Malik took the journal, and the paper, looking over it in his usual fashion. Malik was critical of such things, and took cares on it. So then he gave his son a grin and passed the paper over to him again.

"good job. everything all correct and well done."

then flipping through that journal, taking on a mosre serious look at it, and then occasionally looking at the Draithix. interesting.

"Silly, I can't be smarter than you, I'm littler." He beamed at the attention, quite proud with his little elven self. And then the expectant look to his father, rocking on his heels a moment. But oh the smile when his father then approved and handed the paper back, which Malikhai hugged the paper to his chest. Oh it was a good day.

Isle turned her attention to Piper as her and Galesen came back, the other surface elf going off to the kitchen for somethin, Piper joining them. "Finished up with your spot of business then? And I must say, little boy blue is certinally a looker."

Piper gave a giggle. "You're just enamoured with him because he's blue is all. And yes, quite done and a few steel pieces richer to boot. I think it's going to be a good day." Looking over to Malik as he was studying things with a critical eye...good thing she had taught him to read surface elvish well because Kieran's common was chicken scratch and not worth reading at all.

Was that was Zahara needed? Sevilin had on more than one occassion pointed out contradicting behavior in her, but it never did any good. Would Zykariel telling her about those moments help? Or would it come off as the boy trying to push her away...or was that best? He didn't know anymore...why did this have to be hard... "If you want and think it will help..." That was the only answer he could come up with.

Though a sigh as the little boy insisted that all he had to do was wait and that Piper was right. He wished he could agree, but Sevilin knew better. Setting the child down, he pushed the door open, letting him in first before following in. "Don't cause too much of a mess now, and we'll do something you want to do together, how's that sound?"

He shook his head. "I think it will only upset her and make her take longer to be ready. Miss Piper said that if I just waited it could happen and I believe her." He grinned at his father and hugged him, "I think she's just scared Daddy. But everyone gets over their fears at some point right? She will too."

He scampered inside and dropped his cloak and Rawr in a chair then ran upstairs calling out, "Zara? Zara where are youuuu?"

Zahara's ears twitched at the sound of the door and voices in the hall. The boys were home. Then she glanced up as her son called out to her. Sounded like he was going the wrong way. Shaking her head with a smile, she walked to the doorway of the library. "Downstairs in the library." Leaning against that doorway with the book in her hand and smiled at Sevilin. "Have a good day?"

"Of course little boy blue is a looker, he looks like his old man."

closing the book, and lookin gover at the kids and then at Isle and Piper.

"apparently those..Draithix..make good messenger pets. not to mention they might make good pets..but, they breed very quickly. Thoughts?"

He watched the boy run off, more pointedly to go see the subject of thier talking. But it seemed she wasn't the direction he was going as she appered. "No, not a particularly good day." Sighing at that before picking up the boy's cloak and hanging it up where it was supposed to be...after all, Sevilin couldn't stand mess in his house, it bothered him too much. A look back ot her. "You're going to get fussed at for not being in bed."

Yeah he was a little down trodden now, heading off to the kitchen to get something to snack on...he had gotten into the snacking habit from time to time, what with a child in the house that was more or less constantly snacking.

A look to Malikhai, the word 'pet' making him get that certain hpeful look...as if the boy didn't have enough pets. But the argument he pushed was that 'he didn't get to take care of them because they could take care of themselves and they were all really mom's, not his'. Yes, the pet issue had come up before. But a step over to Malik, taking the journal and reading through it some for herself, after all she may of grown up in Andal somehwhat, but she was too young by those standards to be exposed to these guys. "We could use something like that couldn't we? Small, intelligent, good tempered. And breeding is easy enough to control...besides, it's a big Underdark and there are lots of things that eat other things. And of course your son..."

"Taking all the credit of course, just like a prideful old elf." Shaking her head lightly and setting her hands to her hips. "Though I do say Malik, this is an aweful nice place as well." After all, this was Isle's first time away from Andal. Setting the bag she had on the floor, she fished out one of the eggs she had with her. "And this would be a draithix egg, one of half a dozen I have, all from different clutches. Yes, if Kieran can't come he's certinally one to prepare ahead of time."

"Piper redecorated."

a slight smirk at Isle.

"Downstairs is mine. things down there that would give you nightmares in your reveries for years, I'd imagine. But these may be useful...we could probably keep a few around here...and maybe let them spread around here some."

"They're really good pets, Malik. Nice and sweet and they just love kids." Trying to get Malikhai a new pet? Why yes, yes she was. "Daddy Kieran considers them his gift to you."

She raised an eyebrow in question at the 'fussed out' comment and then watched him shuffle off to the kitchen. Hmm, might be time to let him have thirds tonight at dinner. But she was distracted as the little boy came running up and crossed his arms.

"Why aren't you in bed like you're supposed to be? Sick people have to stay in bed."

