“I don’t know what you’re trying to get at, kid, but you’re not doing yourself any favors.”
Palatine had no idea where this conversation was going and frankly she didn’t care. Maybe she should. Maybe it would have been better if she’d put more of an effort into making friends, but she’d never really wasted time on things like that before and it was bit difficult to motivate herself in that regard. Why bother starting after all this time? Besides, it wasn’t like she wasn’t being friendly. She just wasn’t being friendly friendly.
This kid just… who knows. Maybe he didn’t know what he was talking about, or maybe he was just trying to rile her up or push some buttons to whatever end he’d concocted in his underdeveloped little brain. He couldn’t be more than… what? Twenty? Somewhere around there. She had a kid around his age, in any case, and she got enough attitude and weird moods from him to last her a lifetime.
It made dealing with other people’s kids so exhausting.
But she could deal—just tell herself he didn’t know any better and leave it at that.
Lassell’s punch landed along her lower ribs, earning a “That’s better, I guess,” from Palatine before she used the opportunity to reach for his wrist with the intention of keeping him in close proximity so that the knee she lifted up might hit him in the gut.

"It's called taking advantage of a weakness. Those shoes won't protect you from much." And he knew it wasn't perhaps the most fair of shots to take. But this was a spar and thus a mock fight? Right? So why play fair? It didn't mean he'd go for a low blow but stomping on a foot was another thing altogether as far as the dark haired teen was concerned. Not to mention he was no fighter, had no background with fighting, and so for him it was a shot he'd take.
"I did try not to break anything, if it's any consultation." He didn't want to break anything, just bruise or inflict some pain. His words were kind, well meaning and genuine, but perhaps lacking somewhere. Like having to explain things and give a halfassed apology but it was how he was. At least he wasn't going to kick or attack the other again while he was...down. Let the other at least get his feet under himself again before they continued.

Maia frowned at the squabbling pair of chibis, knowing they needed training too, but feeling torn. She had long ago accepted the presence of chibis, but moment like this made remember just how young they were. She was a bit frustrated with the situation, but she decided to try a different approach.
"Stop it both of you," looking from one senshi to the other and back again, "I know this might sound like a lot, but being a senshi is a big responsibility and training is apart of the responsibility. We want to help each other get stronger, get to know each other and learn from each other,so we all can get better. Thats hard to do if you maim someone and than they dislike you for and it don't want anything to do with you."
She looked to Columba, "while biting a negaverser might be a good tatic, biting you ally is not. You could have really hurt him, you're stronger right now that you typically would be." She pulled at her jacket exposing her shoulder where a scar resided and stooped down, "see that ... a negaverse bit me, took away skin and a bit more too, I think. Hurt like you wouldn't believe. Wouldn't want to do that to someone who is on the same side as you huh?"
She looked to Euphrosyne, "and this is a spar. It's bound to get rough. Her jumping on you wasn't actually a bad move, just the biting was a bit much. Remember that this is about learning to fight to defend youself," she said not that she really though many would attack the tiny child before her. "She jumped on you, but she also got close to you. You could have taken advantage of that and head butted her or something to that effect."
She looked at both once more, "want to try again or would you like to try to um hit me instead. I bet you can't."

Not reacting to upsetting things was far easier said than done. Irene wore her emotions on her newly-fancified sleeves, and she couldn't just leave them behind for after the fight. It wasn't what she did. And the more her opponent pointed out her obvious tension, the more tense she felt. For a moment, she wondered if he was doing that on purpose, and her temper flared. She let herself move with his shove, so it didn't throw her off balance, and immediately went back in, this time aiming for his side, where she hoped his guard would be less prevalent.
That whole moving-with-the-blow thing was something that Iris had been trying to teach her. This was the first time she managed to do it in an actual fight- if a spar could be called that- and she was quite proud of herself. Thinking of it in those terms made her realize that her opponent reminded her a little bit of Iris, in the way that he was pointing out where she needed to fix things, not caring if she was offended of not. That made it both more and less comfortable to fight him.
As suggested, Irene took a deep breath, and then charged in again, trying to get behind the squire. If she could land an attack at the backs of his knees, that might bring him down enough for her to reach his upper-body more reliably. His comments were interesting, but responding would take energy that she would rather spend on getting this right.

