven't been able to put it into words yet."

"I see. And that's why you're working on the song. I feel like that's the perfect method for you to convey your emotions to her."

"That's right!" he agreed. "Another reason why I need to finish it soon."

"Well, do what you must." she said. "But when you do tell her, be sincere. Spend as much time with her as you can. Love and cherish her. Because with this life...you never know what day could be your last..."

The ninja then took another sip of her tea.

Isn't that right, Karin?

~Time ago~
Analiese chuckled. A bead of sweat left from her once the sword pressed to her neck.
"F-f-feisty..."

Naiiko had withdrew herself quickly, in a panic.
Fatal had placed a hand on his katana. Given, he could not have protected Analiese from dying; he would only have been able to strike Naiiko down afterwards. That was a side of the ninja Fatal didn't expect to see.

Once Naiiko was reassured by Fatal and Analiese that there were no hard feelings, and this was all practice, the session seemed to end. Naiiko soon left, and the practice for the day ended.

~Now~
Something about the waterfall gave Fatal peace. Although it was generally irrelevant to him, it was pleasant to look at it. It calmed him, for whatever reason.

Standing close to it, staring into the waterfall's soul, Analiese soon walked over and joined him.
"Yikes. Guess Ninja Girl hates me now." She said.
"Don't tread on it." Fatal said. "She let her instincts take over--akin to a second form. She did not have much control over herself. Her inner discipline requires work."
"Yeah... Hey, if she attacked, you had her, right? To make sure I didn't die?"
"...Yes. I could have protected you."

Lying wasn't one of Fatal's character traits. But Analiese needed to trust Naiiko. Analiese's faith in CQC soldiers already wavered. Losing any further trust in them wasn't good for her morale.

"Oh, good. I was a little nervous there. But you were watching, you know? You...relax me. It's nice."
"Sure."
"Although your taste in hats is questionable. Has anyone in your life judged you? Or do you live by your own social code?"
"Analiese."
"We're mission tied! Let's go drink! My. ********. Golly. Let's go; it'll be fun."

Drinking with this girl was a train wreck. But Fatal did love drinking. Maybe no one else would be around. Hopefully not.
"Very well. We may drink."
"Wow. 'We may drink.' Energetic. Ah, you'll loosen up. Let's go! Oh, and by the way, what's up with the waterfall? Isn't that Leader's?"
"Huh?"
"Inanna's. Doesn't she, like, use it?"
"...Does she? I see. I did not know that... That is weird..."
"Maybe you should tell her that."

Fatal shook his head. He made a move back to the main building where he could find the bar.
"I have never seen that waterfall serve purpose." Fatal said. "Wonder what reason she uses it."
"Ask her. Jeez. You just hate people, don't you? You... Oh, never mind. Waste of energy. Let's just go."

The two started to head back. Today might be a good time. But there was no telling. For now, they had few expectations and just wanted to get going. The day would make itself up as it went on.

The soldier saw the way Sami was looking at him and knew it was time to tell her the truth about her parents. He knew this day would come, but hoped it would have been in a better manner.
James - Follow me Sami.
He grabbed his sniper and shotgun and lead the girl on a walk around the base. The walk was quiet and he ended up taking the girl to a side of the base he wasn't even sure she had been on. They soon came up on a room that seemed to have not been used in a few years. He walked inside and turned the lights on. The lights flickered a bit before coming on. Once inside the room the first thing that could be notice was the flaming ninja emblem on the floor was the exact same as the one on James' armor.
James - Remember a while back when you ask me why don't I command a squad of my own.
He then turns and looks at her while leaning on a table.
James - It's because I had one....and everyone under my command is dead.
He looked around the room as dust had taken over the place. Old photos where completely covered. It was clear nobody has been in her for a while.
James - We where known as the SS Ninjas, and both of your parents where part of my team....

William nodded to Naiiko's words. The ranger knew full well that their lives were closely associated with death. Anyone of them could drop at anytime. Under those conditions, having a relationship seemed like asking for misfortune. But there are a few couples in the Noe Union that seemed to be getting by, despite the whole "Death" issue. So maybe there was hope for William yet.

"I completely understand you, Naiiko." he said to her, "When I first discovered these feelings for Sami, I tried to bury them. I just kept thinking 'if something were to happen to her while we were dating, I'd go insane'."

"But then I realized...if something were to happen to her now, I'd still go insane. I...have feelings for Sami. I want to get to know her better and...I don't know, just spend time with her and be with her."

The ninja gave the blushing male a warm smile as she took another sip of her tea.

"So I take it she's well worth the fight?"

"I'd say so." he answered. "I understand that we're fighting for freedom of choice and expression, but...the motivation is much stronger when you're fighting for the person you care about."

Naiiko stopped and looked at William as he started to tear into his food. Feeling her eyes on him, he looked up from the sandwich with an inquisitive look on his face.

"Is something wrong?"

"No, it's nothing." she quickly replied, "It's just....I.....There's only been one other person to say that to me."

"Oh really? Who?" he asked. The ninja returned her gaze to her tea, a warm smile on her face.

"Karin Inari."