So she was sick. That was Sevilin's explanation for her instincts apparently. "I took my potions and now I'm curled up on the couch. It's like a bed, it counts."

"So I can stay on the couch when I'm sick too?"

"We'll see. Zykariel...do you know why your dad is upset?"

He frowned and looked around searching for the subject of the conversation. "I think because we were talking about something that upset him."

Impressing upon the child how important this conversation actually was she picked him up and set him on the couch, turning to face him directly. "What was it about?"

He glanced at her and thought about telling her but he didn't want to upset her and have them both mad at him. "It was about my wanting something I can't really have."

"You didn't ask your dad for another pet, did you?"

"No."

"Then what?"

He played with his hands and then shrugged. "Zara can I have a snack?"

She raised an eyebrow at his obvious distraction technique and picked him up carrying him into the kitchen. "What do you want for snack?"

"Cookies!"

A shake of her head and she walked over to the fridge and opened it, shifting him a bit in her hold. "How about something good for you so you can grow big and strong like your dad?"

"Cookies will make me grow big and strong."

Scanning the shelves for a moment before she found what she wanted him to eat. Pulling out the red fruit she showed it to him. "How about an apple? Your dad eats apples."

"But apples aren't yummy like cookies."

"They are if you put peanut butter on them."

"Peanut butter?" His eyes widened and then sparkled with the possibility.

"Yup." Setting him down on the counter she went about slicing the apple up and then plopping peanut butter on a plate. "Now you can dip your apples into it and make it really yummy."

"Okay!"

She settled him at the table with his plate and poured herself a cup of tea then took a seat at the table as well, glancing at Sevilin. "How'd your talk with Arthur go? Is he alright?"
PostPosted: Sun Nov 12, 2006 10:59 am

"Obviously." Biut a dismissive wave of her hand at him, turning her back on him and again presenting that attitude to him that no matter what he said, he wasn't going to spook her so easily. Then she crouched down to Malikhai's level. He was just so cute. Pity his friend had left, she had a pention for spoiling children.

He kept himself quiet, after all if a pet was in store for him he wasn't going to say anything to get himself in trouble about it, but his attention turned to Isleandra who had seemed to broken off from the adult conversation over his head and decided to pay him attention. Though of course there was that shy streak and well look at that Lharika was readily avaliable to half hide behind.

Crossing her arms lightly at Malik. "Oh stop it. So does that mean we're taking them then?" Now holding the egg that Isle had been holding before, looking it over. Hm, wouldn't be long before these things were ready to hatch at all."

"Arthur's fine, but he gets it. Seemed a little surpised though when he found some things out." Shrugging and giving the 'that's all I'm able to say in front of the child' indication. "Healed him all up." Munching at some kind of underdark fruit like thing. Though truth be told he was a little agitated as well as she had carried the boy around, fostering those hopes of his.

Now he looked for a change of subject so she wouldn't pry into his slightly foul mood. "Isleandra Rainsong, and Lharika Silvercrest are visitng for a while. They brought Draithix with them. If I recall, you know them both, right?"

Lharika knew how Malikhai felt, she'd been quite shy when first meeting up with Daddy Kieran herself. But she also knew that sometimes one had to be forced into situations. She wrapped her arms around his neck, resting her hands crossed on his chest in the way one would hug from the back, to keep him in front of her. "Malikhai show Isle your writing."

Zykariel happily was eating his apple not really listening to the conversations going around but he did catch an irritated note in his father' voice. Why was Daddy mad? But soon the peanut butter left on his plate took his attention and he scooped it up with his fingers sucking on them to get all the peanut butter off.

She studied him closely and nodded. "I thought he might be. He's really human and surface oriented in his ideas. i'm just now realizing how much it's so." Her gaze went to Zykariel but she bit her tongue before telling him not to make a mess. "I appreciate you taking care of that little unpleasant business for me, Sevilin. I don't know if I would have been able to handle it but I know it was rough for you." Then changing the subject since she was wise to his feelings about sex and Zykariel. "Very well in fact. Isleandra is my Andal amber supplier. She feeds my addiction. And Lharika is just the cutest little elf you ever did see. Why?"

"Hey! What about me?" Pouting then.

"Present company excluded of course."

Malikhai lookes at Isle, then tilted his head back to look at Lark, then he looked to the paper he still had held to himself. Then another look to Isle and his bit his lip a moment before holding the paper out for her to look. He wasn't so sure about showing strangers how good he was at things. Like daddy said, impressing people you don't know, isn't always best. It was better to intimidate them. But he was too little to do that yet.

She smiled at the child and gently took the paper that was offered to her as he was prodded to hand it over. Though it was amusing to watch little elves being supportive of even littler elves. But her eyes came to scan over the paper. "Wow Malikhai, this is really really good. You know, it took me a long time to learn to write Common, though I didn't practice as often as I should have." Giving that little commical, 'I hate to practice' face. "You're just right quick about it, aren't you?"