It was quite evident that Irene was up against a sparring veteran, since his criticisms seemed to be well placed. He didn't seem to be in any rush to show Irene up either, which was perhaps a blessing in disguise. It meant that the girl would get more out of this exercise than some of the others would possibly get.
For *********, it was quite obvious that Irene had been working with Iris. She was far from being a master of Iris' tactics, but the fact she was picking some things up was encouraging.
Sessrumnir's plucky little comment got the feline to chuckle, but she still continued to do her job at the moment, eyes following the movement of both. "Just keep in mind that she does also need practice in defense too, not just offense..."

Sirene Naiads So sorry, I could have sworn I tagged you back ... -__-; Pharos nodded," sort of like that, though I'm not sure how much astrology has to do with it. It's more just them being the senshi of those constellation." The zodiacs themselves weren't terrible active or at least with each other anyway, and Pharos didn't have a very good understanding of most of them outside the surrounding event and any brief meeting they had. Pharos probably wasn't the best person to ask.
When Phact said she was ready, the tiny page wasted no time charging right at Phact, fully intending to send an open palmed blow right into the senshi's stomach. She was no newbie to sparring, even though most other's out matched her in height and weight. She could hold her own well enough.

Lassell shrugged "I wasn't planning on doing myself any favors" he told her as she grabbed his wrist to knee him in the gut. He wasn't really paying too much attention to her movements but he was pretty certain that was something important, not all pages could predict their opponents next move, not unless they were one to pay attention to detail.
He got winded when her aim hit its target, he staggered for a moment or two to catch his breath before aiming a combo of a kick towards the back of her legs and taking hold of her wrist and hitting her in the mid section of her back to knock her forward.

Palatine struggled not to roll her eyes like a child at a child.
Lassell’s quick execution of a succession of moves succeeded in landing her on the mat, though rather than going down alone she had every intention of trying to pull him down with her. She made no move to wrench her wrist out of his grasp, and in case he should let go she endeavored to return the favor, reaching out to try wrapping her fingers around his wrist again.
Hey, if she had to go down in an embarrassing defeat by a kid a little less than half her age, she was at least going to try to go down with some company.
“Okay, not bad,” she said.
That was it, wasn’t it? He’d gotten his three hits and she was on the ground. She was more than willing to admit defeat if it meant this awkward debacle could end.
“So this match is yours then. Great… um… effort…”
Only she couldn’t really say either of them had put as much effort into it as they probably should have if engaged in combat with a real enemy, but since this was just practice there wasn’t any point in stressing about it. She’d focus on adopting a more serious attitude about it all later. For now she was still trying to process everything and not feel as if she’d landed smack dab in the middle of some cosmic joke.

Luxor nodded his head. He was a stoic sort and he was not the most open with his thoughts and feelings. Sometimes it looked like he did not even have either of those, when he was too deep in thought. In fact, though. The more he felt, the more stoic he became.
Right now, then, he seemed at ease and friendly enough, though inside he was still confused and trying to keep up with everything going on around him. But at least he had some battle experience under his belt now?
"You did well, don't worry," he said, his tone smooth but his words sincere enough. He even offered her a small smile, in an effort to calm her nerves and her self deprecating words. If she was as new as he was, then she had done well enough.
He nodded his head.
"I wouldn't mind being able to practice more, and it might help both of us. We could improve our own skills before we try to... be like them." He looked over toward the more powerful people in the room, wondering how it all worked.

"She can practice plenty of defense against youma. Irene's lasted this long, so it's obvious she knows how to fend for herself, or at least run away," he grinned, sparing a glance towards the small cat as he kept on the defense, himself.
Despite her inexperience, she did have her smaller stature and speed on her side. Even he was surprised at how quick she was on her feet, never having had the reason to fight a senshi before, much less a Super. She had the right motivation now, and the right idea in movement. If only she could loosen up and maybe gain a bit more confidence in herself. Not that Sessrumnir could claim to know her... at all. But there was nothing wrong with a little more confidence on one's side.
The squire ducked down, ready to fend off an attack to his torso, but in the process apparently missed her change in movement and found his knees buckling beneath him from a sudden strike from behind. Yeah, she definitely had speed on her side.