Sami followed James, keeping her head down in thought. Just where was he taking her and why wait till now tell the assassin about her family? She did trust him. She had been his partner for nearly 3 years, so of course she trusted the sniper with her life. The questions still remained.
When she noticed the scenery changed, Sami looked up to find themselves in a different part of the base. It seemed familiar but she couldn’t remember it. Probably due to the fact she kept herself busy with chores, helping others around the place or tinkering with her hidden weapon design. Once James led her inside, the girl looked around, nodding to his question. Sami quickly noticed the photos, but one in particular caught her attention. Picking up the old frame, the girl wiped the thick dust from it, revealing a red-haired swordswoman. The sight of her mother brought tears to Sami’s eyes. It was then James spoke about his team. The name made the young assassin stifle a chuckle. SS. Ninjas didn’t seem to fit the stoic, military-minded sniper. Looking back at Scarlet’s picture, seeing how focused and deadly the woman looked, it didn’t fit her either.

“Not all died under your command. So, it's not your fault.”

Shebly had finished her target practice and felt refreshed. Perhaps she will join William later. Collecting all the firearms, Shelby brought them to the check in counter at the range and asked for a cleaning kit. She didn't think it right that she not clean the weapons she used. Although the arms-man insisted it wasn't necessary, Shelby stood there stubbornly until he handed the kit over. She was one who could tear down a firearms blindfolded, clean it and reassemble it in record time. It was a favorite little mercenary pastime amongst her peers and a great gambling opportunity. Despite the fact she could easily clean each weapon in under two minutes, she took her time and cleaned and oiled each thoroughly. Within a span of twenty minutes, all six weapons were attended to. With a smile she brought everything back to the check in desk and thanked him for allowing her to take care of the weapons.

Leaving the training hall, Shelby meandered about the base, casually strolling her way back to the third floor of the main building. Of course she couldn't help but make a stop at the waterfall. She always loved this peaceful place. If she wasn't firing weapons in order to unwind, she could easily be found here, sitting silently among the smooth rocks and staring at the rush of moving water for perhaps an hour or more. If she wasn't hungry then she probably would have stayed, but the pangs called to her so she strolled off towards the lounge.

Sam was hold the place down again and upon seeing her he made a nice cup of green tea. "Just got this one in Doc. Think you'll like it, it's Gyokuro Imperial." Shelby smirked as she took her tea in hand. "You know me too well Sam. I'll have to try harder next time." Laughing lightly she took a sip and nodded in satisfaction. "Mmm. That is the good stuff. Think you can whip me up something to snack on that goes with this?" Sam quickly nodded before she nodded back and scanned the room. Smirking to herself she walked over to the table where William and Naiiko were sitting. "Room for one more?" She asked with a warm and inviting smile.

Jezebel sighed, video games now-a-days were all the same. Why can't they ever make something more interesting? At the end of that thought, a light bulb went off in her head. Now that gave her an idea. Jez settled back comfortably in the plush seat. Wilson, her ever constant companion was seated close by...for the moment.

The hyper blonde had never claimed to be sane, in any representation of the word, could now be seen seating in the chair upside down with her feet over the back of the seat. Her stilettos were in the potted plant behind them. Her controller and tv were still the right way up and Wilson, positioned upside down along with his friend.

"I think this is much more interesting, Wilson," she smiled at the volleyball.

Adrien was pissed, why the hell does this always happen? The brunette male can never remember where the damn entrance was and now here he was; hand cuffed and being dragged around the Noe like a criminal. The fashionista had informed them who he was but just his luck, no one believed him. However, it seemed like his luck was beginning to change.

Content upon playing her game, the cannibal of the Noe didn't realize who was being paraded around the base in hand cuffs. Even less did she notice that they were taking him to the holding cells they had on base...the ones they rarely ever used. That was till she turned her head.

"HOLD ON ONE MINUTE!" she screeched at them, falling out of the chair with her outburst. The three men stopped and two of them, oddly enough the ones not wearing the unfashionable jewelry, all of a sudden looked smug with the thoughts of 'well this guy is gonna get it,' dancing around in their heads.

Jezebel rushed forward and launched herself at the cuffed man, knocking him to the ground, while she was on top of the man. "Adrien!! Why are you in handcuffs? Oh, I get it~, you were doing something naughty, weren't you?" she stated with a sly smile intact as she continued, "Did you come all the way here just to harass Nanni? Never mind, here I need you to go into the kitchen and sneak me out a plateful of cookies. Preferably, the caramel ones, those are Wilson's favorite."

"Wilson?" The British man questioned.

"Yeah, that's Wilson." she stated pointing to a very disturbing looking volleyball, who was still upside down in his seat. Smirking lightly, the Englishman just shook his head.

"Okay, deal, as soon as you tell these wonderful gentlemen to release me," pure pompousness coloring his words. Jezebel was on it in a second and stood up in a flash.

"You heard the man, let him go or I'll eat you." That was all the the blonde had to say as the two officers rapidly helped Adrien to his feet. One brushed him off while the other hurriedly undid the cuffs. As the Brit rubbed at his wrists, his two captors stood at the ready looking at their psycho superior. She had a finger to her lips and looked as if she was thinking, what she said caused a little bit of panic. "You know what, I might just eat you anyway!"

