Bornes put his hand up to refuse the crackers.

He took another sip of the beer, shaking his head slightly. This wasn't going to get him drunk. But he considered himself a slight bit of a masochist. And tasting something horrible wasn't as painful, but did do its job.

"Well enough," he lied. His back was sore and his head still was as well. "You?"

"Tossed and turned for hours," he mused, shrugging. "My legs feel like I ran a marathon, but other than that, all right." He chowed down on the remainder of the crackers, one cheek bulging slightly as he did so before he finished his perrier to wash the salt out of his mouth.

Bornes let out a soft chuckle before finishing the beer and grunting as he put it back on the counter.

He shook his head slightly and coughed. "Let's go," he rasped, going back toward the Duffel bag and slinging it over his shoulder.

"Choose the direction and let us just go."

Isiah sighed. "You wanna take all this stuff or not?" He opened his hand for the duffel bag, shaking his head back and forth. It pained him to think he was going to leave the beer.. but.. he couldn't in good conscience make the canine carry it for him.

He stopped in his tracks and gently put down the bag again. "Oh. I'm sorry; it slipped my mind."

He unzipped the bag and went back to get the things and dump them in the bag.

Isiah chuckled a little. His friend was frazzled. He couldn't figure out if it was from the gay comment or from the .. rude awakening this morning, but one way or another, he had his panties in a bunch and it was plainly obvious to anyone with eyes. He walked after him, helping him pack the bag neatly before zipping it up. "I think it's my turn, if you don't mind," he offered, looking up at him, trying to read his face to see exactly what was wrong.

Once Isiah began to pack the bag, Bornes took a back seat to the action and watched, feeling a bit helpless. Had the world still been in tact, Bornes would be playing the part of the mysterious man one didn't want to mess with. Bornes had kept with the act all through the vault and yesterday, but today there seemed almost no point in keeping it. Isiah would find out eventually, if he hadn't already, and Bornes was still exausted. He was not a morning person, and the way he had woken up didn't make it any better.

At the suggestion of Isiah carrying the bag, Bornes shifted his weight almost uncomfortably. "You're not used to distance walking, and with that much weight...." He let the thought escape his unsure lips and hang as he took a small step back.

Bornes suddenly didn't like Isiah. He had been interesting at first, but had never pegged him as a homosexual. Being gay was acceptable for Bornes. As long as he wasn't being forced to see the action he was fine with that, and wasn't going to judge Isiah as a lesser man for it-- at least, not intentionally. But being gay was normally something Bornes could at least pick up on, get a hint of, and no such thought had ever crossed the hybrid's mind. If such a huge part of Isiah's character was completely lost, what other assumptions Bornes had made were false? What else could this man hide?

He shook his head. Stay calm, Bornes. Stay confident. Now of all times is not one to question yourself. Never question yourself.
"You said you were tired before," he finally remarked, his body steadying, become less nervous. "I'm used to walking long distances with weight. I should hold the bag until we're sure your stamina is well enough. It would be no good for either of us if one of us pulled a muscle or were too tired to walk for a day."

Though, as soon as Bornes said it, he thought to himself: Why would it matter how quickly they leave town? There's nothing anymore. Nothing. The world had been turn asunder. Everything Bornes knew was gone now- in ruin. The realization hadn't really hit him until he had seen it with his own eyes.

Bornes was used to not talking with anyone, and watching people- being somewhat of a loner. But he was used to people being there. Being truly alone was irking him more than he ever thought it would, and his body language became less authoritative to show for it.

Isiah quirked a brow upward, frowning a little as he felt his masculinity being threatened in the back of his head. But.. he was more tired than masculine, he supposed that he could let it go. At least, just this once.

"Fine," he grumbled, rolling his eyes back. "If you must. But only because you argued so long and hard for it." He folded his arms behind his head, sighing, scratching the back of his head idly while they walked.

Bornes took a step back as Isiah dropped the bag, and he bumped into the back of a booth. He flinched a bit, caught off-guard, but tried to cover it up by walking forward almost immediately and picking up the bag, throwing it over his shoulder with a grunt.

He too began to walk out of the restaurant once more, following Isiah. After a few moments he tried to speak up. "I'm sorry," he was trying to seem compassionate. It was coming off awkward instead.
"I'm not acting like this because you're gay."

He looked around somewhat, his sunglasses beginning to blind him, as the sun was almost finished setting. Bornes knew he should take them off soon, but now he felt too awkward to do so. His eyes, even moreso than his tail, were the most expressive things about him and he knew Isiah wasn't stupid. The man could probably read him like a child's book if he hadn't begun to do so already.

The statement in itself made it clear that the boy had a problem with him. Isiah was in some ways, prepared for this. He had kept it hidden so long from everyone in the vault simply because the situation always became so tense and awkward- just like it was now.

"I'm not going to hit on you," he grumbled. "I'm not even going to eyeball you. You aren't my kind of princess." He unfolded his arms, tucking his hands into his pockets. "Feel better?"

"Ehh..." Bornes gave a confused and awkward sigh.

"That hadn't even crossed my mind," he relented.

He took a few more steps, trying to think of his words. "It's just. I read people. That's what I do. I'm sure you've figured that out. And I didn't know... Or even guess... You were not straight. It's not because you're gay, Isiah. It's because I didn't know and now I am uncomfortable because I don't know what else I could be wrong about when I make assumptions on your behavior."

Oh, that was great. Be completely and brutally honest. That's not a horrible thing to do at all. Bornes winced slightly, wishing he could slap himself.
"I apologize," he hastily added. "I should not say it like that. I just... I don't know." He was babbling now. "I wouldn't care if you hit on me."
Oh good, dig the hole deeper, Bornes!
Brilliant!

He quirked a brow upward again, crossing the space between them to spread a thick arm across Q's shoulders. "Is that so, honeycake?" He spread it on thick, running his tongue over his teeth slowly and teasingly. He gave Q's shoulder a squeeze before releasing him, giving him a pat on the a**.

Bornes nearly lost his balance as Isiah pulled him in, and aside from his face turning to one of awkward discomfort, he didn't try to get away. He bit back a growl and his tail flailed for a bit after the swat on his a**, but after a few seconds his voice calmed enough for him to reply with "There's a difference between flirting and being cruel."

He frowned and stopped to push his sunglasses atop his head so he could see better. After blinking a few times in the dark his eyes adjusted and he continued onward, now much more perceptive and less likely to lag behind Isiah.

"So what is the type of man Isiah likes?" he snorted.

Bornes wasn't quite sure how to handle the homoerotic insult from earlier but he was sure he probably deserved it. He still wanted to somehow get Isiah back, however.

Isiah leaned away from him, putting the distance back between them. Just a few feet, after all, but enough to make things more comfortable. He chuckled as he thought about it. "You sure you want me to answer that question?" He tilted his head toward the other male, trying to read his face in the last dying rays of sunlight.

"hah!" Bornes scoffed, looking away. "You said I was not your type. So unless you lied, I think it would be quite" he narrowed his stark green eyes as he moved his gaze to stare through Isiah "entertaining to know."