Talking wasn't supposed to be on the agenda, but Irene decided that sparing a breath would be better than being talked about like she wasn't there."'She' will take whatever type of experience granted to her. But it wouldn't do not to take her seriously." Because if there was one thing she couldn't stand, it was people not taking her seriously.
And now that he was down on her level, she was going to take full advantage. Irene quickly rose up and, still behind Sessrumnir, clasped her hands together with the intent of driving them into the small of his back. Repeatedly, if that was what it took to get him on the ground (or rather, on the mat, which she was glad she'd thought to bring). She would show him that he couldn't just dismiss her abilities like that!

Pompeii snorted in disbelief and shook her head, "A five year old could have done better than I did." But she had a plan to fix that. Working at a bookstore made reserch very easy. I wonder if its worth looking into things like self defense classes or something, she thought as she watched the others fight or finish up fighting. She was glad that Luxor seemed to agree with her. Maybe with his help she could actually get better at this fighting thing, after all using a branch won't always be possible. "Learn to walk before run, we must." She tried saying in her best yoda voice but it ended up sounding like a odd muppet. Pompeii coughed to cover her embarrassment over the bad joke and nodded her agreement. "Practice would be nice. And... um.... if you need to research something, you know like your wonder, you can come to my bookstore." She turned away and watched the others. "Oh, I know someone who could help answer questions if you want them answered." She said as she saw Zia and remembered Camelot. The older knight really seemed to have a good grasp of the whole Kknight thing and Pompeii was still glad that Zia dragged her to him... quite literally.

Luxor had no bar for comparison, really, so he nodded his head patiently, and tried not to look vexed. He was a stoic and calm kind of person, for the most part, but his temper could be short and the more uncomfortable he got, the more tense he became, and the shorter his fuse was. He did not want to get into that situation though, so he was trying to keep himself from thinking too much about anything.
He might start freaking out, when it settled that he was now some super hero in a towel.
Luxor wasn't sure what she was talking about, when she mentioned Wonders, but he nodded his head and even offered a thin smile. She seemed nice enough and she was trying her best to offer help while trying to help them both.
"I appreciate any help I could get, but I think for tonight I just... need to wrap my head around things. Thank you for sparring with me."

There hadn’t three strikes – in fact Athene hadn’t managed to land a single hit on Pomona – but it seemed that their ‘spar’ was pretty much over. Mayhaps stumbling over counted for three hits at once. He couldn’t be sure and it would probably tactless, if not rude to bring it up.
And anyway despite the fact that Athene was happy enough to continue – he personally thought himself as a pretty lousy fighter and therefore could do with the help – Pomona seemed busy talking to Chaonis, and he didn’t want to interrupt
He glanced around the room instead, trying to take note of some of the other spars going on around them. Until they got paired up with their next ‘opponents’ mayhaps he could pick up something by watching what the others were doing.

Sessrumnir's eyes narrowed, the amusement and determination all but gone from his expression. He put his hands out to catch himself as Irene hit drove her hands into his back, holding back a wince and the urge to try and deliver a kick to her abdomen as she continued her assault.
"Okay, we're done," he said lowly, no longer smiling or trying to offer friendly suggestions or advice. He'd tried to help her, but instead he took his efforts and turned it into some kind of attack on herself. "This match is over," he said to make sure she'd actually heard him as he pushed himself back up from the mat, and taking a few steps away from her.
"Don't give me that bullshit like I'm not taking you seriously. Since you forget to recall, you hadn't answered anything I said for a while. The cat was talking to me, and I was responding since you seemed to be in your own little world," he told her, reaching back to rub at one of the spots she'd hit, not caring how strange it sounded to say he was talking to a cat. "I thought you were babysitting her, but clearly the cat's the one looking after you." What with her inability to keep herself in check.
"This was a training exercise. I was trying to help you, but since you have all that under control, good luck with your life. What are you, anyway? The Senshi of 'Let's beat up on any and all teammates trying to take the time and help me out since I'm clearly better than them and have selective hearing and get super offended about stupid things'?? Because if it's not, I sure hope your sphere is 'Birds'," he concluded with a nod towards her brooch.
He wasn't stupid. He was fairly certain of what her sphere must be with the combination of her name and symbol, but he wondered if she even cared. But if she had nothing to respond with, he was more than happy to take his leave, and give the cat a small nod, for at least she had earned some respect, unlike this little girl.