With that, Jezebel lunged at one of the officers. Both of them freaked out and took off down the hallway with the cannibal hot on their heels. Taking some form of pity on the men, Adrien, chased after them. "Jezebel, you know the rules! Not on base!"

"Try to stop me you British snob!"

"You have wonderful shoes~!"

"STAY AWAY FROM MY SHOES!!!"

William looked at Naiiko's face as she gazed into her tea. Her smile was so warm and comforting as she reminiscence about her old friend. He could've sworn that he even saw her blush a little bit too. This person who was close to the ninja truly peaked William's interest.

"You know, Naiiko." he said to her, "I've heard you mention your friend's name before on a couple of occasions. I know she's no longer with us, but I'm curious about her. What was she like? And how did the two of you become friends?"

The purple-haired woman simply giggled and took another sip of her tea.

"Hmm. I think I'll save that story for another time, okay?"

"Alright, but I'm holding you to it."

It was then that Shelby had decided to join them. William smiled and invited her to sit.

"Of course there's room. Have a seat, Shelby."

Naiiko took notice of the doctor and bowed respectfully while returning the smile.

"Good to you see you again, Shelby. How are things going?" she asked.

*There was a knock on Inanna's door. Regi and the Leader looked at one another for a second before they nodded to Nebula. Jumping from the chair he was seated on, Nebula sauntered to the door. The clouded leopard was obviously in no real hurry. He could tell who it was on the other side of the door.
Pulling on the rope, the cat opened the door once again. This time the last Noe lead was on the other side. When she entered the room, her first task was to close the door. After she turned around the woman could only raise an eyebrow at the sight in front of her. What was going on now? Did she miss something? Keeping up on people was one of the things she did best. There was barely anything that the woman didn't know in one form or another but this was beyond her.*
Colleen - Am I disturbing something?
*Regi still had his arm around the red haired leader, keeping her propped up. But this time he was also holding onto a playstation controller. They were playing video games together it looked like. Nothing harmful, but the way the blonde reacted to it was funny as sin as it caused Regi's head to fall back and meet the wall and Inanna to start laughing a little bit...still being mindful that she was in a good deal of pain, and would be for a while.*
Regi - Oh ha ha.
Inanna - No, I can't get back to sleep just yet, so Regi was playing my file of minecraft to try and get me to sleep. Fun to play...boring to watch though...
Regi - Which is the point. Anything happening on your end, mate?
*Sitting down, Nebula jumped into her lap. He was a bite of an attention hog and with his red head watching Regi, the cat was determined to get the love and care he desired. Colleen however, had no trouble in fulfilling that requirement that was now in front of her. After getting settled the woman relayed the news that she had happened upon.*
Colleen - Well, I have news. Apparently Adrien has returned to us...after being taken into custody by the patrol again. It was Jezebel who recognized him...and is now trying to eat the patrol with Adrien trying to stop her.
*The only reason Colleen knew this was the brief passing she had with Adrien. He was still chasing after Jez but was able to stop and give her a brief run down on what had happened before disappearing again. The blonde business woman was able to figure out the rest, Not that it was had to put the pieces together. Here was hoping he caught the little psycho.
This news though just caused Inanna to laugh again.*
Inanna - Never a dull moment, huh?
Colleen - Here? Never. I'm surprised though that nothing has exploded yet though. There is normally something breaking down.
*The Aussie laughed lightly this time before replying. Days like today were rather weird for the most part it was calm. Welcome but still kept the ones in charge on edge. Anything could happen on these days, after all they just got their fashionista back...although unless he is able to keep up with Jez, they might be down a couple officers...that wouldn't be good.*
Regi - Don't jinx it Colleen.

Nodding to both William and Naiiko, Shelby took a seat and got herself comfortable. "I'm as good as one can be given the current situation. The firing range really helped out on that one." Shelby had noticed some blushing and giggling the pair had shared before getting within earshot of their table. The doctor made no mention of this but was glad to see they were in good spirits. It was as if Shelby was excited about the prospect of a field mission coming soon; just had to wait out this cool down period.

Sam quickly showed with a smile and popped a plate full of senbei on the table. "Wow these little treats look really good Sam, you've outdone yourself. Thank you." Sam scratched the back of his head in clear embarrassment before nodding and returning to his station. Looking to the others at the table Shelby motioned to the little rice crackers. "Sam gave me way more than I can possible eat, please have some." Taking another sip of her gyokuro, Shelby reached down and delicately took one of the crackers. This variety was clearly a savory cracker with nori on top. Biting into the cracker, Shelby nodded her head in approval. It was just the right kind of saltiness to compliment the tea.

"So, what's your take on our next steps? Clearly there are some folk here with a thirst for revenge." Shelby delicately placed her teacup on the table befoer peaking her fingers together in front of her face. Vengeance was something of a base fulfillment in the doctor's eyes, but she was not above the pleasure, given the proper opportunity. Most, if not all of her bloodthrist was hidden behind a demure mask of contentment.
