Sudden clarity dawned on her, and in her understanding, Tarma began to laugh heartily. The woman, quite obviously, was mad. Sheathing her sword, the soldier raises her hands in defeat, giving the other female an indulgent smile. Her tone of voice made it obvious that Tarma was trying to humor her.

"All right Lady Cora, have it your way. This is a special place of magic, and you may keep it for yourself. I mean it no harm, so why don't you just show me the way out, hm?"

As if to puncuate the point ('cause I've got ten minutes to kill whee ), a giant of a woman, with miniature wings fluttering upon her back and a Cat Plushie 'sitting' upon her head, appears at the bar, scribbling between her research slip and what appears to be a book. Her nose is almost litterally touching the pages. She seems caught in research, to say the least.

"Great Saints preserve me!"

Falling back with a cry of surprise and fear as the giantess appears, Tarma had her sword drawn again in a ringing scrape of metal on leather, the blade shaking slightly in her trembling hands. Without thinking, she makes the sign of the cross with her right hand, whispering choked hail Mary's fervently under her breath.

:::Cora cocked an eyebrow up. The woman suddenly believed it very easily::

It's not magic. It's an anomoly in the fabric of space and time who's jurisdiction lies in unknown dietical hands.

:::Before Cora decided to show her were the door home was..:::

Are you... familiar with these sorts of places?

:::But just then Janani appeared... and the woman seemed entirely unfamiliar with the scenario once again:::

Hello Janani... Please stay calm, she's new here.

(( whee Sowwey! Seems I startled you all by coming in ninja Blame it on being bored? ...and not have much opportunity to role play?))

Janani looks up when she hears the scraping metal. She blinks as she looks over her shoulder at Tarma, the quill in her mouth nearly falling out as her jaw goes limp. A human...in a manner of dress she hasn't seen since she was under a century old?! There had been others, but she could clearly hear the hail Marys. It almost makes her smile, but the human's sword is enough to bother her. Though...she doubts the metal could really cut her skin.

Don't worry, Cora. She's a human from a time period I'm very familiar with...though I was only a child at the time.

Janani looks a bit embarassed, but she looks to Tarma with a smile.

Do not fear, child. I am...a guardian angel.

The words would suffice as they are not a lie.

"What gibberish are you speaking woman?! And what is that...that thing which claims to be Holy?!"

Having backed up until her back was to the wall, the medieval soldier was clutching her sword in one hand and had the silver cross around her neck fisted in the other. Fear, confusion, doubt; all these were inscribed upon her features, for surely the creature looked like no angel Tarma had ever been warned of.

"What agents of Hell are you?!"

((Hello hun! And no, I dun mind others jumping in, makes it more fun. 3nodding ))

:::Cora sighed:::

Please calm down, neither of us mean you harm. I've already told you. This isn't Hell... nor are we agents from Hell. Janani there, I'm pretty sure is from Heaven.

:::Though around here, that's not always a good thing... Cora thought, with the Seraphim in mind:::

And I'm simply human. I'm from a very different place than you, that is why I might look odd from your perspective.
PostPosted: Wed May 24, 2006 2:50 pm

((We've actually met, Tarma. I don't know if you'll recall me, though. Kinda the reason I wanted to jump in ninja that an my character is an Angel in "outside" Brink role-play and a 'lower' Celestial when "inside" Brink role-play xd It's interesting, at least.))

Hell?

Janani shivers as she thinks of that abhorent place. It's not something to look forward to, those demons attempting to rend flesh from bone. She knows it to be her brother's responsibility to fight demons while protecting the Globe of Terrace, but it frightens her to no end the thought of such things, which is should.

I have yet to enter that battlefield...

Janani turns around to show Tarma her wings. She tries to point to them, but their size makes it difficult.

I'm not quite what you'd know as an Angel. I'm somewhere between...a Celestial; though, certainly I am from Heaven. My wings are...

Janani frowns as she looks flush with embarrassment.

...stunted.

She looks like she's about to speak again, but her book and research slip fade away and a shimmer of the air around Janani singles her departure.

Farewell!

((Byes!))

((*waves* Bye hun! whee Wish I knew where I know you from though. sweatdrop ))

As the Celestial fades out, Tarma lowers her weapon slightly. She'd seen the wings; could the woman have spoken truth? Shifting her eyes to Cora, the irishwoman watches her dubiously for a very long moment before slowly re-sheathing her sword. Where ever she was, it would appear they meant no harm. And if indeed she herself was mad, then she could be in no better company. Cautiously, she looks to Cora, taking a step forward before bowing low with a fist over her heart.

"Captain Tarma Falloner, at your service madam. I...apologise if I have wronged you or yours. I was...frightened."

She seems to struggle with saying the last word, as though it is unfamiliar to her.

:::Cora instinctively puts her clentched fist over her heart:::

Lieut-

:::but cuts herself off... and takes her hand from her heart. She had not been a Lieutenant since she was back in Omegatropolis, and since that would never happen again, she was just... Cora:::

You can call me Cora... may I call you Tarma?

"If that is what my Lady wishes, then aye."

Tarma's eyes still flicker restlessly about the room, taking in her surroundings with ill ease. As she begins to speak again, she looks back to Cora for confirmation.

"It is a strange kind of place, this...Brink, you called it?"
PostPosted: Wed May 24, 2006 3:09 pm

:::She nods:::

The strangest place that I've ever seen. For example... :::She was still behind the bar::: Is there anything you'd like to drink? This place is always entirely stocked with every drink request I've ever heard.

Blinking twice, Tarma steps closer, lightly setting her hands on the polished wood of the bar, palms down. After a moments thought, she nods.

"If you have ale on tap...I'd not object to a pint, if you please Lady Cora."
PostPosted: Wed May 24, 2006 3:17 pm

Ale...? Hm...

:::Cora had done some reading about bars, since reading was really the only thing she could do while there. She attempted to recall what she knew about ale. Well, 'tap' she was certain of. She went to look at the metal nozzles in front of her, but was dismayed that none of them were labed with 'ale', except for ginger ale, and that she knew was not alcohol, and probably not hat Tarma wanted a whole pint of:::

Everything is here... :::Cora rubbed her chin while speaking to Tarma::: It may just take a minute to find...

:::But then Cora spotted some barrels, with nozzles on them as well, and she took a pint glass, and spouted some in. She held it up for Tarma to see the foamy golden consitency:::

Is this ale..?

"O' course it's ale!"

Looking at Cora as though she were being very odd, Tarma accepted the tankard with a wary grin. Taking a strong pull, the soldier swallowed the brew down with a contented sigh.

"Now that's good stuff. God, but I needed that!"

She sets the glass down again, shaking her head.

"A strange sort of place indeed. I wonder what I'll tell Gwideon when I speak with him next...."

But the woman never answered her own question as she began to fade away before even a goodbye could be uttered, disappearing completely from the Brink.