He shrugged and waved a hand dismissively. "Doesn't matter, not like I'll have to have a repeat conversation with him." And as far as he was concerned that was enough now wasn't it? Indeed it was. Another shrug on his part. "Lharika asked about you is all...I just thought I'd mention that they were there...after all, you have a thing about surface elves." Shaking his head lightly.

"My nephews are smart boys." She squeezed his shoulder lightly in a show of support and grinned when Isle gave him the praise that he so richly deserved. "Hey Malikhai, since Zykariel went home did you want to go play or something?"

Sevilin recieved 'the look' and she tapped her nail against the top of her cup. Tiptoeing around him was only going to piss her off. He was using short, concise sentences and volunteering no extra information. He had that look of being pissed and she didn't like it one little bit. But she also knew that there was almost no chance that he would talk about anything with Zykariel in the room. She decided to let things lie for now but if Sevilin continued to act pissed off, eventually she was going to yank him off and talk to him. "I'll stop by and see them tomorrow. Lharika usually takes a day to settle down from the excitement of traveling and getting here." A glance at the boy. "So you met Isleandra, hmm?"

"Yup. She's pretty Zara. Reminds me of Malikhai's grandpa." Which reminded him of something that he'd always meant to ask but kept forgetting to do so. "Zara, Daddy? Can we ever see my grandparents? Do I have a real aunt?"

Leafe was growing tired of this man's presence on her Peninsula. "Lets get the point I've been subtley trying to pass. How long before you leave the Peninsula?"

A happy three headed dog made his way to the Fortress, a leather mail case in one of his jaws. (Leather to protect the letter inside from his drool.) He sat outside the front doors, just down the entrance steps, and barked to ge attention."

Again he beamed. He just couldn't help himself, he was being spoiled with attention again. And in due fashion he took his paper back and then turned his attention to his aunt. "I wanna show Miss Isleandra around." Because that's what daddy always had done but he was engaged in conversation, thus Malikhai was going to take that...not that anyone would mind he was sure.

He watched them as they talked about surface elves and then frowned again as his son went about asking questions. Why did he have to ask questions like that? "No, we can't, and no you don't. We don't have any family but each other. You and me." And yes that answer was quickly delivered, consise and to the point, he wasn't going to let that one lie and fester.
PostPosted: Sun Nov 12, 2006 12:39 pm

"I'm sure she'd really like it. Can I come too even though I already know my way around and everything?" The asking was really just a formality since she already knew that Malikhai was going to say yes.

He was just upsetting Daddy all over the place today wasn't he? It didn't make any sense to him why his father was so irritated every time he mentioned something. "Oh..." He wasn't even going to add that he considered Zara family too, even though her last name wasn't Inthara and she didn't have a braid.

Zahara shook her head. She couldn't very well say anything about the family comment because truthfully she wasn't. She was the babysitter, nothing more. But extended family? Well that she could speak on. and Sevilin had lied and she and Sevilin both knew it but she didn't want him around her family anymore than Sevilin did around his. And Zykariel's real aunts were nothing like his 'aunt Lharika.' But Sevilin being closed minded about this whole thing wasn't going to help matters at all. "You have grandparents, Zykariel because everybody has parents, even Sevilin and I."

Well that made him happy to hear. He liked Malikhai's grandparents. They usually brought fun stuff and were always nice. "Can we visit them?"

"No. They're dead Zykariel. They died a long time ago." To Sevilin and her their parents were dead to them anyway. And chances were both their fathers were long gone, taken out by their mothers or another b***h. "Are you finished with your snack?"

"Almost." He glanced over at his father to see if he was any happier then slowly traced his finger through the last bits of peanut butter. "What's for dinner?"

She chuckled, the boy had just had a snack and already he was hungry again and anticipating the next mealtime. "Whatever your dad wants."

As everyone else was busy talking amongst one other Arthur was busy in the kitchen preparing himself a drink. He had a lot of different types of wines, juices and even milks to chose from so he took his time, his taste buds were bugging him to pick certain flavors. So after what seemed like about ten minutes Arthur had picked on a certain wine that he had grown to like over the past couple of years, sipping on it lightly the elf thought over what has happened, he just met two surface elves, one being Piper's sister the other being the lovely Isleandra who was someone Arthur could easily get along with in due time; plus he was a owner of a zephmare from Piper, he had to pay two thousand steel but it was worth the cost. "And things could never be better..." He said to himself as he finished the rest of the wine.

So after his drink was all gone the elf just set the cup down on the counter and walked back out to where the others were, giving a small wave and a "Hey." with a smile as he stopped near Isle and Piper. "So did you guys miss me much?" He asked with a light chuckle as he placed his hands in his pockets as he was more relaxed and calm around them now.
